Viva Palestina Stragglers Still Trying to Get out of Egypt

Well, the saga of Viva Palestina 3 has not yet played out fully. Of course, George Galloway is safely back in London doing what he does best....

but dozens of his followers are still stuck at Cairo Airport as authorities deport them. The VP website features urgent tweets for help. They want diplomatic escorts, British Embassy employees, and all their friends to call the Foreign Office on their behalf. Meanwhile, they sit in the airport departure terminal, no water, no toilets, and they have to pay their own airfare out of Egypt!!! In addition, their new-found friends from the Egyptian riot police are confining them to a small departure lounge. It is still possible some could be charged in connection with the riots that occurred at El-Arish.

"THIS IS A HUMAN RIGHTS ISSUE!!!!!!!"
(Well, not really.)

But let's be honest. International travel has become a real pain in recent years for various reasons. We are all being inconvenienced these days. So to be honest, I have little sympathy for Galloway's fellow-misfits. (Take note Anonymous, whose daughter was in the convoy.) So I think I won't be calling the Foreign Office or any Egyptian Embassy. As they say in Britain, I have more pressing matters. Like drinking another beer.

There we go.

Strange. I never had any of those problems when I went to Egypt.
