More Haitian Relief Info

President Obama has appeared today at the White House with former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush to announce a newly set up fund site for Haitian relief. The urgent need at this point for contributors is money. The site is:

In addition, CNN has set up a site to learn about how you can help. It can be found at CNN News- click "World"- click "Impact your World".

Secretary of State Clinton has arrived in Haiti today. As much as I have criticized some of her past trips, not here. She is showing the American flag, and I wish her well in her efforts to coordinate the State Department's role.

As I write, a baby is being airlifted to the US for emergency life-saving surgery that cannot be done in Haiti. CNN was reporting that there was doubt the baby, who has no papers, would be even admitted to the US. C'mon! At times like this, you forget the bureaucracy and do what you have to do. Surely an immigration officer can accompany the baby to the hospital if that is what is needed. I would be shocked if this child is not admitted. There are reportedly 100 others that need emergency surgery, and efforts are in progress to identify other hospitals around the Caribbean that can help.
