Haiti

At this point, we don't yet know just how bad the damage in Haiti is, but we do know it is horrible. There will probably be thousands of dead. As always, it is America who will lead the way in assistance. Haiti's own rescue system is poor and our government is already marshaling rescue assistance as well as food, medicine and other measures.

In the coming days, there will be many organizations we can contribute to in order to help. In the meantime, you can call 1-800 RED CROSS or go to White House.gov, which is posting additional resource information. President Obama and the State Department have already pledged whatever is necessary to help Haiti in its time of crisis.

I have no doubt that once again, America will be the first to step up to the plate and do the right thing.
