Just got home from accidentally running into a protest of Nancy Pelosi. She is speaking tonight at the Orange County (CA) Airport Hilton. I had no idea. Your humble correspondent was leaving UC-Irvine and headed for one of my favorite watering holes when suddenly, I was passing a couple of hundred protesters in front of the hotel. The placards all had some reference to Pelosi, so after I had a couple of brews, I walked back to the protests.
Pelosi had not yet arrived, but protesters were around the parking lot of the hotel (maybe 300). Most were anti-Pelosi with various hand-made placards about health care, the economy etc. There were about 20 college age kids in green t-shirts. Their issue was protesting the anti-abortion amendment in the health care bill.
Then there were about 15 Purple-People Beaters-the folks from SEIU. They stood across the street with placards which I couldn't read. Some guy was beating a drum.
There were cops in squad cars, motorcycles and a police helicopter flew overhead. Folks, this was the Speaker of the House coming to town!
But after trying to snap a few pics in the dark with my cell phone. I decided I'd better get home so's the Missus wouldn't know I was drinking beer in a bar.

I doubt that Queen Nancy even noticed. But it is good to see the people taking the initiative. Too bad no one thought to bring some hot tar and feathers.
WC- Please do. When I got home last night and googled the event-yours was the first one that popped up. I couldn't stay long. Were there any fireworks?
