Spanking in Sacramento- Assemblyman Mike Duvall

(Former) California State Assemblyman Mike Duvall (R-Yorba Linda)

"You've been a bad lobbyist."

It doesn't get much better than this, folks. In July, California Assemblyman Mike (Kiss and Tell) Duvall (R-Yorba Linda) was caught talking to a colleague on an open mike as he waited for a appropriations committee meeting to begin. On the tape, Duvall (who is married) is bragging to his colleague about two recent female conquests. He talks about "eye-patch underwear" and spanking one of his girlfriends, a married lobbyist. Finally, someone walks over to Duvall and tells him he is speaking on an open mike. The tape surfaced this month, and as a result, Duvall has resigned-while refusing to acknowledge extra-marital activity-only inappropriate bragging. (Shades of John Edwards-only admit what's been proven.)

The best video version (unedited-viewer warning) can be found at:

(Duvall is second from the right.)

Oh, by the way, Duvall was known as a family-values crusader prior to the disclosure of the tapes. Well, as they say, "spare the rod, spoil the babe".

It has also been disclosed that of the 120 legislators, Duvall ranked 9th in amount of contributions received in the form of gifts (see Orange County Register, Sept.16, 2009-local p 4). In all, Duvall's office received $6,800 in gifts.

Finally, there is a voter-initiative petition going around the state that if it gets on the ballot and passes, would limit state lawmakers to work only 90 days per year. Sounds great to me.
