Ted Kennedy's New Book-$1,000

"True Compass"

"And if you order now, we'll throw in the latest issue of Mad Magazine for only $500!"

I almost ran off the freeway today when I heard on the radio that Ted Kennedy is coming out with a book this year, a memoir, which will sell for $1,000 dollars. Yes, the senator from Massachusetts who always wants to spend our money is now going to collect a cool grand for each copy of a limited edition. Here are the details.

The book is entitled, "True Compass" (I'll hold off on the OnStar jokes), which is being published by Twelve, an imprint of Grand Central Publishing. The limited edition will consist of 1,000 leather-bound copies with Kennedy's "autograph" electronically signed" (the old facsimile machine?) A regular hardcover edition is scheduled for release in October, which will cost $35 (still over-priced in my opinion).

The book, which was written in collaboration with writer Ron Powers, has reportedly brought in an $8 million advance for Kennedy. No word on how much Powers, who undoubtedly did most of the work, is being paid.

So for you folks itching to buy the latest political white paper..er, autobiography and dish out $1,000, have at it. To me, this is just another example of certain folks who always talk about other folks being greedy,......being greedy.

A thousand bucks for a book. Gimme a break!

I guess after all the scandals, wild parties and such the Kennedy fortune is gone.
