May 4, 2009 – New York Metropolitan Area - Project Meridian Foundation is gearing up to host its NYC metropolitan area "Lunar on the Bay Gala" at the Vanderbilt South Beach facility in Staten Island, New York on Thursday, May 14th at 7 PM. The event is open to the public and tickets for the event may be purchased online at www.ProjectMeridianFoundation.org.

Project Meridian Foundation, the organization benefiting the victims who have been abducted and forced into human trafficking and sex trade situations, is involved in all facets of rescue, rehabilitation and the securing of a safe habitat for the victims and their families. The foundations goals for organizing this event is to inform the public of the human trafficking epidemic which exists in communities across the nation, and to gain further support of law enforcement in the capture and prosecution of human traffickers.

Nathan Wilson, founder of the organization is very excited and is looking forward to the event. He shares his positive outlook saying, "We are receiving a great response from the public, and many folks will be attending the event, from all over the nation."

The event will feature live music from national recording artist Danny Nova who shared his thoughts during another PMF event held in Washington D.C. in April, saying "I want to make a difference in lives of the victims and their families who have been affected by human trafficking; this is an issue that needs to be brought to the attention of the general population immediately". Another feature will be international performer Janet Martin, "A master of open tunings." Janet will be performing with her Trio “The Janet Martin Band." Martin is known for her prowess on electric and acoustic guitars.

Guest speakers: Ambre DeVirgilio, Mrs. New York United States 2009, among other notables will include “Mothers Against Predators" founder Jaemi Levine. Levine’s daughter Nichole was abducted by a known human trafficker from Pakistan but was quickly rescued by the speedy efforts of local law enforcement. Levine was featured telling the tale of the incident on TV’s popular broadcast of “America’s Most Wanted". In this engagement, Levin will touch on her story and the human trafficking subject matter but will also discuss the do’s and don’ts relating to potential abductions.

In addition, Ardent supporter of the Project Meridian Foundation renowned artist Michael Bell, nominated Maryland’s "Teacher Of The Year" and recipient of Hollywood’s “Good Shepherd Community Service Award", will be presenting his artwork along with several of his high school art students’ works, to be auctioned off at the event. Bell is known for his commissioned paintings of cast members of various HBO productions such as The Sopranos, CSI: Miami, Law & Order and more.
