Findalis, I realize and respect that you might be somewhat sensitive to this situation in a way that I cannot relate. After all, nobody's calling for the death of German-Spanish-Swedish-English Americans, so I don't really know what that sort of a thing is like.
However, I don't know how you can say something like "it is applauded by our elected officials and media". Applauded? Who the hell is applauding this? Who is praising genocide? Just because there might be people in the media who are critical of Israel, that doesn't make it right to say that they're "applauding" genocide.
I'd be pretty upset - about as upset as I am when people call for the death of all Jews (or Juice, even). Believe it or not, I do find that to be very troubling.
However, that's not the same thing as saying that the media and elected officials are "applauding" it. That's the only thing with which I am taking issue.
From my recent experience witnessing two recent anti-Israel rallies since the war started, I would say the media is downplaying, if not burying the most offensive parts of the demonstrations, which they are characterizing as "peaceful".
Why is it we have to depend on the blogosphere to learn about the Hitler and "oven" comments. They are not mentioned in the msm.
You should not have to come to fousesquawk and other blogs to learn about these comments (which are documented on video). You should be reading about them in the newspapers and hearing about them on TV.
Come on, I'm not defending the anti-Semitic remarks, nor am I denying that they're being said. I'm with you in regards to how we should be aware of this sort of a thing. I'm just taking issue with the notion that it's being "applauded".
It's statements like that that hurt your cause, as I have a hard time taking you guys seriously when you seem to be so one-sided on this that you're willing to completely accept something that's so obviously false.
Now, if you want to make a case that this is all being swept under the rug, and it's not getting the attention that it should, then okay, I'm probably more in agreement with you than anything. But ignoring something and applauding it are TOTALLY different.
Findalis used the word "applauded". What I said and still say is that the media is ignoring it and/or burying it.
Now why would the media do that? Because they are not on Israel's side. Because they are sympathetic to the Palestinian side-in some cases even being sympathetic to Hamas.
Man, you're just not going to give it to me on this one, are you? Are you really trying to equate the word "applauded" with what you're saying? Do you REALLY not understand what I'm saying? Are you so gung-ho Israel that you'll invent your own reality?
I would not go so far as to say that the msm "applauds" the statements. However, I condemn them for not publicizing them and condemning them-thus leaving it to us to bring them to the public's attention.

Okay I can tolerate a bit of anti-Semitism so long as it doesn't get out of hand, but I will NOT let them take away my OJ!
Man, this really threatens my Sunday breakfast routine. What am I supposed to drink with my bacon and eggs? Water?
And I don't think he was referring to OJ Simpson.
Findalis,
What's all this about Jews? This gentleman is clearly protesting against the use of performance-enhancing drugs in Major League Baseball.
Well if it is that how do you kill it.

What you haven't heard the cries: "We need bigger ovens." "Death to the Jews."
Funny how my elderly neighbors all heard that. Funny how they are terrified of living through that nightmare all over again.
When you don't say to people that isn't acceptable in our society, you are agreeing with their sentiments.
Would you be this calm if it was a group advocating: "Death to all teachers!" or "Death to all Gays!"
Think about that.

Hello? Hello? Is this thing on?

Lance,
You're on, buddy. It must be me that is not on.

Where did I go wrong, Lance? Are you being overwhelmed by my sense of subtlety?
No, it's your refusal to see that saying that the media is "applauding" genocide is just plain incorrect.
I feel like I'm in a Monty Python sketch.
OK, Monty, OK, already!!!

Howz that work for your, Monty?
Victory is mine!

You keep stating that as though somebody on this forum is arguing that point with you.
Pyrric victory, old chap.
Hey, I'll take what I can get.
