Orwellian Speech at The Brown University

Hat tip College Insurrection

Ho hum. Another campus newspaper article; another lecture to white students and white people in general. Brown University, a small piece of a small state (Rhode Island) which has featured so many incidents of fascist intolerance in recent years, that I refer to it as The Brown University* (in honor of Hitler's Brown Shirts), is once again in my cross-hairs.

Did you note the Orwellian language in that letter?

* Prior to Hitler's coming to power, Erlangen University earned the same moniker when it became the first university in Germany whose student government was dominated by Nazis.

“The right to free speech is a protection against the abuse of power, not a guarantee of a platform for all ideas,”

The first clause is unquestionably true. As for the second, I see no reason to guarantee that these students should have a platform for all their ideas, except if an argument can be made that they have a right to free speech.
