Palestinian Students "Celebrate" Edward Said

Now I realize why I was pulling for the Royals to win the World Series. San Francisco is full of flakes.

Here is the latest example. The General Union of Palestinian Students of San Francisco State University gathered at Malcolm X Plaza to celebrate the life of the late Edward Said, a professor at Columbia who immigrated to this country from one of those areas they call Palestine (Oh yes. Jerusalem) became a professor and spent his life trashing the West (when he wasn't trashing Israel). Here is the gushing article from Golden Gate Express (campus newspaper)

And the two headline speakers! SFSU professor Rabab Abdulhadi and UC Berkeley  professor Hatem Bazian, both "tireless workers" for a peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I wonder if Bazian, the founder of Students for Justice in Palestine, counted the number of buildings on the SFSU campus that had Jewish names while he was there. I wonder if he called for an intifada in the US.

First of all, Said did not work for a peaceful solution to the  Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The guy threw a rock over a fence at Israeli border guards. It was probably the most noteworthy thing the guy did in his life.

“He’s a really intelligent Palestinian,” said GUPS member and freshman Linda Ereikat. “We look up to him as college students for our future.”

“We have events that are more political,” Ereikat said. “Today it’s about our culture.”

Yes. Suicide vests, bombs, and most recently, running down pedestrians with your car. Some culture.
