More IRS Testimony: Sarah Hall Ingram

"Email exchanges involving Ingram and White House officials — including White House health policy advisor Ellen Montz and deputy assistant to the president for health policy Jeanne Lambrew — contained confidential taxpayer information, according to Oversight."
-Fox News

IRS official Sarah Hall Ingram testified before Congress yesterday, and it was revealed that IRS furnished tax-payer information to the White House. (That's a no-no.) Ingram is the lady who ran the unit that oversaw the tax-exempt  requests unit and was promoted to run the IRS unit that will be involved with ObamaCare. At the below link, you can access e-mails between IRS and the White House.

The IRS is prohibited -by law- from disclosing tax information on people to outside parties. That even includes other federal law enforcement agencies except under certain conditions. For example, when I was a DEA agent, I occasionally worked with IRS agents. They could not simply hand over the contents of their files to me. Criminal activity on the part of the suspect was one thing; their tax information was off-limits.It would have been a violation of law.

In spite of the serious of the matter, one Congressman treated it all as if it were a big joke. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) asked a series of mock questions to Hall bringing up the specter of the Salem Witch Trials.

The punishment for the crime of handing over IRS confidential information is five years in jail. Will Eric Holder start the investigation and prosecution? Probably not, as he is still gathering information on the Martin case.
