John Edwards Into the Dustbin of History

John Edwards
2008 Fousesquawk Jerk of the Year winner

The trial of John Edwards ended today in Greensboro with an acquittal on one count and a hung jury and mistrial on the remaining counts. He has given one last public statement accepting responsibility for his moral failures while denying any legal guilt. It is doubtful that the government will attempt to re-try Edwards on the five other counts. I think most of us in the public are fine with that.

God only knows what Edwards plans are.  Hopefully, he has no plans to re-enter the political arena. His reputation is in tatters. He will never be taken seriously or regarded with respect again. He knows that.

So hopefully, Edwards will have the good sense to live a private life. Nobody wants to hear any more speeches about "two Americas". Assuming the remaining counts are dropped, Edwards can claim innocence, but the 2008 Fousesquawk Jerk of the Year award winner has fully justified that honor.  That is how Edwards will be remembered (as a jerk). It is his scarlet letter so to speak.

Hey Joe,

This is the classic comment since I have been a blogger. You must be the only person in America who still believes in John Edwards. This is so boffo off the wall I am going to post it as a separate article.

Wow!
