Keith Olbermann and Michael Moore -Two Dopes

Above: Keith Olbermann. Below: Michael Moore

Keith Olbermann and the human unmade bed Michael Moore are, predictably, supporting WikiLeaks head Julian Assange. This week, Olbermann called in his designated "expert" Moore to expound on the need for WikiLeaks. Below is a link to the video by the Washington Post.

As a result of this interview, Moore and Olbermann are taking heat from some who think they are dismissing or trivializing the rape charges against Assange, which Moore calls "hooey". That was my initial reaction as well when it was reported that two women who had slept with Assange were wanting to know if he had any STDs since his condoms had broken (or leaked?) when he had sex with each woman. Now there reports that there may have been some non-consensual aspects as well. Unlike Michael Moore, I don't know what the hell the truth is. Pending further details in a court of law, I will assume he is innocent . Yet, he has already pronounced innocent by Moore "the expert".

So now Olbermann has suspended his Twitter account until the furor dies down. Big deal.

On another point, "expert" Moore seems to think that a nation should have NO classified documents. Everything should be available to the public. That will save lives, according to Moore. I beg to differ. As a DEA agent, especially when I served in Thailand and Italy, we wrote reports that had they become public could have gotten people killed (informants and undercover agents, primarily). While working in the American embassy in Bangkok and the consulate in Milan, I had to adhere to the classification of government documents (not all are classified.) Contrary to what "expert" Moore thinks, there is a legitimate need for many documents to be classified and not available to the public at large. And don't give me that hooey about the American People Need to Know. Release it to the American people it is also released to the whole world including our enemies. He uses the pre-911 FBI reports on suspects taking flying lessons and opines that had there been a WikiLeaks, perhaps 9-11 could have been prevented.  Well, Mr Moore, why don't we release all FBI reports on who they are following around in the US today? Let them know we are onto them, who is tapping their phones, who is snitching on them, and they will just cancel their plans and go home.

Sorry, Mr Moore, but I live in the real world, not the world of your and Olbermann's fevered imaginations.

I also take exception to Moore talking about how our soldiers "executed people". I've seen the tape he was referring to and as far as I am concerned, it was a justified attack. It is tragic that an innocent newsman or two happened to be present and died, but the attack was justified. He also implies that it is official government policy to murder innocent civilians. Of course, Olbermann takes no issue with those statements whatsoever. Disgraceful.

Michael Moore is an idiot who happens to have a public soapbox from which to preach his drivel. And Keith Olbermann is an idiot to use Moore to discuss the whole issue-or any serious issue.

Michael Moore performed a wonderful public service (and a very entertaining one) with "Roger and Me" and the sequel, "Pets or Meat." He never has gotten the same fine tuned result with his continuing series.

Those who want the government to have NO secrets should stop and think about the implications for the INDIVIDUAL right to privacy, protected by the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth amendments.
