What the Hell is Going on in Dudley (UK)?

The reports coming out of the UK in the past 24 hours are quite confusing. What is certain is that several members of the rightist English Defence League occupied the roof top of a dilapidated building in Dudley that was due to be demolished for construction of a mega-mosque, something the EDL and many local residence opposed. There had been a previous EDL demonstration against the mosque on April 3, in which arrests were made.

Here is where the story gets confusing. According to which source you read, either the EDL is guilty of trying to start a provocation against Muslims or thousands of Muslims have been rioting in the streets of Dudley in response to the incident.

While the story has been reported on both sides of the blogosphere, UK news sources are rather quiet and some are charging that there has been a news blackout. What videos are available don't show much just a line of cops facing off against EDL supporters.

It seems to vast majority of reports calling it a Muslim riot all have the same headline, indicating a common source.

"Thousands Of Muslims Rioting in Dudley, Muslim Gangs Wilding with Knives as EDL Stages Rooftop Protest of Monster Mosque"

According to the anti-EDL Socialist Worker Online, a crowd of Muslims did turn out to the scene in response and there was some degree of scuffling.

Well, it looks like at least one lad was arrested.

The latest is that the EDL occupiers have been removed by the police and plans for the mosque at that location have been scrapped.

I'll keep following this story, but it should be treated with caution.

"Good news, mein Fuehrer. Roosevelt has died and Britain has descended into chaos."
