As I previously reported, one of the two cops shot in Ferguson is the son of a DEA agent with whom I worked in the early 1980s. I have received an email from my former colleague, who informs me that his son underwent two hours of surgery to remove a 40 caliber bullet from his neck. In addition, a plastic surgeon closed the entry wound on his face. He is optimistic for his son's recovery and both are heartened by all the messages of support from fellow- retired DEA agents.
Finally, when the suspected shooter was arrested, guess whose handcuffs they hooked him up with.

How humiliating is this? President Obama makes a televised address to the Iranian people while his secretary of state, John Kerry, endures the insults of the Iranian foreign minister in a desperate attempt to make that Peace in Our Time deal with the mullahs.

Recently, the blog, Jew Hatred on Campus, which is part of David Horowitz's Freedom Center published a list of the Top Ten Most Anti-Semitic campuses in the US based on numerous incidents of anti-Semitic activity. Much of the blame for that activity was placed on the national student group, Students for Justice in Palestine, founded by UC Berkeley professor Hatem Bazian (below).
He's the one with the mic in case you're wondering.
This has resulted in JHC sending letters to the presidents of these universities asking them to take positive action to eliminate the problem. Below is the letter to UCLA Chancellor Gene Block and a response from his office.

The ultimate solution, however, is going to have to involve lawyers and hitting the universities where it hurts them most-in the pocketbook.

Christopher Dickey Breaks Down Jihad on CNN

And who is Christopher Dickey, you ask?
You don't wanna know, but David Wood of Answering Muslims tells us anyway in this video in which he takes on Dickey's "analysis" of global jihad. Dickey, who is foreign editor of Daily Beast, gave a really boffo interview to CNN's Brooke Baldwin in which he "debunked the theory" that there is any connection between Islam and terrorism. Dickey even listed one of the key elements of terrorist jihad as....testosterone.

Wood takes on that bizarro point by bringing up certain females who have joined the jihad.

Obama's "Success Story" in Yemen
Yesterday, the suicide bombings of Shi'ite mosques in Yemen resulted in the deaths of 137 people, for which ISIS proudly took credit. If you are wondering why (Sunni) ISIS would want to bomb mosques were Shia worship, it all goes back to the death of the Prophet Mohammad and a disagreement over who his rightful successor should have been. Of course, it had nothing to do with Islam (yesterdays' bombings).
It also brought to light President Obama's mentioning Yemen as one of his administration's "successes". As I write this, it has just been announced that we are pulling all remaining special military forces out of Yemen. That follows the evacuation of our embassy.
A Good Day for the Good Guys and a Bad Day for Obama

Israeli elections are complicated and it remains for Bibi Netanyahu to form a government, but it appears certain at this point that he has prevailed in the Israel elections. If anything, Israel has demonstrated to the world that it is indeed a democracy-quite unlike its hostile neighbors.
And shame on President Obama and his prostituted State Department for trying to directly swing
this election to Netanyahu's opponent. Not only did Team Obama send their operatives to Israel to work with that One Voice/ V-15 group to try and defeat Netanyahu, but the State Department gave them funding, which they used among other things to bus in Arabs and Bedouins to the polls.
Now, Obama is acting like a spoiled child who has yet to even congratulate Netanyahu. The White House says that Obama plans to call in the next couple of days. It should be called a concession call rather than a congratulatory call.
To make matters even sadder, the American media (with the notable exception of Fox News) is acting as if a dark cloud has settled over the Middle East with Netanyahu's victory. Maybe they haven't noted the dark clouds hanging over the Arab world. The media is upset that the election spells doom for Obama and Kerry's effort to bring about that Big Peace that would include a Palestinian state.
Netanyahu may not be perfect, but he is the closest thing to a Winston Churchill that the world has right now. He, President El-Sisi of Egypt, and King Abdullah of Jordan seem to be the only ones holding the world up at this time. Meanwhile, Europe has no leader of any stature, and we have Obama-worse than nobody.
So now it is left for John Kerry, "ably" assisted by the Baroness Lady Catherine Ashton of the EU to endure the insults of the Iranians as they beg them to make a deal that will bring Peace in our Time and Nobel peace prizes all around. Unless, of course, Israel spoils the party by attacking the Iranian nuke sites.

The Hound of the Baskervilles
Names and places have been changed to protect the idiotic.
They say nothing much ever happens in Baskerville Hills, a quiet, leafy neighborhood that overlooks the University of Nevada at Elko campus. Inhabited by university faculty, most everybody looks alike, thinks alike, and pretty much gets on with their lives living in a tranquil world of theories. To put it mildly, there usually isn't much to talk about once the professors return home and the night descends over Baskerville Hills.
That is until a few days ago when something happened that disrupted the quiet routine of Baskerville Hills.
A pit bull-with no apparent owner- was spotted roaming the winding, hilly streets of Baskerville Hills. A neighbor spotted the suspicious intruder and chased it into the local recreation area where the dog jumped into the swimming pool and had to be rescued.
But the story doesn't end here.
A couple of days later, there was that same pit bull once again roaming the streets. No leash, no collar, no owner.
Could this be a modern day Hound of the Baskerville Hills?
This sparked a neighborhood reaction as residents took to their local list serve to discuss what should be done about the mysterious prowler. During all the back and forth, one anonymous person ventured a very politically-incorrect comment.
"Maybe it is time for dog owners to take control of their animals."
At that moment, every flower in Baskerville Hills died.
In response, one professor jumped into the discussion to come to the defense of pit bulls and those who own them. According to the learned professor, pit bulls represent the racist, middle class attitudes of American society.
That is because, the professor continued, racist Americans associate pit bulls with street gangs, you know, Mexican, Salvadoran, and African-American types. Thus, American society has hung an unfair and racist label on pit bulls-and those who own them, you see.
The professor went on to explain how many of us who view Latino and African-American men as "frightening" have no problem "breed-profiling" the dogs that are identified with them. The professor ended with a plea to "stop from fomenting middle class panic by spreading rumors and fear about alleged dangers that are racially marked."
And that seemingly put the issue to rest-at least until the next time another pit bull is spotted roaming the otherwise tranquil streets of Baskerville Hills.

This past week, the University of New Mexico Student Government passed a resolution condemning Islamophobia.

As a former reporter and editor for my own college daily newspaper, I would have loved to have gotten that much readership. The only problem with your article, however, was that it fell short of asking the obvious questions of the people you interviewed.
You devoted over a third of your article to your interview with Ihsan Wadud-Rodriguez who claimed, “Those very cultural practices which are not supported by Americans are also not supported by Islam. There is no contradiction: I don’t experience any self-discrepancy between my American values and Islamic values.”
Why didn’t you ask her, “For example?” or “Name a few Islamic cultural practices which are not supported by Islam.” I think you would have found if you had taken the interview one level deeper, you would have discovered that she was blowing smoke. In Islam that practice is called Taqiyah.
I tracked down Ihsan, and I asked her about her statement. Here is the dialogue:

There was an article recently about University of New Mexico’s ASUNM Resolution 6S which calls for a ban on “prejudice against Islam or Muslims, especially as a political force.” You were quoted in the article According to the article, you said, “Islam has been unfairly confounded with cultural practices. Those very cultural practices which are not supported by Americans are also not supported by Islam.” Your impressive résumé indicates that you came from Saudi Arabia. Some of the practices there which are clearly not supported by Americans include beheading people for minor offenses including leaving Islam, chopping of the hands of petty thieves, forbidding Muslim women from marrying non-Muslims, stoning adulterers, FGM, and allowing old men to marry pre-pubescent children. So I am trying to understand your statement. Are you saying that all of these offensive practices “cultural” and therefore unrelated to Islam? Looking forward to your response.
Ihsan: It seems that you have learned a few things about me. Would you mind introducing yourself?
Name deleted: I am nobody in particular. I have studied Islam in depth since before 9/11, and I written three books about Islam. (You can’t Google them, because I use a pseudonym.) You told the reporter, David Lynch, that you just wanted to spread understanding. Well, this is your chance. If people have misunderstood the religion of Islam or the cultural practices that are not part of Islam, please explain those things to me and help me understand. In turn, I will help spread the word to my large audience. I want people in all parts of the world to live in peace, and that sounds like your objective, too. Let’s make this happen.

The “teaching opportunity” from this exchange with Ihsan is that merely recording an interviewee’s talking points without follow-up questions puts the reporter in the position of being a convenient megaphone for propaganda. Challenging the interviewee to provide facts and data, helps ferret out truth from falsehood. Reporters are (or should be) reporting the truth – even when it cuts against the grain. As Mark Twain once said, “A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.”

This past week, Vanderbilt University joined the list of schools that has experienced the scrawling of swastikas on campus walls. In this case the specific victims were members of a Jewish fraternity house.
A group of young women from Young Women For America at Liberty University has produced a video in support of the fraternity and asking people to oppose this growing trend of anti-Semitism.
