A researcher named Sameh Egyptson has submitted a thesis that was approved earlier this year by Lund University that describes how the Muslim Brotherhood has infiltrated Swedish Society. As a result, the State-run Ethics Review Appeal Board has moved to file charges against the researcher. This board, which is reportedly made up of left-wing activists, has itself come under fire from defenders of researchers. A complaint has been filed against the board with the Parliamentary Ombudsman.

The below article from the conservative Swedish news site, Fria Tider, is translated by Fousesquawk. The article also mentions the case of Lund University researcher Kristina Sundquist, who was targeted for criminal prosecution by the Ethics Review Appeals Board because she was reaching immigrant rapes in Sweden (which happens to be a big problem.)

Charges filed against thesis that Sweden is infiltrated by Muslims

Domestic. The thesis, "Global political Islam? Muslim Brotherhood and Islamic Federation in Sweden" at Lund University is the subject of charges by the controversial Ethics Review Appeals Board (Önep).

In the thesis, which was approved earlier this year by Lund University, Sameh Egyptson writes how Islamists tied to the Muslim Brotherhood are infiltrating Swedish society.

He himself describes the 744-page-long study as the result of 20 years of work.

The Ethics Review Appeals Board (Önep), a controversial state board of leftwing activists, has now filed charges against the study. According to Önep, the thesis handles sensitive personal information connected with political and religious beliefs, as well as information as to criminal court judgments without the necessary ethics review permission.

"I have not used a single interview or secret document, everything comes from open sources," says Sameh Egyptson himself to Sydsvenkan (news).

Önep's attempt to stop politically incorrect studies has drawn attention recently. Earlier this year, over 2,000 researchers signed an open letter to members of Parliament that demanded a change to the Swedish system of so-called ethics review.

Fria Tider has previously written how left-wing activists in Önep attempted to have Professor Kristina Sundquist of Lund University convicted of a crime because she researched immigrant rapes. The case ended with the prosecutor dropping the preliminary investigation this summer.

Prior to this, Önep was reported to JO (Parliamentary Ombudsman) by Academic Rights Watch, which explained the members' leftwing activist commitment and comical fight against "racism". 

Chairperson Ann-Christine Lindeblad, herself, as a member of the judiciary, among other things, made a controversial decision in 2019 that made it significantly more difficult to deport convicted immigrant rapists. In the meantime, the 69-year-old had to leave her post after she was caught shoplifting.

"The professor seemed to justify the onslaught, arguing that “settlers are not civilians” and later posting, “No government on earth is as genocidal as this settler colonial state,” referring to Israel."

"Grewal continued to defend and seemingly delight in Hamas’ violence, saying at one point: “It’s been such an extraordinary day!” In the ensuing days, she compared Israel’s military response to the Hamas atrocities to the Holocaust."

Like so many other universities across the nation, Yale University, one of the most prestigious Ivy League schools, is experiencing a wave of anti-Semitism on campus. Like other schools, it is not just students who are causing the problems, but professors as well., In the case of Yale professor Zareena Grewal, there are rising demands that she be fired for comments she made on social media (X) celebrating the horrific Hamas attack upon Israeli civilians on October 7.  

As is my custom when looking into controversial events on campuses, I have referred myself to the Yale Daily News, the campus newspaper of Yale. There are two articles I have found of particular note.

On October 12, the Yale Daily News reported that a petition to fire Grewal had reached 25,000 signatures.

Subsequent to the disastrous congressional testimony of the presidents of Harvard, M.I.T., and the University of Pennsylvania on December 5, the Yale Daily News posed similar questions to Yale President Peter Salovey on December 6.  He was specifically asked if calling for the mass murder of Jews at Yale would be met with disciplinary measures. Unlike the three aforementioned presidents, Salovey's answer was a direct and unequivocal condemnation of such speech. (He had previously condemned the attack itself). In the same article, a university spokesperson was reported as having defended Grewal's freedom of speech. 

Mixed messages?

Of course, it can be argued that Grewal's despicable comments were outside the scope of her position at Yale and that they were protected speech. I get all that. I would also add that during the time I was teaching part-time at UC Irvine, I was also operating this blog, which some Muslims, like the folks at CAIR,  consider Islamophobic, according to however they choose to define the term. I must say that even though I was openly critical of the Muslim Student Union, Students for Justice in Palestine, the UC Irvine administration, and the entire UC system when it came to anti-Semitism, the administrators of the university always respected my freedom of speech. Of course, I never called for the mass killing of any group of people. Even now, I am not celebrating the reports of thousands of Palestinians being killed in the Israeli-Hamas war in Gaza. Will I celebrate the destruction of Hamas after what they did on October 7? Absolutely, but considering the horrific atrocities they carried out that day against innocent people, including infants, beheaded and burned alive, my feelings are understandable, quite in contrast to Grewal, who celebrated October 7.

The open celebrations of October 7 by Hamas supporters on university campuses should cause all university presidents, including Yale, to ask themselves what kind of students-and professors- they have representing them.

Mass Shooting in Prague

 Today, European newspapers are exploding with the preliminary reports of a mass shooting in Prague that has left at least 15 dead and some 30 wounded. The shooting occurred at the Charles University Philosophy building. The shooter is identified as 24-year-old David Kozak, a student at the university, who is also dead, possibly by suicide. Images show the shooter armed with a  rifle firing from atop the building. It is reported that he first killed his father. The motive is unknown.

Obviously, at this stage, some reported details may turn out to be inaccurate, but that is what is being reported at the moment.

Italy: Verdict for the "Honor" Killing of Saman Abbas

We have been following the sad story of Saman Abbas, the 18-year-old Pakistani girl who was murdered by her own family in Italy in 2021 for refusing an arranged marriage in Pakistan. Her parents, uncle, and two cousins all fled but were apprehended with the exception of her mother, Nazia Shaheen, who remains in hiding in Pakistan and was sentenced in absentia.

This week, an Italian court handed down its verdicts. The father, Shabbar Abbas, who was extradited from Pakistan, is sentenced to life imprisonment, as is the mother, . Saman's uncle, Danish Hasnain, who was the principal perpetrator of the murder, received fourteen years, while Saman's two cousins, were acquitted.

This is hardly the outcome many of us had hoped for. Presumably, Hasnain, who was considered the most culpable, received more lenient treatment because he led police to Saman's remains.

Life imprisonment for the father, Shabbar Abbas, and for the mother, Nazia Shaheen. Fourteen years for the uncle, Danish Hasnain. The criminal court of Reggio Emilia ruled in the Saman Abbas (18) murder trial after almost five hours of deliberations.

No compensation for the brother and boyfriend of Saman, both of whom were civil parties in the trial for the death of the 18-year-old. It emerges from the ruling by the Reggio Emilia Criminal Court that the parents are sentenced to life imprisonment, fourteen years for the uncle, while acquitting the two cousins. Compensations are instead granted to associations for violence against women (25,000 euros each), to the Islamic ones (10,000 euros), to the Union of Lower Reggio Municipalities (30,000 euros) and the municipality of Novellara (50,000) 

Sweden: Jimmie Åkesson 's Plain Talk to Muslim Immigrants

 Swedish politician Jimmie Åkesson, leader of the Sweden Democrats has recently made a video addressed to Sweden's Muslim immigrants in which he criticizes the refusal of many to integrate and to respect Swedish laws and values. To them, he suggests that they return home. With the help of AI, the video is in Arabic, and it appears that he is actually speaking Arabic.

As I was searching for something to translate from Swedish, I discovered that this is apparently not the first time Åkesson has spoken "in Arabic" to the immigrant audience. SD's YouTube channel has a previous video from a month ago of Åkesson giving a similar talk. This one has English subtitles. So without further ado, I am cross-posting it. It is 14:05 minutes long but well worth a listen.

The Colorado State Supreme Court Ruling

The Colorado Supreme Court, in a 4-3 vote, has issued a ruling that would keep Donald Trump off the presidential ballot in that state in 2024. They base their reasoning on Section III of the 14th Amendment. That is a Civil War era amendment that states:

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Similar lawsuits have been filed in several other states. 

I must preface this by reminding the reader that I am neither a lawyer nor a Constitutional expert. Nevertheless, my opinion is that this ruling is wrong and will be reversed on appeal by the US Supreme Court. The ruling is based entirely on the above-mentioned amendment. It is also based on the apparent opinion of the majority judges that Trump did, in fact, engage in insurrection or rebellion against the US Government. Many people share that opinion, but it is just that, an opinion. 

It appears here that the judges have taken on the roles of investigator and juror. The problem is that Trump is not convicted of insurrection or rebellion. In fact, he is not even charged with such crimes. He is charged in connection with the January 6 incident and conspiracy to overturn the election result, but that case has yet to be tried. Yet, the Colorado decision means that the judges can rule based on their own opinion that Trump engaged in insurrection or rebellion. Wouldn't it be better to wait until he is convicted of such charges?

This highlights the danger that activist judges pose. In this case, it appears that Democrat-appointed judges (all the judges, including the 3 dissenting judges, are Democrat-appointed) have not only put their hands on the scales of justice, but our election system as well. 

How ingenious this is. Trump is leading in all the polls. For the Republican nomination, he is way ahead of his closest competitors. The indictments have not changed that fact. He also leads Biden by a few points. Clearly, the left and the Democrats are alarmed. But now they have come up with what appears to be a knockout blow. That is to disqualify him from the ballot based on this amendment that was originally drafted to preclude former Confederate officials from participating in the government. If this ruling stands, and other states follow suit, Trump has no chance. Is this what our democracy is becoming?

You add this to all the other Democrat tricks, mail-in ballots, ballot harvesters, restoration of voting rights for convicted felons, lower the voting age to whatever, and open borders with a "pathway to citizenship" for illegal migrants. Step by step, the Democrats are trying to lay the groundwork for making the Republican party all but irrelevant far into the future. Say hello to a one-party nation. Say goodbye to democracy. 

This decision cries out for a quick reversal. Presently, Trump stands convicted of no crime. He is presumed innocent of the charges against him (which do not include insurrection or rebellion). Whatever you think of Trump and his actions/inactions on January 6, how do you make the case that this decision is fair to Trump, his supporters, or those who would vote for him?

Åkesson speaks about Swedes in plain text in Arabic

In a new speech, Jimmie Åkesson addresses himself directly to Muslims in Arabic to explain what applies in Sweden. And that here no religion can rule over politics. (For) those who do not accept Swedish values, Sweden is not the right country to live in.

It is with help from AI that Åkesson speaks Arabic. And he explains directly to the Arabic-speaking target group that in Sweden, certain laws and regulations apply that no religion can supersede.

"Sweden will remain a free and democratic land," Åkesson maintains.

Set boundaries

What Åkesson does is set boundaries for what Sweden can accept from foreign cultures. He says that (Sweden) can certainly be perceived as strange and foreign for those who come from far away, but here it is our values, civil freedoms, and rights that apply.

In particular, religious freedom is stressed since for many Muslims, it is hard to understand the right not to be forced into any religion.

" I understand that our way of life here in Sweden can be strange-even incomprehensible for you who have your background and culture where religion has a central place in everyday life. Who have been raised in the belief that holy scriptures and the prophets decide how we should live our lives and form our societies."

" I can understand that, but religious freedom has been a given for us Swedes for over a hundred years.  And (if) you can't accept that, then I don't think Sweden is the right country to live in. Then you can go home to where you came from," says Åkesson.

Islamism that breeds terrorism and oppression

Åkesson is also very direct as to which part of Islam he is opposed to.

"Islamist, therefore, does not mean the same thing as Muslim. They are two  different things."

"As a politician, I have no viewpoints as to what people believe in for a god. That is a private thing.." But then Åkesson states that political Islam, Islamism, and Islamists are "the evil of our time".

"They want to abolish our democracy, and our freedom of expression. That includes forcing one's religion on another, stoning women, and persecuting and executing homosexuals, Christians, and Jews. It is forced marriage, and it must be done."   

Åkesson has no (tolerance) for such things. And he asks how someone could be upset over this message.

Timely- should have been said 40 years ago

And it is quite astonishing that this direct message has not been delivered from the highest leadership in Sweden earlier. All the establishments are humming, muttering, and looking at the floor. They dare not say how things are: That we do not intend to surrender our Swedish traditions and our constitutional freedom and rights.

But now, Åkesson says that it should have been said by prime ministers, party leaders, and other society-supporting institutions for the last 40 years.

One explanation for the catastrophic failed integration is that Swedish leadership did not speak clearly, rather they let it appear that people did not have to assimilate into Swedish society.

This speech is an essential societal act. A speech which can clear the air and clarify what is demanded to live and work in Sweden. If someone wants to live completely according to Islamic doctrines, there are many countries where Islam is the dominant religion in society. Sweden is not one of them.

UC Middle East Studies Professors Throwing a Hissy Fit

The latest issue of Inside Higher Education has a thought-provoking article by Sara Weissman on the issue of professors presenting their personal opinions in the classroom. It comes in the wake of October 7 and the Israeli incursion into Gaza, a topic that has exploded on college campuses. Dr Michael Drake, the former chancellor at UC Irvine and now president of the UC system, is attempting to deal with the uproar on his own campuses by apparently throwing money at it, 2 million dollars to be spent on what appears to me to be more sensitivity training. The term that is being thrown around here is "viewpoint neutral". That has raised the hackles of several UC professors who feel that they will be muzzled in the classroom as opposed to being able to preach the pro-Palestinian, anti-Israeli narrative.

Dr Drake was chancellor at UC Irvine during most of the years I taught part-time there (1998-2016). I have never met him, but he appears to be a decent man and not an anti-Semite. Yet I was critical of him as UCI chancellor because it was my view that he was not adequately confronting the problem of campus anti-Semitism. So while I give a big yawn to this latest news, many of the liberal, anti-Israel professors under his command, particularly those engaged in Middle East Studies, are raising the red flag. 

As I have pointed out many times in other articles, Middle East Studies is a problem in itself. Far too many campuses have Middle East departments that have been funded and actually established with money donated by Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Unsurprisingly, they are nothing more than indoctrination centers for pan-Arab, anti-Israel, anti-West propaganda. A prime example is UCLA's Center for Near Eastern Studies. (I don't know if they have ever received Middle Eastern money.)

"They also said Dr. Drake’s comments undeservedly called into question the “academic integrity” of UC professors already teaching about the Middle East.

“We insist … that professional historians and those in allied fields trained in the study of the Middle East are best-positioned to determine the curriculum, safeguard rigorous standards of research and teaching, and protect the climate of open discussion and critical inquiry which are the cornerstones of our scholarly community,” the letter read."

Open discussion??!! I have also called into question the academic integrity of (certain) professors teaching about the Middle East, both in the UC system and beyond. I stand by that criticism. Based on that opinion, I consider the contents of the second paragraph above to be a joke.

The linked article mentions some of the UC professors who are alarmed, including my old nemesis at UC Irvine, Mark LeVine. I am no member of his fan club, and he is no member of mine, but his statements quoted in the article, while hardly surprising, are worthy of a response.

"Scholarship is “based entirely on developing a point of view based on evidence and your research and your qualifications and arguing it,” said LeVine, one of the drafters of the letter. Professors should be sharing their perspectives, and “if that understanding is critical of any particular ideology—it could be Zionism, it could be capitalism, it could be communism, it doesn’t matter—you go with your research. That’s why we’ve been hired by UC.”

You know the old expression, "Opinions are like ----s. Everybody has one." I acknowledge that many, if not most professors agree with LeVine. They also agree that they should be free to advance their particular beliefs about the world in the classroom. Full disclosure: I am not a professor; I only possess a master's degree, but I do have about 25 years of teaching experience, and my view is that teachers should teach their topics and leave their own opinions at the door if possible. I should note that my teaching field was English as a second language, and it was fairly easy to keep my views about outside issues private. I grant you it is much more difficult to do that if teaching history, political science etc, but I don't think it is impossible. As for LeVine's examples, there was a time when the field of eugenics was very popular in German universities even before Hitler took power, at which time, it really took off. Needless to say, the professors of that day in Germany were very positive about eugenics, which heavily stressed the "scientific proof" that Aryans were superior to other groups of people, most notably Jews. And they were professors, scholars who did the "research".

We should not assume that just because the man or woman standing in front of the class is a professor, his or her words should carry particular weight. There are more than a few professors in universities around the country who are nothing more than fools. Some people think I am a fool, but they can't base that view on anything I ever said in my classroom.

LeVine continues:

"But “the university is not a space of comfort,” he said. “The university is a space where every premise you’ve ever had in your life should be torn down and you have to be forced to recreate it based on all the new things you learn,” whether that process strengthens or changes a student’s original positions."

How many times have I heard this before? How many times have I heard someone say that Jewish students who support Israel should not be able to feel comfortable on campus? How many times have I seen Jewish students bullied and had their own events disrupted by pro-Palestinian goons on campus?And yet, it is these same people who cry about "triggering", "micro-aggressions", "macro-aggressions" and plead for "safe spaces" when confronted with views that are pro-Israel, pro-America, conservative, Republican, etc. Apparently, LeVine believes that "every premise" that a student brings to the university is a false premise. I disagree.

To sum up, I wish Chancellor Drake well in his effort to bring some reform, if you will, to the UC classrooms, not to mention peace and tranquility. However, I doubt that the concerned professors in the UC system have anything to worry about. They will continue to exercise their "academic freedom" to indoctrinate students in the classroom. After all, this is a monster that has been some 60 years in the making. Nobody is going to change it overnight. But we can start.

A Very Troubling Survey

Campus Reform, a conservative site, has just posted the results of a very troubling survey. A Harvard-Harris poll reports that a majority of Americans between the ages of 18-24 believe that Jews are "oppressors" and that the Hamas attack against Israel on October 7 was justified.

If this is accurate, our society is in deep trouble.

Based on my own experiences with campus anti-Semitism over the years, it would also represent three other things:

1. The indoctrination of our youth in schools and universities has been successful.

2 The well-organized pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel movement on our university campuses has also been successful. 

3 The resurgence of anti-Semitism, both worldwide and in the US, has reached a level that should concern every decent human being. 

When I use the term successful in points one and two, I mean successful to the other side, Hamas and their Jew-hating supporters. They are the winners, not us, not Jews, not decent people who know a thing or two about history-namely the Holocaust. 

Let's go back over the three points above.

1 Nowhere has the pro-Palestinian movement received more support-even after the horrors of October 7- than our university campuses. Fertile field indeed because for several decades now, our universities have been in the firm control of the extremist left. They have been preaching to our students, our children, that America is a racist endeavor, an imperialist nation that needs to be turned upside down. As part of this anti-America, anti-West campaign of indoctrination, Israel, a strong US ally, has been singled out for condemnation. Conservatives and supporters of Israel, the West, and the US speak out at their own risk on campus. Their speaking events are routinely disrupted by students with the encouragement of certain faculty and the refusal of administrators to stand up and confront the radicals. 

In many universities, there are Middle East Studies departments, some funded and established by money from Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Most are nothing more than centers of anti-Israel, anti-West, anti-US propaganda. They even have their own professional association, the Middle East Studies Association (MESA), just another anti-Israel propaganda arm. If all that isn't enough, some universities pretend to have Jewish studies, many of which are infested by-you guessed it- anti-Israel activists.  

In short, our universities, with few exceptions, are morally and intellectually corrupt. They have refused to fight back against anti-Semitism and protect their Jewish students. The recent testimony of three university presidents, (Harvard, M.I.T.,  and the University of Pennsylvania) shined the light on just how low our universities have sunk.

2 We must give the devil his due. The worldwide, pro-Palestinian movement has been enormously effective. During my years teaching part-time at UC Irvine, I personally witnessed (attended and videotaped) countless speaking appearances by well-known anti-Israel activists; Omar Barghouti, Ben White, George Galloway, Amir Abdel Malik Ali, Cynthia McKinney, Hatem Bazian, Abdul Alim Musa, Mohamed al-Asi, and so on. Most of these people are nothing but anti-Semites, but it is worth noting that some of them are misfit Jews who despise the State of Israel and have cast their lot with those who would destroy the Jewish state and kill whatever Jews were remaining in the new Palestine. 

The Palestinian activists have certainly convinced Europe that their cause is just. Israel has few true friends among European governments, and the political leaders have stood by and watched their Jewish population persecuted by recent Muslim immigrants. In the wake of October 7 and Israel's response, European streets, like American streets, are filled with screaming mobs waving Palestinian flags and calling for the murder of Jews. Is it any surprise that thousands upon thousands of Jews are leaving Europe? They realize they have no future in Europe. They have seen this play out before, a repeat of the 1930s in the runup to World War 2 and the Holocaust. In a few decades, when the Europeans have finally become a minority on their own continent, few if any Jews will remain.

Then there is the UN. How many anti-Israel resolutions have they passed over the decades? How many since October 7? (8 at my last count) How many anti-Hamas resolutions have been passed since October 7? (0)

3  It is now beyond debate: The situation for Jews worldwide is the worst since the Holocaust. October 7 itself was the worst atrocity against Jews since the Holocaust. What Hamas did on October 7 was so shocking, so bestial, that any decent-thinking human being would have recoiled in disgust. Even if one supported the Palestinian cause and was critical of Israel, would they not stop and reconsider their position in the wake of October 7. Would they not say to themselves: "Is this what I have been supporting?" Sadly, the answer is no. 

October 7 has shown the world what will happen to Israeli Jews if Israel falls. If they don't get out, they will be massacred. And where can they go and live in safety? The immediate response is the US, but look at what is happening here. There will be no Holocaust in the US, to be sure, but our Jews will not be safe from anti-Semitism. Is this what is to become of our great nation? If we cannot or will not protect our Jews, or any other group, from prosecution, then our country will not be worth a dime.

There may be flaws in the above survey; I don't know. But we need to wake up and take this to heart. This trend needs to be reversed starting right now. As the saying goes, Never Again is now.

A few days ago in the Swiss canton of Neuchatel, a 25-year-old Algerian asylum-seeker was arrested by police outside a grammar school where he was acting in a threatening manner and shouting, "Allahu Akhbar". Swiss authorities decided that there was no information linking him to terrorist organizations.

So, what to do with this young man?

Easy. Since he had originally applied for asylum in Germany, it was decided to deport him back to Germany. Where he will go from there is anybody's guess. Chances are Algeria won't take him back. So now he is the Germans' problem.

The man who caused panic in a grammar school will be sent back out of the country. The terrorist (theory) is definitely ruled out.

The threatening man arrested 8 December near a school in Cortaillod (NE-Neuchatel) will be sent out of Switzerland. The 25-year-old Algerian will be escorted to the German border, the location of his initial asylum request. He will be handed over to the authorities of that country who will take charge of him. The Neuchatel Public Prosecutor's (Office)  announced on Friday they have opened a criminal investigation for threats against the population. It will next issue a ruling after taking into consideration both the nature of the facts as well as the personal situation of the accused.

The young man, who had behaved in a threatening verbal manner, had filed his first asylum request in Germany and then transited several European countries under different identities. "As of today, no connection to terrorism has been established, and the subject is not the object of any alerts within the European Union in this context," one can read in the statement of the police and the Neuchatel Public Prosecutor's Office.

"The judicial record of the accused concerns small and mid-size criminality. The behavioral problems of this individual, notably observed by the personnel of the Boudry Reception Center upon his arrival have been confirmed by a medical diagnosis," the police and Public Prosecutor's Office added. The applicant had arrived in the canton of Neuchatel only a few days before the incident. 

Administrative detention

"After being medically stabilized in a secure environment, the subject was transferred today in a state of administrative detention outside the canton of Neuchatel with a view to his removal from our country," the police and Public Prosecutor's Office stated.

The "Amok" Protocol (prevention of attacks in schools) had been triggered after the individual had shouted, "Allahu Akhbar" in a threatening manner. "The teachers of the school reacted in an optimal manner thus protecting the children from the confrontation with this individual, who did not penetrate the school establishment and who was quickly intercepted by police," according to elements of the statement.

UCLA: The Moral Equivalency of the Daily Bruin

It has been announced that UCLA is among a growing list of universities that are being investigated for allegations of campus anti-Semitism by the Department of Education, Office of Civil Rights. That fact is reported in this week's edition of the campus newspaper, the Daily Bruin.

Even since October 7 and the fighting between Israel and Hamas, campus papers all over the nation have tried to walk a fine line and not offend either side. So it is with the Daily Bruin. I am cross-posting three op-eds this week concerning the Israeli-Hamas war. One is a letter signed by faculty concerned about the atrocities committed by Hamas/campus anti-Semitism, and two taking an anti-Israel position, one of which is a letter signed by faculty against Israel. I note that I am personally familiar with two of the names of UCLA faculty members who signed the anti-Israel letter, Robin Kelly and Saree Makdisi, both of whom are noted anti-Israel activists. I have seen both of them speak at UC Irvine.

A third op-ed accuses UCLA of being complicit "in the genocide of Palestinians". This hysterical piece is signed by "Graduate Students for Justice in Palestine."

As to the free speech article signed by UCLA faculty members: Has anybody at UCLA or any other campus been arrested or expelled simply for protesting on behalf of Palestinians and/or Hamas? For waving a Palestinian flag? For wearing a Palestinian keffiya, either around the neck of covering their face? Not that I am aware of. Nor has anybody been suspended or expelled from any university for doing the above-that I am aware of. Those are protected expressions under our law, just as people like myself have the right to comment on those actions, to condemn them. What is not protected speech is bullying, assaults, threats, vandalism, or disruptions of the free speech rights of others, all of which are routinely committed by pro-Palestinain groups like Students for Justice in Palestine. In addition, the Robin Kelley's and Saree Makdisis of the world have been attacking Israel (verbally and in writing) for years. They are still teaching at UCLA, are they not? You see, these people, be they students or faculty, do not want to even be criticized by outside voices for their activism. They say we are attacking their free speech as if mere disagreement and criticism constituted censorship or silencing. What a spurious argument for people who are supposed to be educated and intelligent to make.

As for the third op-ed by "Graduate Students for Justice in Palestine", to talk of genocide of Palestinians is silly. In the past decades, the Palestinian population has exploded, tripled by some estimates I have seen. Were the Allies committing genocide against the German or Japanese people in World War 2? Of course not, and they did not go to the lengths the Israeli military has gone to limit civilian casualties when virtually every major German and Japanese city was leveled by air attack. I also point out that the op-ed makes no mention (let alone condemnation)  of what Hamas did on October 7, which led to a rightful declaration of war by Israel against Hamas. I see no mention of the fact that Hamas is using its own citizens as human shields as they have always done when fighting Israeli forces. That is why so many Palestinian civilians have died. Their blood is on the hands of Hamas.

In fact, nowhere in the letter is the word Hamas even mentioned just as it is not mentioned in the faculty letter defending "free speech"!

It is no wonder that the country is looking at our universities and wondering what the Hell is going on. We will continue to do so because that is our right of free speech. It is also our right to ask why our tax dollars are given to public universities like UCLA in the face of how Jewish students are treated. It is the right of donors to give their money to someone else. And if universities will not protect their Jewish students from harassment, it is the responsibility of government to investigate.

Hamas Members Arrested in Europe

Were plotting attacks against Jewish targets in Europe

A total of seven suspects have been arrested today in Germany, the Netherlands, and Denmark. At least four of them (in Germany and the Netherlands) are believed to be members of Hamas, acting in concert to attack Jewish institutions in Europe. This should give Europeans who support Hamas something to think about. When you have Hamas operatives in the West planning attacks against the West, it is hard to imagine so many thousands of reprobates marching and protesting on their behalf on  Western soil.

Arrested Rotterdam terror suspect is a member of Hamas according to German justice (authorities)

The Dutch terror suspect who was arrested today in Rotterdam is being held as an active member of the Palestinian terror organization, Hamas. That is being reported by German justice authorities. The 57-year-old man, Nazih R., according to German authorities, has for years been a member of Hamas and reportedly participated in foreign operations of the organization. What those operations are is not known. 

Three other suspects in the same investigation are in custody in Germany. They are Mohamed El-R. from Egypt and Lebanese-born Abdelhamid Al A. and Ibrahim El-R. The four, according to German authorities, have close ties with the military leaders of Hamas. They are "strongly suspected" by the German Public Prosecutor of membership in a foreign terror organization.

The Dutch police earlier reported today that the man arrested in Rotterdam is wanted by Danish and German authorities. In Denmark, there were also three suspects arrested. Whether there is a connection with this case is not known.

The National Coordinator for Counter-Terrorism and Security in the Netherlands will not comment on this case. This week, he raised the threat level in the Netherlands from 3 (significant) to 4 (substantial). That means that there is a real chance that an attack will take place in the Netherlands. The threat level in Germany was also raised recently. 

Weapons storage site

German authorities say that one of the four arrested men, on the request of Hamas, went looking for a weapons storage site. He reportedly was tasked by Hamas leaders in Lebanon. Three of the four men, according to authorities, traveled out of Berlin looking for weapons with the goal of carrying out an attack on Jewish institutions. Another (suspect) supported them in this (effort).

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu says that Danish security services have thwarted an attack upon civilians in the "name of Hamas". The Israeli Secret Service Mossad says that "Hamas infrastructure on European soil" is exposed.
