There was a time in Germany when German parents were forced to have their children join the Hitler Youth (boys) or League of German Girls. Now, under the government of Angela Merkel, parents get fined if they withhoild their children from school visits to mosques.

A Tribute to Jackie Wilson

Having grown up in the 1950s and 1960s, I naturally grew up listening to Rock 'n Roll. Many of the performers were white, like Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis, and many were black, like Little Richard, Chuck Berry, the Drifters, and many others. Regrettably, skin color was a big deal then in America as the Civil Rights movement was still struggling.  When it came to music, people forgot about race. We all just enjoyed each others' music.

One the biggest stars of that era was Jackie Wilson (1934-1984), who came out of Detroit before the era of Motown took off. His signature song was "Lonely Teardrops", one of his earliest hits.

Looking back on Jackie Wilson today, I think he was so under-rated in terms of his versatility. I have picked out two of his other hits, not as big as "Lonely Teardrops", but both of which were my two favorites of his. They are very different from each other. In the below video, "Baby Workout"(1963), you see an example of Wilson's electrifying stage performance and his great dancing ability. This was performed on the show, "Shindig".



Now go back to 1960, when Wilson released this incredible love song, "Alone at Last", an adaptation of Tschaikovsky's Piano Concerto Number One.




Wilson lived a turbulent life. In 1961, he was shot in New York by a jealous girlfriend. Even more sadly, Wilson's last years were tragic. In 1975, he was struck by a massive heart attack on stage and  spent his final years bedridden. In addition, like so many other black performers of the age, Wilson was exploited by unscrupulous record producers who cheated him out of his royalties.

It is sad to read of Wilson's short, turbulent life. It is also sad to compare his music for what passes as pop music today. As I have said before, the dominance of hip-hop and rap seems to have replaced one of our great American art forms-black music. Where did all the Jackie Wilsons go?

While persecuted Pakistani Christians like Asia Bibi continue to languish in Pakistan under threat of mob death, Pakistani Muslims continue to show their contempt for Christianity in Europe. A recently-arrived 41 Pakistani man has been charged with vandalising a church basilica in the St Denis neighborhood of greater Paris.

What I missed While I was in Hawaii

Having spent the past week in Maui, I was not able to report on the goings-on in the country and the world. While you may have already heard of these stories that occurred last week, I thought I would collect some together in one posting in case the mainstream media somehow failed to report them.

New York University, a campus plagued recently by various expression of anti-semitism, has responded to the problem by giving the so-called President's Service Award to none other than Students for Justice in Palestine.If you want to make a statement about anti-semitism, what better way to do it than honoring one of the main perpetrators?

Not to be outdone, Maxine Waters (D-CA), who is now head of the House Financial Service Committee was lambasting bank CEOs on Capitol Hill over the issue of student loan defaults. She asked what they were doing to fix the problem. That's when they politely informed her that the government had taken over the student loan program several years ago.

While Waters', who President Trump refers to as "low-IQ", may be excused for her ignorance, Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA), just plain made it up. In she told JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon that one of her constituents in Irvine, a woman named Patricia, was a  bank clerk on one of Dimon's banks. Quoting Patricia's (starting) salary, Porter rattled off all of her monthly expenses and asked how Patricia could afford to live as a single mom on such a salary. The CEO had no idea how to answer, except that it turns out there was no Patricia. Porter had made it all up. That didn't keep CNN from lauding Porter, bringing her on air, and putting the best possible spin on it. There were "thousands" of Patricias out there.

"So there is no Patricia out there," Porter said, adding, "but in the other way, there are thousands and thousands, and tens of thousands of Patricias out there."

Must have been a trick Porter picked up while teaching at UC Irvine Law School.

Meanwhile, the Democrats in the New York State legislature, which they control, after approving $27 million in aid for student Dreamers, rejected an expansion of tuition aid for family members of servicemen/women killed in the line of duty.

And on the international front, the foreign secretary of the nation formerly known as the UK, Jeremy Hunt, recommended withholding aid to countries that persecute Christians. That sounds good to me except that the UK is the same country that refused to give asylum to Asia Bibi in Pakistan for fear that UK Muslims would riot (which they surely would). This week, after German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer told the Reichstag what a great job Germany was doing in reducing violent crime, Alternatif fuer Deutschland deputy Martin Hess took to the floor and soundly rebutted him. Germany is  more unsafe now since the days when the Red Army was closing in on the capital back in 1945. The reason? Uncontrolled migration from mostly Muslim countries. Since 2015, thanks to Angela Merkel, more than one million so-called refugees have poured into Germany from the Middle East, Africa and other hell holes like Afghanistan. The results have not been pretty. Still the charade continues.

Justin Trudeau vs Sultan of Brunei

Back in 2017, Canada's dopey prime minister, Justin Trudeau, decided he would mark an Islamic holiday with gay pride and kill two birds with one stone. So he came out with some dopey statements that implied that Allah was gay or something like that. Here is the result:

Justin apparently didn't remember that homosexuality is considered haram in Islam (It's a no-no) even though some Muslims do, indeed, practice gay sex. Let's just say that Trudeau's words may be considered blasphemous by many Muslims.

That takes us to the Sultan of Brunei, who has just decreed that adultery and homosexuality are forbidden by sharia law, and, therefore, from this point on in his bailiwick, will be punished by death.




But lest you think that the Sultan is some paragon of virtue, think again.

In case Trudeau was planning on a state visit to Brunei, I suggest he reconsider.

How pathetic is this? Vlad Tepes has posted a couple of recent Swedish videos showing Swedish authorities pleading with the public to help them in the latest wave of rapes occurring in the country thanks to their government's insane immigration policies that have turned Sweden into a multi-cultural paradise  hellhole.

Women are advised not to go out alone at night lest they be raped. The populace is asked, "If you see something, say something". (Of course, you will only be called a racist and your entire career and livelihood will be put at risk if you do.)

How much better if the police would tell their government to stop with the importation of hundreds of thousands of Muslims because it is they who have made Sweden the rape capital of Europe. Yet, they won't even identify where the problem is coming from. The closest you will hear them say in these tapes is that in most cases, the perps are not even drunk-which is a clue in itself given the Islamic prohibition on alcohol. I can just envision the new code language in Sweden. "The rapist is described as a sober male."

French Police Thwart Planned Terror Attack Against Kindergarten

French police have arrested a man who they say was planning to attack a kindergarten, take hostages, and kill cops who would arrive on the scene. The man, who is not idfentified by the French media, reportedly confessed his plans to police and said he was an admiror of Mohammed Merah, who attacked a Jewish school in Toulouse in 2012 killing a rabbi and three children.

Columbia University: More Anti-Semitism from SJP

Students for Justice in Palestine, Hatem Bazian's* nationwide collection of brown shirts, continues to traffic in anti-semitic discourse  and imagery. In promoting this year's Israel Apartheid Week at Columbia University, they have produced a poster showing an Israeli soldier with horns protruding from its head.

Of course, this is just another example of SJP and its allies using old anti-Jewish tropes to promote the Palestinian cause. And don't be fooled by Jewish Voice for Peace. If this were the 1930s-40s, they would be walking around with swastika armbands. Below is a statement from Columbia's Students Supporting Israel chapter. This week, in order to promote their so-called Israel Apartheid Week, Columbia SJP, CUAD, And JVP circulated a flyer throughout campus. At first glance, the flyer looks somewhat unproblematic but, upon close inspection, one can easily see the depiction of an Israeli soldier with horns on his head. While the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a profoundly complex situation which can harbor intense emotions from the victims of both sides, such a disgusting and cheap act of portraying Jewish soldiers with physical deformities is downright abhorrent and anti-Semitic and must be condemned by Columbia University. This kind of repugnant caricature of Jews is a sore reminder of blatant anti-Semitism from the dark ages of medieval Europe when anti-Semitic propaganda depicted Jews as satanic consorts and an incarnation of absolute evil. Physically, Jews were portrayed as menacing, hirsute, with boils, warts and other deformities, sometimes with horns, cloven hoofs and tails. It is extremely painful to see that the same rhetoric is being used on the campus of an Ivy league university in the United States. This horrendous act by SJP must not go with impunity. Lame excuses on the basis of free speech or creating political satire must not be the basis of exoneration. We, as a pro-Israel student group, will not deny the current geopolitical complexities of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and are always eager to promote dialogue and engagement among students on campus to foster a pathway to peace. However, we shall not remain silent about SJP’s use of this blatantly distasteful and anti -Semitic imagery. We strongly condemn this disgusting act by SJP and demand proper disciplinary actions from Columbia University. SSI Columbia has already filed an official complaint to the school. We plead all of you to take a strong stance against this. University of California Horse Feathers

Walk across either of our campuses on just about any day of the week, and the cacophony of diverse speakers is readily apparent."

UC Irvine chancellor Howard Gillman and UC Berkeley Law School dean Erwin Chemerinsky have a  long history of white washing campus disruptions of conservative or pro-Israel events on their campuses, to say nothing of denying campus anti-Semitism. Now, in response to President Trump's executive order demanding free speech protections for all  (if universities want to continue receiving federal funds), the UC system is reacting with defiance. First, Janet Napolitano issued a statement that can only be considered defiant. Now, Chemerinksy and Gillman say there is no problem on their campuses.

Gillman and Chemerinsky are full of it. Look what happened when Milo Yiannopoulos was supposed to speak at Berkeley. It had to be cancelled (by UCB) because a riot ensued while campus police posed as potted plants and did virtually nothing. While teaching at UC Irvine 1998-2016, I witnessed several disruptions of pro-Israel events, and I also missed a few. They continue to occur since I left. In May 2018, a College Republican event featuring Israeli military reservists was disrupted by a group of Antifa-type thugs. (SJP was on probation because of their prior disruptions.)

Not only that, but when Chemerinsky was law school dean at UC Irvine, people affiliated with his own law school participated in disruptions of pro-Israel events on campus in May 2016 and May 2017. How? Because Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and the Muslim Student Union enlisted the aid of "legal observers" from the National Lawyers Guild (NLG). In case you didn't know, NLG was founded in the 1930s as a legal arm of the Communist Party USA. When both of those incidents occurred, NLG had an official affiliation with the UCI law school. I was present at the latter event and videotaped the whole thing. I personally saw an NLG/UCI Law School representative present. (They wear lime green baseball caps with National Lawyers Guild-legal observer written on them.) I personally interviewed this young woman earlier the same week, and she confirmed her association with both the law school and NLG. 

If you get the impression that May is a bad week at UC Irvine, you are correct. That's because it is in May when the SJP and Muslim Student Union hold their annual hate-Israel week of events and Students Supporting Israel hold their annual I-Fest (I for Israel) celebrating Israel's independence day. (At leats they try to hold their events.)

But worse than the free speech issue, Gillman and Chemerinsky should be ashamed of themselves for failing to address the problem of campus anti-Semitism and failing to provide proper protection to their Jewish students. The same goes for UC Pressdint Janet Napolitanio and virtually all of her chancellors.
