This week, Janet Napolitano made headlines by announcing that University of California campuses will be sanctuaries for students who are in the country illegally. It seems that in the case of UCLA and UC Berkeley, we have sanctuary campuses for professors found to have sexually harassed female students. In the below article in American Thinker, Cinnamon Stillwell, who is the West Coast representative of Campus Watch, highlights the cases of Gabriel Piterberg and Nezar AlSayyad, both of whom have been penalized by UCLA and UCB respectively for sexually harassing coeds, but who have kept their jobs in spite of widespread student protests.

There have been many instances where male students accused of similar offenses or even rape have been the victims of campus kangaroo courts even when they turn out to be unfounded charges. The University of Virginia and Duke lacrosse cases come to mind. Rape and sexual assault are serious offenses. Each case and each allegation should be taken seriously and be handled by professionals. While the accusations against Piterberg and AlSayyad were probably not criminal in nature, they represented allegations of serious professional lapse of ethics. Professors are in a position of authority vis-a-vis students, and there should be zero tolerance for professors who use their positions to pursue romance on campus. That's why singles bars were invented.

Huge Victory in Senate in Fighting Campus Anti-Semitism

But for many years the spike in anti-Semitism on campus has been linked to extreme anti-Israel activity, especially BDS campaigns. Our 2016 mid-year study of top 100 universities by Jewish population found a 45% increase in campus anti-Semitism as compared with the same period in 2015. And the suppression of Jewish students’ speech and the disruption and/or shutting down of Jewish events by protestors nearly doubled compared with years past. Our research showed that the presence of BDS activities, anti-Zionist student groups and anti-Zionist faculty were the strongest predictors of anti-Semitism on campus.
“The State Department’s definition, a definition endorsed by the world’s leading scholars of anti-Semitism, is the only definition that encapsulates the way anti-Semitism presents itself on campus today, including those acts that cross the line from criticism of Israel into blatant anti-Semitism, and having the Department of Education begin using it is long overdue. We look forward to helping Representatives Roskam, Deutch, Lowey, Engel, Ros-Lehtinen, Granger, Israel, and Smith, the co-chairs of the Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Anti-Semitism, pass this legislation in the House. With Attacks On The Rise, Sens. Casey and Scott Introduce Bipartisan Anti-Semitism Awareness Act
Washington, DC, November 29, 2016 – Today, U.S. Senators Bob Casey (D-PA) and Tim Scott (R-SC) introduced the bipartisan Anti-Semitism Awareness Act in an effort to combat increasing incidents of anti-Semitism on college campuses nationwide. The Senators joined together to ensure the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) has the necessary statutory tools at their disposal to investigate anti-Jewish incidents.
A recent FBI crime report notes that 58.2 percent of religiously-motivated hate crimes were due to the offender’s anti-Jewish leanings, and the Anti-Defamation League found that the number of anti-Semitic attacks at colleges and universities doubled in 2015. Currently, the DOE’s Office for Civil Rights has stated they will not tolerate incidents such as these, but has not issued firm guidance on what constitutes anti-Semitism. The Anti-Semitism Awareness Act would codify the definition as one adopted by the U.S. State Department’s Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism.
“It is incredibly important that we work together to stamp out anti-Semitism and other forms of religious discrimination across our country,” Senator Scott said. “I want to thank Senator Casey for joining me to introduce the Anti-Semitism Awareness Act, which is urgently needed as anti-Jewish attacks rise on campuses across the nation. By clarifying exactly what anti-Semitism is, we will leave no question as to what constitutes an anti-Semitic incident.”
“The rise of religiously-motivated hate crimes and religious discrimination across our country is unacceptable. In Pennsylvania, we have seen several terrible incidents of anti-Semitism in just the last several weeks,” Senator Casey said. “This legislation will help the Department of Education investigate incidents of discrimination motivated by anti-Semitism in our schools, which should be safe environments for students from all backgrounds. The State Department’s definition, shared by the European Union, states, “Anti-Semitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of anti-Semitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, towards Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.”
Examples include, among other things:
- Calling for, aiding, or justifying the killing or harming of Jews
- Accusing the Jews as a people, or Israel as a state, of inventing or exaggerating the Holocaust
- Demonizing Israel by blaming it for all inter-religious or political tensions
- Judge Israel by a double standard that one would not apply to any other democratic nation
This act is not meant to infringe on any individual right protected under the First Amendment of the Constitution.
The Anti-Semitism Awareness Act is supported by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the Anti-Defamation League, the Jewish Federations of North America, and the Simon Wiesenthal Center.

Roskam, Deutch Target Campus Anti-Semitism
Washington, D.C., December 2, 2016 – Today, U.S. Representatives Peter J. Roskam (R-IL) and Ted Deutch (D-FL) introduced bipartisan legislation to combat the rising tide of anti-Semitism at our nation’s college campuses. The Anti-Semitism Awareness Act broadens the Department of Education’s (DOE) criteria to include all forms of discrimination against Jews, including extreme anti-Zionism and anti-Israel harassment. This legislation will equip the DOE to accurately identify, investigate, and punish all forms of Jew-hatred.
Anti-Semitic attacks on college campuses have nearly doubled in recent years according to recent reports. Although the DOE’s Office for Civil Rights has actively combatted these incidents, the Department lacks firm statutory guidance on how to define anti-Semitism. By codifying the definition of anti-Semitism adopted by the U.S. State Department’s Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism, this legislation will enable the DOE to protect students from the most insidious and modern forms of anti-Semitism, which are often masked as anti-Zionism.
Per the State Department’s definition of anti-Semitism, shared by the European Parliament Working Group, "[a]nti-Semitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of anti-Semitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities."
Examples of anti-Semitism under this definition include the following:
- Calling for, aiding, or justifying the killing or harming of Jews
- Making mendacious, dehumanizing, demonizing, or stereotypical allegations about Jews as such or the power of Jews as a collective.
- Accusing the Jews as a people, or Israel as a state, of inventing or exaggerating the Holocaust.
- Accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel, or to the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide, than to the interest of their own nations.
The State Department’s definition also defines the three “Ds,” which indicate when anti-Israel rhetoric is indeed anti-Semitic:
DEMONIZE ISRAEL:
- Using the symbols and images associated with classic anti-Semitism to characterize Israel or Israelis
- Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis
DOUBLE STANDARD FOR ISRAEL:
- Applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation
- Multilateral organizations focusing on Israel only for peace or human rights investigations
DELEGITIMIZE ISRAEL:
- Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, and denying Israel the right to exist

However, he is under fire on a number of fronts given his associations with questionable Muslim individuals and organizations as well as remarks he has made that many call anti-Semitic. Specifically, Ellison is having to explain remarks he made in a past speech about Israel and her supporters. The comments were made in 2010 at a fundraiser for Esam Omeish, a past president of the Muslim Brotherhood-linked Muslim American Society. As a result of this revelation, the Anti Defamation League, which had been supporting Ellison's candidacy for the DNC position,dropped its support.
Now Ellison is complaining that the remarks in question have been edited and taken out of context by the Investigative Project on Terrorism (IPT). In response, IPT is releasing the complete speech Ellison made-transcript and audio.

Palestinian Culture

This past week or so I have watched the news reports about the fires raging in Israel with sadness and outrage. These are not accidental fires rather cases of arson. Suspects have been arrested, and it is pretty clear that these fires are the latest terror tactic of the Palestinians. Indeed, Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza are celebrating in their usual style. They heartily approve of these outrages.
Just as they heartily approve of other acts of terror against innocent Israeli citizens-not to mention acts of terror against the US, such as 9-11.
I am old enough to remember the late 1960s and 1970s, after the 1967 war launched against Israel by her Arab neighbors, a war won in 6 days by Israel. (To be accurate, Israel launched a preemptive strike as Arab armies were gathering on her borders.) I clearly recall the skyjackings carried out by Palestinian terrorists. I also recall the 1972 Munich Olympic terror attack that wiped out the entire Israeli team. I was living in Italy in 1985 when the Achille Lauro Italian cruise ship was boarded by Palestinian killers. An elderly American Jew named Leon Klinghoffer was shot and thrown overboard in his wheelchair by those savages.
It was the Palestinians who gave those outrages to the world. Unlike the Israelis and Jews they sought to murder en masse, Palestinians were contributing nothing else to the world in the way of inventions, arts, science, music, sports, or anything else. Just murder.
But then the Palestinians gave us suicide bombings, suicide belts and blowing up buses. That was the new tactic since skyjackings had become too difficult. Long security lines at airports, which we still endure today, had cut those to a minimum (notwithstanding 9-11. That was not conducted by Palestinians; they just celebrated.). Soon, Israelis had to fear boarding buses or going to a simple pizza parlor lest some Palestinian walk in with a bomb strapped against his or her waist. Mothers were now raising their children to be suicide bombers.
Naturally, the Israelis had an answer to that. They built a wall, not to keep their own citizens trapped inside a'la the Berlin wall, but to keep murderers out and protect Israeli citizens. It has been pretty effective. Yet, US college campuses have wailed in protest. How dare Israel hinder the travel of
Palestinians? How dare they set up humiliating check points?
Of course, while all this was happening, the noble government of Gaza (otherwise known as Hamas) was periodically lobbing rockets into southern Israeli schools in places like Sderot. The Israelis responded militarily trying to attack the Hamas fighters while minimizing civilian deaths, an impossible task especially when you consider that Hamas shields their fighters by using civilians and their homes and schools from behind which they fight. Again, the world reacts in selective outrage against Israel.
Then there is the West Bank under the control of Mahmoud Abbas. This is the entity that US presidents expect Israel to negotiate a peace treaty with. All they do is educate their children that Jews are evil monsters via textbooks, music and cartoon shows that would make the old Nazi publisher and Gauleiter, Julius Streicher, and his Der Stuermer blush with envy. In addition, every once in a while, killers set forth to murder Israelis living in the disputed settlements. In one truly infamous case in 2011, two young Palestinians entered the home of the Fogel family in the settlement of Itimar and slit the throats of Ehud and Ruth Fogel and three of their children as they slept in their beds. Even their 3-month-old baby was murdered in its crib. And what was the reaction of the Palestinian population? They danced in the streets and passed out sweets-just as they did on 9-11. The killers were celebrated as heroes. What kind of culture is this?
Now the Palestinians have added a new facet to their celebrated culture: Forest fires and arson. And once again, the people cheer and celebrate the actions-not of pyromaniacs, but cold-blooded arsonists.
I am no expert on the origins and history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I am not denying that Palestinians may have some valid talking points and grievances, Yet, when they embraced terrorism as their weapon, murdering innocent Israelis, Americans and others in pursuit of their goal, they lost my sympathy a long time ago. At this point in time, they have not demonstrated to me that they are worthy of running their own country. At this point an independent Palestinian state would be nothing more that a base for terror against Israel and any country that has friendly ties with the Jewish state.
Like the United States.
That is why I take issue with the American college students and their faculty enablers who support the Palestinian cause. They damn Israel for trying to protect itself while totally ignoring the murderous culture of the Palestinians, a murderous culture of death that seeks to eliminate every last
Jew from the Holy Land.

Protest at UC Irvine Against Trump and North Dakota Pipeline

As previously reported, I missed out on the BIG protest at UC Irvine last week against Donald Trump and the North Dakota Pipeline, but the campus paper New University covered it.

A coalition of pro-Palestinian brown shirts and their useful idiots have written a letter to University of California president Janet Napolitano complaining that they are being picked on especially since the election of Donald Trump.
What is amazing is that the very people who disrupt and bully Jewish students are crying because they have been exposed. They complain about the UC Regents' Statement of Principles Against Intolerance (they lobbied against it being passed) because it was because of their outrageous antics UC system wide that led to the UC Regents passing it in the first place. And why are they crying? Because David Horowitz's Freedom Center put up posters on the campuses of UC Irvine, UCLA and Berkeley exposing Students for Justice in Palestine and the Muslim Students Association for what they are: anti-Semitic bullies who support Palestinian terrorists in the Holy Land.
And these threats against them? Manufactured. Their voices being silenced? Manufactured. These are the same people who disrupted a Jewish film event at UCI on May 18. (SJP, MSU, JVP and the communist National Lawyers Guild-attached to the UCI law school I might add.)
So cry on, Crybabies. Maybe someone will hand you pacifiers.

It is about removing every last Jew from what is currently the state of Israel and replacing it with a Muslim Palestinian state. Years of bullying of Jewish students by members of Students for Justice in Palestine and Muslim Student Association chapters have provided one illustration after another. Now SJP and MSA at Canada's Ryerson University have given further proof by walking out on a student body measure that would have observed the Holocaust.

The solution is simple. We must ban Christmas parties so as not to offend Muslim jihadists.
Of course, if you are an Islamophobe, you might come up with the simple-minded idea that Tashfeen Malik's husband did not have to attend the Christmas party or that Malik did not have to come to our infidel country in the first place.
