Meanwhile at UC Irvine, the administration is also shaking in their boots over the #Blacklivesmatter protests. At a recent meeting, one young lady proclaimed that UCI hates her (because she is black). Below are two articles from the UCI New University campus paper.

"Anti-blackness". That is the latest buzz word on college campuses.

Never mind that until last year, the chancellor at UCI was black (Michael Drake-now president of Ohio State), and that UCI currently has a black vice chancellor for student affairs.
Here is my point: If you are a black student at a prestigious school like UC Irvine, you are hardly at risk. At risk are those young people in the inner cities who are dropping out of school, getting involved in drugs and gangs, and having kids out of wedlock-who will also be at risk. Those are the ones we need to be concerned about.
As for grievances against black students, what specifically are they? Are they being harassed and assaulted on campus? Are they being beat up on campus? Are they getting bad grades they don't deserve from racist teachers? I do not see UCI as being hostile to black students, and I have been on campus for 17 years.
As usual universities are consumed with all the wrong issues. College students are hardly victims, but so many are told that they are and all too willing to believe it. Where are the professors and administrators who teach our youth that anybody can make it in America if they put their minds to it? As for the sense of victimhood, it tends to be a self-fulfilling prophesy.

Somalis in Seattle Want Teacher Fired Over Cartoons

It has been a very bad week in Seattle. Here is the latest from Latteville. It seems that a group of Somali immigrants don't like the lessons on free speech American style that they are getting in Seattle's schools. They want a teacher fired because she showed her students images of Mohammad cartoons that sparked the Paris attack on the office of Charlie Hebdo.

Guess What Happened in France Today
If you guessed that French soldiers guarding a Jewish community center were attacked by a knife wielding Muslim, you would win a new car.
Too bad they didn't have American cops guarding the center. If they had, that suspect would be dead.

Cubs Trilogy: Ken Hubbs, Ron Santo and Ernie Banks

Last week, Cub fans lost Ernie Banks, who died just short of his 84th birthday. Obviously, he was not the first former Cub to pass. However, he was not just any former Cub. He was Mr. Cub, the most beloved Cub in the history of the franchise-not just for his baseball greatness, but for his qualities as a person.
His passing brings to mind two previous deaths that brought great sadness to Cub fans. In 2010, Ernie's teammate, Ron Santo, preceded him in death after years of poor health. He was 70. If Ernie was the most beloved Cub, Ron was clearly number 2. He had remained with the team as a radio broadcaster and was clearly pained by not seeing his team make it to the World Series. He never realized that dream. Also, he didn't live to see himself elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. That came after his death.
While Ernie passed after a full life and Ron could have lived several more years if it had not been for health issues (He suffered from juvenile diabetes even in his playing days and eventually had both legs amputated.) Both experienced the utter tragedy of the premature death of another one of their teammates. That was Ken Hubbs in 1964. Hubbs was an all around athletic star at Colton (Ca) High School who was National League Rookie of the Year in 1962 when he set a record for consecutive errorless games as a second baseman. He was destined for stardom, but died when a plane he was piloting crashed in Utah in 1964. He was 22 years old. They say the town of Colton has never recovered from the loss of Ken at such a young age. He was not only a great athlete, but universally respected as a person. Santo, who was a close friend of Hubbs, took his death especially hard.
Cub fans of my generation have been especially touched by the passing of these three great players and great individuals. They will always be part of the Cub lore. It's another reason I will always remain a Cub fan.

This is indicative of just how bad things are in France. Two days after the murder of four Jews at a Paris market, Muslim youths came to gloat at the scene of the crime.

Sunday's Bizarro Superbowl
No doubt about it: It was a truly bizarro super bowl Sunday.
No, I'm not talking about that bizarro catch that Jermaine Kearse made on the 5 yard line in the last minute. Nor am I talking about that bizarro call for a pass at the 1/2 yard line that was intercepted by the Patriots to seal the victory. I'm not even talking about the bizarro half-time show where Katie (or is it Katy?) Perry rode out onto the field on some kind of Trojan horse. Here is what I think was bizarre: Did you see that NFL public service announcement during the game-you know the one about domestic violence?
"Yeh, Ah did."
Then surely you remember when shortly after the interception, a real domestic brawl broke out between the two teams. It was a real donnybrook. For a minute I thought all 80,000 fans were going to run onto the field and join in the melee, kinda like those super bowl half time shows. Now that was a real public service announcement!
Then there was this: Later that night, ex-NFL star and broadcaster Warren Sapp was arrested in a Phoenix hotel room for assault against two "escorts".

For some reason, the Obama administration has a real problem using the word, "terrorist". A week ago, White House spokeshole Josh Earnest was asked if the Taliban was a terrorist organization. The best he could do was call them an "armed insurgency" and a "dangerous organization" (kind of like the Chicago Cubs when they occasionally make the playoffs).
Days later, the Taliban killed three American contractors in Afghanistan.
Now watch as State Department wordsmith Jen Psaki handles the same question on Friday. When asked by one reporter if she was concerned about similar incidents happening again and again, her answer is, ""I'm not going to address your question."
Now let's switch to the mountains of Afghanistan, where a Taliban spokesman is holding a news conference.
Q : "Do you consider the US to be an imperialist, colonialist, infidel force?"
A: "Well, clearly the US is engaged in activities that are quite concerning to us, but that's a different classification from what you would label as imperialist, colonial, or infidel. As Mullah Omar clearly stated on September 21 (sound of pages turning), We would prefer to let the processes play out..................."

Are UCLA Professors Who Question Diversity Requirement Being Targeted?

That's the question posed by The Campus Fix after a group of UCLA professors signed a petition that a new requirement for incoming students to take a ethnic culture course be voted on by the full faculty.

This is hardly surprising given the atmosphere at the Peoples' University at Westwood, but I would add one small caveat. Whenever I sign my name to something, I have no expectation nor desire that it be kept secret. I would have gladly signed the petition, and if anyone tried to give me any grief over it, I would have given them the middle finger.
It would not surprise me if these professors were hit with some mandatory sensitivity refresher course for punishment. They may even see some nit-wit students with signs try to picket their class. I hope they have a plan to deal with the numb skulls.

It has been a troubling week at UC Davis with this insidious measure that has become an annual ritual on so many American university campuses. Saturday morning, a Jewish fraternity house was defaced with two swastikas. Coincidence? Hardly.

I want to see how Chancellor Katehi and UC President Janet Napolitano tackle this incident. Katehi has made a statement condemning the act. The question I have is whether this incident has any legs or will it be quickly forgotten and brushed aside just as the 2010 incident with David Horowitz at UC San Diego was quickly forgotten when a female member of the Muslim Student Association endorsed the Hizbollah leader's statement that Jews should all gather in Israel so that the job of hunting them down would be made easier. Yet, during the same general time frame, UCSD was turned upside down over the Compton Cookout and the library noose incident. So will Chancellor Ketehi and her vice chancellor leader a campus protest chanting, "Not in our community"? Let us see.
