Bill Clinton Takes the Bows in North Korea

Let me say at the outset that I am very happy that the two American journalists held for 5 months in North Korea are being released. Whatever they did in entering the country illegally, it certainly did not merit 12 years of hard labor. My only reservation is that the circumstances of their release may never be known and that, in my view, Bill Clinton is stealing the credit for their release.

It was last night that I heard a news blurb (on Fox, I believe) that the basics of a deal had been made to secure the release and that Bill Clinton was flying to Pyongyang to "finalize the details".

Now today comes the news that Clinton is in North Korea, has met with Kim Jong-Il and the pardon has been issued. That is great news, but there are two questions in my mind:

1 What is North Korea receiving in return?

2 Who really brokered the deal?

3 Since the ladies worked for Al Gore's TV enterprise, what was his role in sending them to North Korea?

As to question number one, we may never know. As to number 3, Gore will never tell. As to question number 2, I feel quite comfortable in stating that:

Unnamed State Department officials and/or White House national security officials, working behind the scenes, brokered this deal. They may never be given due credit because, for some reason, Bill Clinton was chosen to go to Pyongyang and put the final touch on the deal-probably assuring Kim in Obama's name that the US Government would abide by any concessions agreed to.

What this does is, as the photos show, gives North Korea recognition and legitimacy as a nation. It also allows Bill Clinton an opportunity to repair his empty and tarnished legacy as a public figure. Hillary, the Secretary of State, couldn't go herself since the North Koreans had already called her "a schoolgirl". So the next best thing was to send Bill to steal credit from the diplomats who did the actual work.

How Clintonesque!

Of course, that didn't stop CNN's afternoon anchor, Rick Sanchez, from breathlessly asking the question:

Did Bill act unilaterally or was he sent by the administration?

What a dumb question!

So for the benefit of Rick Sanchez and CNN, I will summarize.

Unknown State Department diplomats and/or White House officials worked behind the scenes to negotiate the terms of the release.

Hillary and Bill orchestrated a trip to Pyongyang by Bill to give the final (high-level) assurances that the terms would be followed by the US, so that Bill (and Hillary) could steal the limelight and bask in the glow of a diplomatic "triumph".

Christians Massacred in Pakistan

Last weekend in the Eastern Pakistan town of Gojra, mobs went on a rampage after rumors spread that a young Christian male had desecrated a Qu'ran. Numerous homes belonging to Christian families were set on fire. At this time, eight Christians are known dead, mostly women and children. Additional casualties are expected as authorities search through the rubble and ashes of the homes.The story is described in the below article from the Times of London:

When I first heard the term, "Cash for Clunkers", I thought it was some sales pitch for Honest John's Used Car Lot. Silly me. When I heard this was just the latest in the Obama Administration's wild schemes to take over every last aspect of our lives, I thought maybe I'd had too many beers.

But alas, it's true. And predictably, this latest insane idea is going right down the toilet fast. Unless, of course, Congress sinks another 2 billion into the program-after the initial one billion has already been spent.

It appears that the offer of up to $4,500 to turn in your gas guzzler for a "fuel" efficient" car caught on with so many people that the initial one billion pledged to the program is already gone. Of course, car dealers, before they get reimbursed from Uncle Sam for the discounts, have to destroy the old engines-not exactly like burning paper, you know.

How many failed fiascoes does it take before people wake up to the fact that an inefficient government is wasting our tax dollars? This is how the government is going to run the auto industry?

And you wnat to hand over the whole health care industry to this bunch?

New York Democrats Refuse to Stand for Pledge of Allegiance

Why doesn't this surprise me? This is the same party that booed a bunch of Boy Scouts at the Democratic Convention of 2000 in Los Angeles when they attempted to lead a Pledge of Allegiance. Why? because there was a controversy over the Boy Scouts of America refusing to have gay scoutmasters.

It's the same story on our college campuses where the only group I know that opens an event with the Pledge of Allegiance is the Young Republicans. Watch the far-leftists sit on their hands during the Pledge as they wait to disrupt a conservative event.

The truth of the matter is that the Democratic Party has been pretty much taken over by the far-left, a segment which is not noted for its patriotism. Hence, they view the Pledge of Allegiance with disdain.

Health Care-The Democrats Hear it From the Folks Back Home

The August recess promises to be a tough time for Democratic members of Congress who will be going back home and trying to sell their health care plan to the public. Sunday, Snarlin' Arlen Spector got a taste of his own medicine in Philadelphia along with Kathleen Sibelius. Neither of them could explain to an angry crowd why they can't read the 1,000 page plus bill that they are so quick to want to sign. The below tape is absolutely delicious. (You should note that groups like ACORN and Planned Parenthood were also there to support Spector and Sibelius.)



Now watch and listen as New York Congressman (and Nancy Pelosi horseholder) Tim Bishop gets his head handed to him on June 22 at a townhall meeting in Setauka, New York (parts 1 and 2). Watch the reaction of the crowd when Bishop states in part 1 that "No one is talking about the government taking over health care."

And in part 2, when Bishop states, "The central point of the Constitution is to provide for the common good."

Plainly, something is stirring in America at the grass-roots level. The people don't want this health care plan, and they don't like the increasing government intrusion. American Aid Convoy to Gaza Serves Hamas' Objectives Steve Emerson

Viva Palestina USA, an offshoot of British MP George Galloway's
anti-Zionist, pro-Hamas, Viva Palestina convoy initiative, crossed
into the Gaza Strip on July 15, 2009, with 200 Americans as well as
more than $1 million worth of aid for Palestinians in Gaza. Viva
Palestina USA claims to be a humanitarian initiative desiring to help
needy Palestinians. But behind the headline-grabbing trip, events
prior to, during and after the trip reveal the anti-American, anti-
Israel, revolutionary and pro-Hamas sentiments of its organizers.

When Galloway led a Viva Palestina UK convoy to Gaza in March, he
started out with 110 trucks filled with supplies. That doubled
during a stop in Libya when the Gaddafi International Charity and
Development Foundation donated a matching volume of supplies.
The Foundation's chairman is Safi Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi, son of
Libyan dictator Muammar al-Gaddafi.

Once in Gaza, the convoy was greeted by Hamas representatives.
Viva Palestina UK gave thousands of pounds of aid and tens of
vehicles to the Hamas government. The convoy also included 12
ambulances, a fire engine and £1 million (approximately $1.4
million U.S.), which was given to Ziad al-Zaza, the Economy
Minister of the Hamas government.

In July, Viva Palestina USA led a similar convoy to Gaza, with
more than $1 million in what organizers said were medical supplies.
There, Galloway and a crew of approximately 200 Americans met
with Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, who praised the U.S. convoy as
"proof that the American people is not entirely a people of
occupation and is not entirely on the side of the criminal Zionist regime."

U.S. law prohibits providing material support to Hamas, even when
that takes the form of humanitarian aid. Five officials at the Holy
Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF), a now-defunct
Texas charity, are serving prison terms ranging from 15 to 65 years
for violating that law. In that case, jurors found that HLF routed
more than $12 million to Hamas through a network of charities
controlled by the terrorist group.

It is unknown whether Viva Palestina's delivery of goods to Hamas
officials is under any kind of investigation. However, attorneys with
National Lawyers Guild attended Viva Palestina events and provided
training on how to respond to government questions.

Galloway seemed to joke about it during a July 2nd fundraiser
outside Kansas City:

"I just want this to be clear to the FBI man [in the audience], I
am not, myself, a supporter of Hamas, I have never been a supporter of Hamas."
He invoked the memory of the late PLO leader Yassir Arafat, whom
Galloway said was a close, longtime friend. But Galloway has now twice
led convoys which delivered tons of supplies and millions of dollars
to Hamas instead of to non-governmental organizations. And this picture
seems to challenge his claim about Hamas.

The Kansas City fundraiser, one of many throughout the country, raised
$103,000 in a single evening.

The next night, at an event in New York, City Council member Charles
Barron started his remarks by leading the crowd in a chant of "Long
live Palestine." Then he introduced himself by saying "I am not a
politician. I am an elected revolutionary." Barron, a former Black
Panther Party member, was part of the convoy heading to Gaza along
with his chief of staff, Nayo Joy Simmons, and a second staffer.
Barron spoke of former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, who was
supposed to appear at this convoy send-off, but she was in Israeli custody,
after a boat she was traveling on toward Gaza was seized by the
Israeli navy.

A message from McKinney was played for the Brooklyn gathering, in
which she claimed to be bringing nothing more than crayons to children in
Gaza. Barron called Israeli interdiction of the boat "piracy," and
offered a bizarre comparison of her plight to the three Somali pirates
killed by U.S. Navy sharpshooters in April after kidnapping an American
ship captain:

"And how dare you, Barack Obama, how dare you go to Africa, kill three
Somalians for trying to protect their water when an American boat went
into Somalian waters. They tried to protect their waters from dark,
toxic waste being dumped and for you ruining their maritime, their
fish, stealing over $300 million worth of shrimp, and other kinds of
fish, starving the people of Somalia, you go and kill three Africans
to save an American ship and you're silent on the Israeli government
taking a ship" carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza.

A short time later, Father Luis Barrios told the convoy travelers to,
"Break the law. Just break it. OK?"

John Parker of the International Action Center in California was one
of only two speakers to mention Hamas by name. In doing so, he indicated
Hamas is not part of the problem:

"Is it Hamas that's denying children IVs and medical supplies while
they lie in hospitals dying? Is it Hamas that put these children in the
hospitals in the first place? No. Is it Hamas that destroyed half of
the hospitals in Gaza…and is it Hamas that put Cynthia McKinney in
jail?"

At a Viva Palestina fundraiser held June 28 at American University in
Washington, D.C., a "spoken word artist" by the name of Ibrahim
vehemently rapped about "the problem" of "Zionism." During his rap,
the young man stated:

"I promise there will be another intifada. You think our children are
scared to be martyred?"

His violent rhetoric continued throughout his presentation:

"Let the message of Shahid Ahmed Yassin revive," and "I'm your
everyday martyr, your everyday fedayeen smashing away the Zionist dream. Their
claims are all fraud. They were the chosen until they started
worshiping Satan instead of God."

Yassin was a Hamas founder and its spiritual leader until he was
killed by Israel in 2004.

Mahdi Bray, the leader of the Muslim American Society (MAS)'s Freedom
Foundation, was a featured speaker for the majority of Galloway's and
Viva Palestina's fundraising events. Following the radical rap at the
American University fundraiser, Bray applauded Ibrahim, encouraged
audience members to purchase his CD, and stated, "I like the courage."
Bray further noted that the audience comprised a small group
(approximately 60 people) because Muslims are afraid of what the
"White House" will think if they supported "the struggle of our brothers and
sisters in Palestine."

To this, Bray said, "The hell with going to the White House. I don't
want to go the White House if my Palestinian brothers and sisters
can't live in their house."

In addition to co-sponsoring fundraising events, MAS Freedom has
openly supported the efforts of Galloway and Viva Palestina on its website,
provided a container of medical supplies and equipment for the convoy
and launched the "Let Gaza Live" and "End the Gaza Embargo" campaigns
to complement the efforts of Viva Palestina.

CAIR, as previously noted, sent representatives on the U.S. convoy,
and has additionally promoted the efforts of Viva Palestina USA on the
web.

On July 14, 2009, CAIR-LA forwarded an action alert from American
Muslims for Palestine to its list serve demanding that Egyptian
authorities allow the Viva Palestina U.S. convoy passage into Gaza. On
July 1, 2009, CAIR National distributed a press release calling on the
Obama Administration to release Cynthia McKinney and 20 other members
of the convoy after they were stopped by the Israeli navy.

Among those joining McKinney in the Viva Palestina US convoy were New
York City Council Member Charles Barron, Vietnam War veteran Ron
Kovic, representatives of the extremist anti-Zionist group Neturei Karta, the
Middle East Children's Alliance, Cuba Coalition, Malcolm X Grassroots
Movement, Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán (MEChA), International Action
Center, International Socialist Organization, Workers World Party and the Answer
Coalition.

After returning to the U.S., Viva Palestina supporters met in Brooklyn
on July 27th to discuss their trip. They met at the Salam Arabic
Lutheran Church, where Archbishop Hanna said he supports a one-state
solution, that the idea of a two-state solution is unjust and is an
illusion. An interpreter summarized his statements. "We have to be
patient. We are in no rush in any way to get to any solutions. We're
here to wait. We can wait another 50 years. We can wait another 100
years, as long as we find a just solution, which is a one-state
solution, the right state for all its citizen, every person living
there – Jews, Christians, Muslims, and see the end of the Zionist
regime that racially discriminates and occupies Palestine now."

Prior to introducing the archbishop, Lamis Deek, of a group called
Al-Awda, the Palestine Right to Return Coalition, said that, while the
group's work is charitable, its "essence" is political:

"The first and foremost among them with this convoy, without question
supports is the rights of Palestinians to self-determination, the
right the government to choose, not only the government under which they
want to live, but in choosing Hamas, what they chose was one united
Palestinian state on all of the 1948 territories from the north to the
very south. That is what Palestinians chose. And in supporting
Palestinian choice we are saying we support their right to liberation
from violent colonialism." [Emphasis added]

Deek asserted that, "Jerusalem must be the capital of Palestine,"
adding, "We reject Zionism as a racist and criminal ideology."

Many of the convoy participants gathered at the Salam Arabic Lutheran
Church in Brooklyn on July 27th to discuss their experiences.
Archbishop Atallah Hanna of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of
Jerusalem echoed the sentiment from previous events that the Viva
Palestina supporters oppose a two-state solution to the
Israeli-Palestinian conflict and demand one Palestinian state, with
Jerusalem as its capital.

That is preferable to a negotiated settlement, even if it means
subjecting Palestinians in Gaza to the status quo for another 50 or
100 years, said Hanna, who made his remarks in Arabic:

"Historic Palestine from the river to the sea; that is Palestine.
Therefore, friends, we must not talk about the people of '67 or the
people of '48. The Palestinian people are one people, no matter where
they are or where they are found. The Palestinian people are one
people indivisible."

Calls for a Palestinian state on 1948 borders (before there was a
state of Israel). Direct contributions to Hamas officials. On Friday, Viva
Palestina issued a statement announcing plans for a "mega convoy" in
December with "more high profile individuals" and much more money and
supplies. Viva Palestina's actions in support of Hamas seem to echo
those of HLF, if not more boldly at that.

Fousesquawk comment: On May 21, I attended a speech by Galloway at UC-Irvine in which boxes were passed around for the audience members to make donations. Galloway repeated his assertion (a lie) that he does not support Hamas. Onw wonders, aside from the material goods, who recieves the cash?

As for Charles Barron, you may have seen his occasional appearances on Fox News or other cable outlets. He is a former Black Panther and current race monger, who has a ton of hate in his heart if you listen to his words.

Zut Alors! Another Riot in France

Did you know there was another riot in France last month? This one took place in the town of Firminy near St Etienne after a 21-year-old Algerian youth hanged himself in his jail cell, where he was being held on charges of extortion. The below account is excerpted from the website of Francois Desouche, "Le Parisienne" and "Le Progres".

"Violent incidents erupted Tuesday evening (July 7) between police and about sixty young persons in a neighborhood of Firminy, near Saint-Etienne. These clashes follow the hospitalization of Mohammed Benmoura, 21, a resident of the Grand H neighborhood, who attempted suicide while he was in police custody.

According to a spokesman for the neighborhood, "it all began around nine o'clock. The youths revolted. It was a big riot that lasted four or five hours." They threw rocks at the police, who, with the assistance of reinforcements from the CRS (riot police), used tear gas and rubber bullets. Calm was not restored until four-thirty in the morning.

Nine persons were arrested. Firemen recorded thirty-two cars torched in Firminy and the surrounding towns of Chambon-Feugerolles and La Ricamarie. Fire trucks and police cars were also damaged by rocks, as was a shop in a business district, a branch of Restos du Coeur (a type of meals on wheels establishment) and an employment agency, according to the prefect.

Mohammed Benmoura tried to hang himself while in custody, Monday night, at police headquarters. Hospitalized in a coma, his prognosis for recovery is very uncertain. According to his family, he suffered severe brain damage.

His act seems to be disproportionate when one considers that he was in custody for questioning in a case of attempted extortion.

According to "Sam", 30, who knows him well, "it was the police who beat him up. He had just gotten his driver's license and found a small job: you don't commit suicide at the age of twenty-one."


The young man's parents expressed doubts as to the conditions of his detention but are calling for calm and dignity. They asked the public prosecutor to visit the prison cell, "in order to understand what happened." Investigators are interested in the materials used in the plaster partition of the cell.

The young man later died of his injuries. The below appeared on the website of Francois Desouche and is based on a report by "Le Progrès", dated July 10:

"Three days after the death of a young man from Firminy, in a cell in Chambon-Feugerolles where he was being held in custody, the tension was still palpable. At nightfall, hostilities began between hot-headed individuals and the police. At ten-thirty at night, the firemen were called for trash can fires but also for brush fires. In a few minutes the business district of Firminy went up in flames: first the little hair-dressing salon, then the pharmacy and a physical therapist's office. By half past midnight, the fires affected the totality of the buildings.

"It's a veritable guérilla war," said an eyewitness. In the night, a thick column of smoke rose in the sky, an odor of burnt rubber spread throughout the town. Elsewhere in the city firemen intervened to stop a fire of pallets inside a shop. The fires went on all night. In the opinion of the firemen, the arsonists were very determined."'

More Vandalism Against Israeli Products (AHAVA)

Previously, I have reported on the activities of anti-Israeli activists trying to cause disruptions at Trader Joe's stores selling Israeli products. Now the wacky ladies at Code Pink are on the march organizing a de-shelving operation aimed at stores selling AHAVA products. AHAVA is an Israeli cosmetics company that uses ingredients from the Dead Sea and whose products are sold in the US. That cannot be allowed according to the mad-hatters at Code Pink.

One Code Pink member is a lady identified as "Rabbi" Lynn Gottlieb, who is also a co-director of Middle Eastern Programming (Pacific Mountain region-wherever that is) for the American Friends Service Committee, an anti-Israel collection of leftist activists and misfits. She has written an article endorsing Code Pink's action against AHAVA and advises her readers to do the following:

"Disrupting - Holding Banners, Doing Chants, Wearing Mud & Bikinis

Leafletting - handing out information to consumers, employees, etc.

Sticker-ing Products - Labeling products as made from occupied territories (be careful not to get caught) You can print on regular mailing labels “MADE BY ISRAELI
PROFITEERS IN OCCUPIED PALESTINE”

Removing Products from Shelves - Placing items in carts or baskets and moving off shelves. Place in carts with leaflets. Or attempt to purchase and then 'suddenly realize' that the products are made in occupied Palestine and refuse to buy.

Get creative!"

Creative indeed. Hell, why not just burn the store down, Ms Gottlieb? (I'd better not give them any ideas.)

But I digress. Here is another tactic that Code Pink is using to fight AHAVA (from there own web site):

"Bikini-clad CODEPINK activists smeared with mud have already rallied in Tel Aviv, New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, France , and just yesterday in DC to expose the dirty secrets of AHAVA. You don't have to don a bikini to take part in our boycott, however."

So there you have it. Another orchestrated campaign of vandalism and intimidation designed to tell people what they cannot sell or buy. And the ironic thing about this is that in many cases, it is Palestinian workers in Israel who would lose jobs if these campaigns were effective.

So what can we do? The same thing that we did during the Trader Joe's flap when we dramatically increased their business and that of their Israeli products.

Buy AHAVA. Guys, tell your wives all about the miraculous benefits of AHAVA's Dead Sea cosmetics. Spread the word. And you know what? Somewhere, some Palestinian worker will thank you for saving his/her job.

Don't let these idiots win.

Anti-Semitism in France-The Case of Ilan Halimi

Essentially, it involves the case of a young French Jewish male named Ilan Halimi, who, in January 2006, was kidnapped by a group of young African immigrants led by Youssouf Fofana. For 2 weeks, Ilan was held in a residence and repeatedly tortured, cut with knives and burned over 80% of his body. He was found along a railroad track and died within hours.

Ilan was singled out by his captors because he was Jewish.

The subsequent arrests of these thugs, their prosecution and sentencing (light by our standards) has brought forth a new wave of anti-Semitic statements and threats to the Jewish community of France by Fofana and his supporters.

This is what the new anti-Semitism leads to. When you see and hear pro-Palestinian demonstrators in Ft Lauderdale yell, "Long live Hitler" and "Jews go back to the ovens", this is what it is all about. The same things are being said on the streets of Europe, where in many large cities, Jews are afraid to venture out wearing any symbol of their Jewishness. When you hear the demonstrators and vitriolic speakers spit out the words, "Zionist Jews", it is no disclaimer. The word "Zionist" is a word they use for cover. They hate all Jews.

Read the article in the Brussels Journal. And when you hear the anti-Semitic diatribes on our streets and in our universities, think of Ilan Halimi. This is what it all leads to.

Right-Wing Terrorists Captured At Senator Feinstein's Office

This week, quick action by LAPD, acting on a distress call from Senator Diane Feinstein's office in Los Angeles, resulted in the capture of a group of senior members of a right-wing terrorist group that had been mentioned in the recent Dept of Homeland Security report. Alerted by Senator Feinstein's staff, LAPD officers converged on the office in West LA preventing what might have been a horrific attack. It turns out that the suspects had arrived at the office of Senator Feinstein to voice their displeasure with the health care plan in Congress. One of their non-negotiable demands was to speak with the Senator by phone, but the rescue operation by the police came about before that could be carried out. Curiously enough, no weapons were seized in the operation.

This is proof positive of what DHS Director Janet Napolitano was talking about when she warned us about these dangerous characters. It's about time someone starting waking up to the threat these people pose. After all, all of the suspects have been around 70-80 years. The only question is why did it take so long to bring them to justice?

The NEA-Our Tax Dollars at Work

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) is an independent agency of the US Government (a contradiction in terms?), which was created by Congress in 1965 to fund and support artists and their works of art. In FY 2009, NEA's budget was 155 million dollars. Since its inception, the agency has been the subject of controversy over its funding of controversial works of art. Recipients have included Robert Mapplethorpe, whose specialty was homo-erotic art, Barabara Degenevieve, who specialized in trans-gender subjects, and Andres Serrano, was "created" the infamous "Piss-Christ", a crucifix of a Christ figure submerged in Serrano's own urine. Well, in these days of government excess under President Obama and his "stimulus package", the NEA, which received $80 million in stimulus give-a-ways is back in the headlines.

The latest NEA grants include $50,000 (that's our tax money) to the Frameline Film House in San Francisco (need I go further?), which has just screened a pornographic horror film called "Thundercrack", which features four men, three women and a gorilla.




Also on the receiving end of our tax money is the Counterpulse, a playhouse in....San Francisco, of course. This is a real playhouse, folks, which is running a play called "Perverts Put Out" featuring naked actors on stage. Customers are invited onstage to "join your fellow pervs for some explicit, twisted fun."

Counterpulse has also received $25,000 (of our money) to put on a play called "The Symmetry Project". Symmetry of what, you might ask. This thought-provoking production explores the symetry of various body parts-all of which are involved with sex in one form or another (except possibly the nose). Basically it's two naked dolts writhing around on the floor.


So there it is, folks. Our tax dollars at work. Somewhere, Robert Mapplethorpe must be smiling wherever he is. But if you object to this use of our tax-dollars, you might write a letter to someone in Washington. To Barney Frank, perhaps?
