Recently, the Amcha Initiative, an organization dedicated to combating campus anti-Semitism, released the findings of a study they conducted, which charged that certain faculty and departments within the University of California campuses, especially at UCLA, UC Berkeley, and UC Santa Cruz, were contributing to the campus climate of anti-Semitism directed against Jewish students.
Now UCLA, which set up a task force to study the problem, has issued its own report conceding that it is the case. Here is the Amcha Initiative press release, which includes the UCLA internal report.
In reading UCLA's report, while encouraging, what I see is a lot of standard template language that could have been produced by AI. I do see mention of Faculty for Justice in Palestine and the Undergraduate Student Association Council, but I did not see Students for Justice in Palestine mentioned, nor did I see any mention of the UCLA Near Eastern Studies Department, both of which are major problems at UCLA. SJP, for its part, should be permanently banned from campus due to its well-documented history of disruption, and in my view, the Center for Near Eastern Studies should be abolished. It is little more than an indoctrination center, in my opinion.
