It's no secret that California is in a mess due to decades of Democratic-dominated politics. So much of it has garnered national news-at least from conservative news sites. Here in the Golden State (where I reside), we basically have one-party government. Not only is Gavin Newsom the governor, but the state government in Sacramento is dominated in both houses by the Democrats. Result? They can do whatever they want. The Republican Party in California is basically irrelevant.
But those of you in other states may not be aware of a couple of incidents that have just happened that perfectly illustrate what we are dealing with in California.
First of all, let's introduce the vice mayor of Cudahy, California, a community located in the greater Los Angeles area. Her name is Cynthia Gonzales, and with all the ICE activity and protests going on in Los Angeles, Ms. Gonzales has produced a video urging the local criminal gangs to get involved in defending the local turf from immigration authorities. You can see her video here, courtesy of KESQ News. Gonzalez specifically addresses her comments to two notorious street gangs in Los Angeles, the 18th Street gang and Florencia 13 gang, both Mexican-American criminal gangs in Los Angeles with a history of violence.
And get this: Gonzalez is running for a seat on the Los Angeles Community College Board!
Meanwhile, in Sacramento, Republican Assembly Member Carl DeMaio was speaking against a resolution in favor of the LGBTQ pride agenda. DeMaio, who is gay, was objecting to certain provisions in the resolution that supported biological males participating in women's sports and "gender-affirming" provisions, which he termed as being divisive rather than supporting the LGBTQ community. As he spoke, he was interrupted 4 times by the speaker of the speaker pro tempore of the Assembly, Josh Lowenthal (D-Long Beach), who decided it was more important to congratulate certain members on their birthdays. Here it is.
Such a sad state of affairs in California.
