Vetlanda: One Day Later, is the Narrative Changing?

Hat tip Fria Tider. Translation by Fousesquawk.

Yesterday, as reports were flowing in from Sweden regarding the knifing attack by a 22-year-old Afghan, it was reported that police considered the case to be terrorist in nature. Photos of the attacker, with his face visible, were shown in the Swedish media, and the information came out that the attacker was an Afghan refugee. Nyheter Idag, a conservative outlet in Sweden, has reported that the suspect's name is Tamim Sultani.

As with almost all incidents of this nature, initial reports are all over the place and are eventually corrected. Yesterday, it was reported that there were 8 victims. Today, it is 7.

But it also appears that the initial reports that police firmly believed this to be terrorist-motivated are now being revised or clarified. Now, the prosecutor is stating that the incident is no longer believed to be terrorist-related. We have translated only a portion of the below article from Fria Tider, a conservative outlet, that deals with this aspect.

Not a terror crime

Yesterday's atrocity in Vetlanda, where 7 persons were stabbed, was initially investigated as a suspected terrorist crime. This morning, Prosecutor Adam Rullman reported that the incident is no longer being investigated as a crime with a terrorist motive.

"I can say this in general terms that we have a close cooperation with the police, and we also do in this case, but it is the police who have the preliminary investigation, so it is they who answer that question," said Security Police press chief Gabriel Wernstedt to Fria Tider.

It appears that the narrative is shifting from an act of terror-lone wolf or otherwise-to that of a lonely young man who could not read, write, or speak Swedish. Now they are talking about a young man with psychiatric issues, a man worried about his immigration status in Sweden. Why the shift? Is it because this was just another example of initial reports being inaccurate? Or have the orders come down from on high that this will not be treated as an act of terror?

Here are the headlines from  today's Aftonbladet (Translation by Fousesquawk.)

22-year-old on his psychiatric problems: "I took medicine before"

Police noted how the man's mood sharply shifted

The 22-year-old man is in custody suspected of the knife attack in Vetlanda. His residency permit had expired, and he was waiting for a decision as to whether he could stay in Sweden.

He told police two years ago about his psychiatric problems

"Not now, but I previously took medicine," said the 22-year-old.

Expressen and other Swedish outlets are now quoting the words of the suspect's brother in Kabul. Translated below are the headlines:

Police and prosecutors are trying to investigate what lies behind the attack and if a terror motive can be found.

The  22-tear-old's brother, who Dagens Nyheter spoke with, doesn't think so.

"He is completely uninterested in that. He has trained in boxing for several years and has also taken many blows to the head. Sometimes, he would completely lose his patience, go crazy, and would bang his head on the wall," his older brother says to DN.

Along those same lines, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven states that this incident has nothing to do with immigration.

Löfven  on the Vetlanda act- Has nothing to do with immigration

-Posted March 4, 2021 16:41

Domestic: The 22-year-old Afghan high-schooler's attack in Vetlanda is not "a migration issue". That is the message of Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (S/Social Democrats) now.

Seven persons were injured when they were attacked by the 22-year-old Afghan in Vetlanda on Wednesday.

Earlier today, Fria Tider was able to report that the Afghan is an illiterate who was granted a residence permit with the support of Stefan Löfven's so-called high school act.

At a press conference, a journalist mentioned that the Sweden Democrats on Twitter had linked the incident with immigration policy and demanded a "complete stop for all asylum-and family immigration, including quota refugees". The journalist asked what Löfven thought about it.

"That the Sweden Democrats are out speculating is on them. We don't do that. We will await the police investigation and listen to what emerges as to motive and everything else," answered Löfven.

He continued:

"Since this is not a migration issue, as the Sweden Democrats want it to be."

So there you have it. This has nothing to do with terror or immigration. It is, like virtually all cases in Europe, a case of mental illness. So we can relax and go back to worrying about the true threat in the world-Climate Change.

This is the all-too-familiar pattern. Muslim men who go on a killing rampage in Europe are all suffering from psychiatric problems. If the authorities and media can cover up the fact that an attacker is Muslim, they will do so. Normally, full names of those arrested in Western European countries are not released to the public until conviction. That makes it easier to keep the truth from the public as to exactly what dangers are lurking out there.

It also makes it easier for hacks like the Prime Minister of Sweden to claim-preposterously- that incidents like these have no relationship to immigration. Stefan Löfven should be laughed out of office for that remark alone. But it is no laughing matter. He and his fellow political leaders have blood on their hands for their insane immigration policies that have brought Sweden to this mess. That includes the blood of yesterday's victims in Vetlanda.
