Turkish Company Offers Employment in Italy for Muslim Women Only

The Italian newspaper, Il Tempo is running an interesting story about a Turkish fashion company that does business in Italy and is advertising employment opportunities for Turkish women to work in Rome. There is a condition, however: Women who apply must be good, practicing Muslims.  The below Il Tempo article features a video response by Giovanni Donzelli, an official with the political party, Fratelli d'Italia (Brothers of Italy).

Translation of article:

"The announcement of work is of that standard. A position of administrative employee, a stipend of 30,000 Euros "negotiable", work site in Rome. The business is Modanisa, a Turkish group in the sector of e-commerce in Islamic fashion. And it is here that vthe problem begins because one of the characteristics (requirements) is that  the new hire must have the knowledge and practice of the Islamic religion Yes, you have read correctly. Denouncing this is the national executive coordinator of Fratelli d'Italia (Brothers of Italy party), Giovanni Donzelli.

"They are offering for an obedient (observant) person with a knowledge and practice (experience) of the Islamic religion-explains Donzelli. The announcement, which appears on some online sites, is from Modanisa. And it is very serious that such a business offers work in Italy carrying out practices so manifestly discriminatory. If an Italian business had made a request with the practice of the Catholic religion being a prerequisite, there would justly be a disaster.

"Secularism in Italy and religious liberty are fundamental principles of our constitution,"-he underlines- and nobody can think of being able to impose rules tied to another society on our country. If these people want to work in Italy, they have to offer work accepting our principles and our values- we cannot consent to this system transgressions not with Italian companies nor foreign.  Any attempt to forcibly Islamicize work places must be cut off.  We cannot allow that those who don't accept our rules be able to operate in Italy."

The basic theme of Donzalli's videotape is that if people want to do business in Italy, they must abide by Italian laws or keep their businesses in their home countries.

Below is a short post on the story on Donzelli's blog. It says essentially the same thing, and the Il Tempo article used most of it for their report.
