Mother Who Lost Son to Illegal Alien Disrespected at UCLA

Hat tip The College Fix

The Bruin Republican chapter at UCLA hosted Sabine Durden, whose son was killed by an illegal alien who had been deported and returned to the US. She was met by  hostile students in the audience who mocked her. This is just the latest outrage on the UCLA campus, where outrageous incidents are the norm.

Note the amazing comments in the above article about how Durden's talk caused "pain". What about her pain? And one student had the stones to say that she didn't have in-depth knowledge of the issues. Really? I think if you lose a child to an illegal alien, you have in-depth knowledge.

Kudos to the Bruin Republicans. They shine like diamonds in a sea of UCLA mud.

It is entirely possible that this grieving mother does not have a particularly good grasp on the larger issues of immigration policy. I wouldn't massively revise policies affecting millions of people because the man who killed her son happened to be in the country illegally. In particular, I would not revise policies that provide some security for law-abiding residents who work hard, pay their taxes, and lack legal status, just because someone who entered the country illegally, violates the law, doesn't work much, and doesn't pay taxes, murdered her son. There are some things that could be tightened up, but it requires a scalpel and a wrench, not a sledge hammer. A grieving mother is not the best source of wisdom for over-all public policy.

On the other hand, I doubt that the students had the courtesy or finesse to say it this way.

Siarlys,

This grieving mother is indeed one of the larger issues. She is not the only one. There have been many and it is an issue. We need to secure our borders and those who are caught entering illegally a second time should face jail time.

Those who are caught illegally a second time DO face jail time! And the efforts to provide safe residence to long-term residents only applies to those with clean records. If someone can slip through the enforcement along the boarder, illegally, then, they can indeed commit other crimes before being caught... and its not for lack of effort to catch them.

Illegal is illegal, period. It is not a mere mistake. America has the right and duty to decide who can come here.

Miggie, are you spitting in the wind or talking to a big empty cave? Has your statement contradicted ANYTHING that anyone else said?
