The news is just breaking that a man armed with a knife and an axe has attacked and wounded approximately 15 persons on a train in the Wuerzburg area of Germany. The attacker was shot dead by police as he tried to escape.

According to the Frankfurter Allgemeine, the Bavrian interior minister has stated that the attacker was a 17-year-old Afghan. It is also reported that he came to Germany without his parents and was living with a family in the Wuerzburg area.The below report is in German. His name has not yet been released.

Authorities also cannot say what his motive was or his connection with Islam.
