Islamic Textbooks in North America: Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips

Islamic scholar and  author Abu Ameenah Bilil Philips (above) is not exactly a model of tolerance. He has apparently found himself persona non grata in several countries. For one thing, he is noted for his belief that gays should receive the death penalty. So it is troublesome to find some Islamic schools pushing his agenda in the US.

When I saw this article, I knew that name rang a bell. Sure enough, Philips was featured in a  posting from 2011 when he was deported from Germany.

Jamaica, Canada, Qatar, wherever he is living now, I hope it is far far away from the US.

I love the way conservatives are pushing gay rights, ever since they discovered Islam.

Gay rights-yes. Gay marriage no, but it's settled so we move on. I support gay rights. They should not be discriminated against hassled or attacked. On the other hand I don't think they should go looking for some cake business to refuse service to them so they can sue them.

What's liberal about that? What's conservative about that?

Well, there is this traditional notion...

Tradition? What is that? That went the way of bench jockeying in baseball.
