As has just been reported in the last hour, Belgian police are conducting a series of counter-terror raids across the country. Two or three suspected terrorists are reported dead.

A police operation connected to terrorism unfolded Thursday in a residence located at 16 La Colline Street in the center of Verviers. There are three victims according to the mayor of Verviers, which could not be confirmed by the public prosecutor's office. It regards three individuals under surveillance who had just returned from Syria. These men are tied to the Coulibaly network according to the information of the LCI.
The assault was carried out by the forces of intervention of the federal police at 17:45 according to several witnesses at the scene. Some police entered the residence while sharpshooters were located on the exterior and covering the rooftops of houses. Some shots and at least three explosions were heard.
The quarter around the train station was blocked off, and there were some ambulances on the scene. The neighboring residents were not evacuated but advised to shut themselves up in their residences.

The public prosecutors office has not confirmed the human toll of the operation, but will hold a press conference at 20:00.
