Hat tip AMCHA Initiative
It isn't often I complement anyone from the state capital in Sacramento, but here is an exception. State Assemblyman Richard Bloom (D) has written a letter to UC President Janet Napolitano in the wake of the UC graduate student workers union (UAW 2865) endorsing a boycott resolution against firms doing business with Israel. The letter points out that there is a UC policy against graduate teaching assistants pushing support for anti-Israel boycotts in the classroom and asks if that policy also extends to regular faculty.

I look forward to Napolitano's answer to that question. I would welcome a policy that says that a classroom is not a forum for some professor to get up on his or her soapbox and indoctrinate students to his or her personal political opinion. Let us get back to the business of educating our youth.
