Hillel Leaders Say No Problem on UC Campuses
I almost tossed my cookies when I read this letter to the LA Jewish Journal by a group of Hillel leaders on several University of California campuses.

(I posted a comment on this site last night. As of this morning, it has not appeared. Knowing the LA Jewish Journal, I doubt that it will.)
* Update March 12-It's posted.
Yes, of course. All those stories you hear about anti-Semitism on UC campuses is all a lie. Here is the real truth-as explained by a group of Hillel campus leaders who have a stake in seeing more, not fewer Jewish students attending UC campuses. That's because if Jewish students disappear, so does their Hillel chapter. As they say about politics these days, it's all about jobs.
You know, one of those names seems to ring a bell. Something about being sued by a lady who charged he assaulted her over some disagreement about his choice of a speaker or something like that. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it will come back to me.
Yes, of course. Here it is.

It's amazing how you recall all these old incidents and put the name together with the effort these Hillel Rabbis are making in regard to minimizing antisemitism on campus. You are also right about what they have at stake. Those fighting antisemitism on campus don't stand to make a dime and are at considerable risk. At the minimum, their motives are suspect at the most, they are muddled headed ideologues who wand the Muslims to just be nicer.
Here is what I wrote on their website. I don't know if they will publish it.
"Hillel is primarily concerned with Sabbath dinners and providing a place for Jewish students to come and mingle. It is not prepared or equipped to deal with the threats to Jewish students or the issue of antisemitism on campus. They have done NOTHING to alleviate it and, at least at UCI Irvine, have been a spectator. What these other Hillel officers have done is to give further justification of more of the same ... which they now say is "not so bad" and "everything that can be done is being done"
Would it be too much for them to sign a Pledge that they will not knowingly support any anti-Israel or B/D/S entity? They might consider that too inflammatory and make things worse."
.
These Jewish groups need to stop saying everything is OK when there are southern California Methodists blogging that Jews are being persecuted.
