For years New Jersey has been spending money like a drunken sailor on shore leave. Now the money is running out and Gov. Christie is making hard choices to save his state from bankruptcy.

It is working for New Jersey and they just might bite the bullet for now. It is just too bad California doesn't have a Governor that would do that too. And if the polls are correct, you will have Gov. Moonbeam back. I wonder how fast California will go under?

Christie is all right. Democrats in New Jersey need an occasional Republican, just to remind them they have to meet minimal standards to claim the office. Best of all, he doesn't affect the ability of our best president since John F. Kennedy to get legislation through our dysfunctional congress.

Siarlys is referring to Barack Obama.

Because Siarly is very smart, he understands that Obama is the best. When I look around and see who is against him I know that I was right when I voted for him. Too bad smart doesn't work too well with the masses.

Gary, I thought it was obvious who I was talking about, but thank you for making it clear to anyone who missed it.

Ingrid, it is sometimes hard to tell whether you are being sarcastic or not, but I sense, by the end, that you also see some merit in our president. I think I have a good sense of where "the masses" are running, and its not to the Russo Consulting Firm front group known as "Tea Party Express." Lots of people are confused, uncertain, angry, and are going to scatter their votes in a lot of different directions.

That is partly because so many Democrats are spineless wimps, who cower in fear of demagogues instead of standing up firmly and confidently with a positive program. It is partly because Obama let the DNC take over Obama for America, rather than Obama for America taking over the DNC, so to speak. If he'd taken bold action to break up the "too big to fail" banks, as Bush did not, he would have grabbed half the votes that are willy-nilly running after the Republican siren song, hoping that someone, somewhere, sometime, will offer than a real deal. Damn the torpedoes and the pathetic charges of "socialism," FULL SPEED AHEAD should have been the program. They won't get it from the Republicans. But then, the Republicans aren't taking control of congress either. Congress is going to be a muddled mess when all the votes are in, because what's being offered voters is also a muddled mess.
