They're Baaaack: Mark LeVine and Matthias Mossberg Try to Revive Their Parallel Peace Plan-and Lagging Book Sales

Al Jazeera's favorite American op-ed writer and UC Irvine teacher, Mark LeVine, and his Swedish counterpart, Matthias Mossberg, are back, In this, their latest joint venture since their book suggesting parallel Israeli-Palestinian governments (you think the Republicans and Democrats have problems), the two intrepid peacemakers have written an op-ed for AJ which begins with a history of Jaffa and segues into a rehashing of their failed plan for Peace in the Middle East.

Look, outside of Al Jazeera and maybe the Emir of Qatar, nobody takes Mark LeVine seriously. Mossberg at least was an ambassador before he took up teaching at Sweden's Lund University, where he apparently bumped into LeVine in the school cafeteria one day, and the rest is history.

I won't waste my time talking about Jaffa, but suffice to say, the grand scheme of LeVine and Mossberg went nowhere. Suffice also to say Israel is not about to take advice from LeVine, who is no friend of Israel, or a Swedish academic. Israel has more friends on my block than it has in all of Sweden. 

But look on the bright side. Even though the Mossberg-LeVine Peace Plan went nowhere, this latest op-ed might generate a few more book sales-if it's still in print.
