The Courage of Kenji Goto
Kenji Goto
It appears as of this writing that Kenji Goto has become the second Japanese journalist beheaded by the animals of ISIS. Add Japan to the list of nations that has awakened to the reality of ISIS and their deadly ideology.
http://www.foxnews.com/world/2015/01/31/video-isis-beheads-japanese-journalist/
Goto was an experienced war correspondent who left the safety of his home and traveled to Syria to try and win the release of fellow journalist Haruna Yukawa. What remarkable courage shown by this man who apparently has been killed in a horrific and cowardly manner.
Now the world awaits the fate of the Jordanian pilot who was captured by ISIS. Jordan, while willing to trade a convicted female terrorist, has insisted on proof of life for its captured pilot. The country has also issued a statement that if the pilot is killed, they will speed up executions of their own terrorist prisoners.
Eventually, the entire civilized world is going to have to come together and destroy this cancer upon the world stage. Ideally, the Arab governments in the region would lead the way. If not, the Western powers will have to do it. Either way, these are animals and must be exterminated like the cockroaches that they are.
Remembering Hillary Clinton and Bosnian Sniper
Hat tip Frontpage Magazine
Dodging sniper fire in Bosnia
A few years ago, I posted a spoof on Hillary Clinton's fabricated encounter with Bosnian snipers when she was first lady. I didn't realize at the time that Cheryl Attkisson, then-of CBS News was on that trip with her and would help report theharrowing event lie. Attkisson, of course, has gone on to be an even bigger thorn in the side of the Obama administration and their lies.
Daniel Greenfield in Frontpage Magazine recounts that episode complete with photos and video of Hillary "bravely dodging" sniper fire in Bosnia. There is even a video of Hillary being confronted by reporters on the lie and passing it off on "sleep deprivation".
http://www.frontpagemag.com/2015/dgreenfield/new-york-times-claims-hillary-embelished-lie-about-being-under-fire-in-bosnia/
Could it possibly be that Hillary is an even bigger liar than her husband?
Did I ever tell you about the time I was on that beach in Normandy? (It was in the 1980s, and we were vacationing in France......)

Swastikas at UC Davis
This morning, two swastikas were found spray painted at the campus's Jewish fraternity. No doubt this was done by cowards in the darkness of night.
It coincides with this week's passing of a student government resolution asking the university regents to sever all relations with firms that do business with the state of Israel. Below is just the residue of this Jew hatred.
The below link has a petition where you can add to your name demanding the administration condemn this action.
http://aggiesdemandaction.nationbuilder.com/?recruiter_id=1283
Here is more from the Sacramento Bee. UCD Chancellor Linda Katehi has, indeed, condemned the act. In addition, the Aggie (campus paper) has also reported the story.

Let there be no mistake: The two events are connected.
Marine Le Pen Admonishes Euro Parliament

Federal Judge Blasts DOJ Lawyers

Eric Holder-2011 Fousesquawk Jerk of the Year

Dobyns was outspoken in his criticism of that scandal while he was involved in his own controversy with his agency. Now a federal judge, Francis Allegra, who has already ruled in Dobyns' favor in his own lawsuit, has issued harsh words for DOJ attorneys who tried to smear the ex-agent.

Operation Fast and Furious, which was a side issue in the Dobyns story, is arguably the biggest scandal in the DOJ under Eric Holder's tenure. There is little doubt at this point that Holder and his underlings (and maybe his superior, the President) are engaged in a massive cover-up to conceal the fact that F and F was their own creation. No ATF street agent in Arizona would have concocted a scheme to allow thousands of guns purchased in the US to be smuggled into Mexico. That had to have been concocted in Washington at the highest levels of the DOJ. In my opinion, Holder has repeatedly committed perjury when denying his involvement before Congress.
Dobyns, besides having his own case against DOJ and his previous employers at ATF, is also a whistle blower in Fast and Furious. This latest disclosure, courtesy of a federal judge, once again underlines the corruption that has engulfed the Justice Department under Holder.
When Will We Stand up to Iran?
This article was originally posted in Eagle Rising.
The latest flap over the Congressional speaking invitation to Bibi Netanyahu is just one reason we need to question why Western leaders are not standing up to Iran. The White House is miffed and will not even meet with Netanyahu when he is in Washington for the address. This comes at a time when President Obama is promising to veto any bill Congress sends him placing additional sanctions on the terror-sponsoring regime in Teheran.
Instead, Obama prefers to continue his fool's errand of joining with his inept European partners, like Catherine Ashton, head of EU Foreign Affairs, in negotiating with a regime that can never be trusted to shut down its nuclear program. Netanyahu understands the threat clearly, and that is why he has been invited to speak before Congress-much to the anger and consternation of the WH.
As we speak, Iran is effectively in charge of the capitals of 4 Arab nations, Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Lebanon, yet, Obama sees no need to confront them.
Add to that the recent murder of an Argentine prosecutor who was investigating the 20-year-old bombing of a Jewish center in Buenos Aires, in which figures from the Iranian government were implicated. Over 80 people died. The prosecutor, Alberto Nisman was charging that the current Argentine government under Cristina Kirschner, was conspiring with Iran to keep the issue under wraps in exchange for Iranian oil and over trade agreements. The day he was supposed to testify in front of the Argentine Congress, he was killed.
Iran is an existential threat to every country in the region, most prominently Israel, which the mullahs vow to destroy. If they get that nuclear weapon, they will use it-even if they know they will also be obliterated in response. They are that crazy.
And here is what is really scary. Most experts predict that by the time Obama leaves office, they will have it.

Another Berkeley Professor Trying to Figure Out the Meaning of Something
Hat tip Jihad Watch
The Washington Post is featuring a piece by UC Berkeley Professor M. Steven Fish, who offers us a treatise on why we see so much Muslim violence in the world today. That spurred a critique by Robert Spencer in Jihad Watch.
As you follow the link to Fish's article, you have to follow his line of thinking carefully. The bottom line as he searches for the reason for all this madness today is that it is-you guessed it- the West's fault.
Yeah-YOU!
http://www.jihadwatch.org/2015/01/uc-berkeley-prof-in-wapo-islamic-terrorism-stems-not-from-quran-but-from-muslim-frustration-at-fact-that-christians-won-big/comment-page-1#comment-1189574
As Fish mentions in his piece, Robert Spencer gives him a clue as to the cause, but Fish refuses to take the bait (no pun intended). Instead he launches on a winding hypothetical that brings us back to the same old academic party line: It is all the fault of the West and the Christians.
No further need to slice and dice Fish here. Spencer has done that very well. The only question I have is whether Fish is guilty of sloppy scholarship or shaping his scholarship to fit his personal world view. Actually, I think I answered my own question. I'll opt for the latter.
Condi Rice For President?
I was looking over the long list of probable Republican presidential candidates, and I realized that none of them have any real foreign policy experience. With all that is going on and going wrong in the world today, that could be a disadvantage especially considering that the probable opponent will be ex-Secretary of State-you know who.
Of course, Hillary's tenure was marked by her visits to over 100 countries (So what?) and the debacle and subsequent cover-up of Benghazi. At least we won't have to worry about Hillary bringing back her infamous 3 o'clock in the morning ad. She had that phone call and never answered it. In a perfect world it would have disqualified her from any future political office. Unfortunately, we live in a less than perfect world, and the reality is that Hillary will be formidable. Why I don't know, but she will be.
As things stand now, I see two successful governors as the most attractive candidates- John Kasich of Ohio and Scott Walker of Wisconsin. They have the advantage of actually having run a political entity and run it well.
Still no foreign policy experience. (Marco Rubio, who I am also watching very closely, has served on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. In addition, of course, he brings a second language-Spanish- to the table.)
Which brings me to Condi Rice. As national security adviser and Secretary of State under George W Bush, she has that experience. In addition, she is a Russian scholar. While she has never run for any political office, her time in Washington has exposed her to the rough and tumble world of politics. There are no scandals in her background and no real baggage other than the left's opposition to her participation in Bush's foreign policies. So what? It's not like they are going to vote for any Republican.
Of course, I have no expectation that Rice would leave academia to return to the mad house in Washington. I have no idea how she would fare in debates or giving political campaign speeches. But if she did run, she would bring class and dignity to the race, not to mention a lot of pizzazz in a field dominated by establishment Republicans.
As it stands right now, I think if she did enter the race, I would choose her over the others.

The Steven Salaita Saga: He Sues University of Illinois and its Donors
Hat tip Campus Watch and Commentary Magazine
Steven Salaita, the ex Virginia Tech professor who was denied a job at the University of Illinois after he put out some pretty objectionable stuff about Israeli settlers going missing (in the wake of the kidnapping of three Israeli teenagers who were eventually murdered later last year), is now suing the University of Illinois and even unnamed donors to the university. Jonathan Marks, writing in Commentary Magazine, offers his own thoughts on Salaita's chances of prevailing in this case.
https://www.commentarymagazine.com/2015/01/30/steven-salaita-sues/
Like Marks, I am no lawyer and my knowledge of civil law is considerably less than my knowledge of criminal law. (Being retired law enforcement, I have a pretty good working knowledge of the law.)
Two points jump out at me. First of all, legally speaking, the hire is not official until approved by the Board of Regents. Though that might be a rubber stamp or mere formality in most cases, Salaita knew he was controversial being an activist and in the business of offending certain people. (That would apply to me as well if I were applying for a university teaching job.)
Secondly, if he were to succeed in suing donors to the university that would, as they say, send a chilling message to donors in general. Either just send your money and keep your mouth shut or stop donating. Imagine if a university decided to give a teaching position to Charles Manson. ( I guess it would have to be an online course.) Suppose a donor decided to tell the president of the university that all donations would cease if this hire went through. Does Manson have a case if the university comes to its senses and rescinds the offer?
I won't be surprised if a settlement is reached to cover Salaita's moving expenses. What I really hope is that UI doesn't cave in and give this character a teaching job. Let him play the victim role in front of sympathetic college audiences.

Al Jazeera English Bans Words like Terrorist
Hat tip Creeping Sharia
The appropriately named Carlos van Meek, editor of Al Jazeera English, has sent out a memo cautioning his writers not to use words like "terrorist", "extremist", "militant", or "jihad" when writing about militant, extremist terrorists when they are on their mission of jihad.

Boko Haram freedom fighters with captive soldiers
Boston freedom fighters

At any rate, I commend Mr van Meek for sending out the memo in English so all of Al Jazeera's Western writers will adhere to the new policy.

Sacred Cows at UC Berkeley
You can't put a price tag on 4 years of college-especially if you have a kid at UC Berkeley. It seems every week there is a new story about the zaniness that rules at this institution. Here is the latest from Campus Reform. Here is the background: A pizza company puts an inscription on its boxes thanking cows for their milk. Result? Protests.

NBC Journalist Calls Chris Kyle a "Racist on a Killing Spree"
Hat tip Newsbusters
Today on MSNBC's "Morning Joe", an NBC journalist named Ayman Mohyeldin referred to "American Sniper" Chris Kyle as a "racist on killing spree".
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/mark-finkelstein/2015/01/29/nbcs-mohyeldin-suggests-real-american-sniper-racist-who-went
To his credit, host Joe Scarborough interrupted reporter Mohyeldin and called him on his characterization.
However, this is typical of the American left, both in Hollywood, as exemplified by Michael Moore and some other actor-slob named Seth Rogan and in the media. Had this ex-al Jazeera mouthpiece said this on any other MSNBC show, he would not have been challenged.

Benghazi: The Latest Document Release to Judicial Watch Shows How the State Department Lied About the Attack
Judicial Watch has just received documents from the State Department pursuant to a federal lawsuit that make it clear that State was lying to the public about the nature of the Benghazi attack. They knew in real time that it was no demonstration over a video gone bad. It was a terrorist attack, and they were following it in virtually real time.
http://www.judicialwatch.org/press-room/weekly-updates/another-benghazi-cover/#anc1
So the question continues to be asked: How can ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton continue to be considered a serious contender for the presidency in light of this whole mess (let alone a shoo-in for the Democratic nomination)? If the American electorate sends this woman to the White House in two years in the face of this, I see no hope left for this country after 8 years of Obama.
Hey Kamala Harris! You Have Mail!
If you are considering voting for California's Attorney General, Kamala Harris, who is running for Barbara Boxer's Senate seat, read this first. Not only has Harris spent her tenure as AG going after those "corporate polluters" and ignoring real crime, she refused to seek the death penalty for any and all murderers while she was the DA in San Francisco.
In addition, she is apparently too busy planning her campaign to answer her mail. A year ago, the AMCHA Initiative wrote her a letter complaining about a California State University math professor who was allegedly using university resources (web sites) to push his opposition to Israel. AMCHA never even got a response, so they have sent Harris a second letter.

RE:
One-Year Follow Up of Alleged Misuse of State Resources
Dear
Attorney General Harris:
It has
been exactly one year since we wrote to inform you of new evidence that we had found
regarding the case of California State University Northridge Mathematics
Professor David Klein, who has been using the taxpayer-funded CSUN website to
host his politically-motivated, antisemitic web page, entitled "Boycott Israel Resource Page", for five years. We, and many
other concerned California citizens, are extremely disappointed that you have to
date ignored our letter. Indeed no one in your office has even acknowledged
receipt of our complaint.
In our
letter, we provided substantial evidence showing that Klein has been in
violation of the following state and federal laws:
- CAL. GOV’T CODE § 8314, which considers it a misdemeanor to use "public resources" to advocate for "personal or other purposes which are not authorized by law."
- CAL. EDUC. CODE § 89005.5(a)(2)(C), which considers it a misdemeanor to "display" the CSU name or any variant of that name "in connection with" any propaganda or promotional activity "which has for its purpose the support, endorsement, advancement...[of] boycott or of any political...activity or program," without the permission of the CSU Trustees.
- 50 U.S.C.App. § 2402 (5) and § 2407 (c), which make it illegal for a state agency to engage in anti-Israel boycott activities.
Freedom of speech and academic freedom are essential on a
university campus. However, it is very difficult for us, and for many citizens
of this state, to understand how either “freedom of speech” or “academic
freedom” applies in the case of a state-employed mathematics professor who has
been using the state university’s taxpayer-funded server to promote his own
personal hatred of the Jewish state and an illegal boycott against
it.
This
matter clearly requires legal adjudication, and yet after one year you still
have not provided us with answers to the reasonable legal questions we raised.
Given the importance of this matter not only to the Jewish community but to all
citizens of the state, we request that you do one of the
following:
If Klein
is in violation of state law, then please ensure that his “Boycott Israel
Resource Page” is removed from the CSUN server and that Professor Klein is
appropriately sanctioned for his illegal behavior.
If
Klein has not violated California law, then please publicly clarify for us, and
for the citizens of California, why the substantial evidence presented in the letter we sent you one year ago fails to
demonstrate that Klein has violated state or federal
law.
We
hope to receive a response from you in the near future.
Sincerely,
Tammi

Erwin Chemerinsky and "Botched Executions"
UC Irvine Law School Dean Erwin Chemerinksy sheds a lot of tears over the pain and suffering executed murderers may experience when they are executed by lethal injection. In today's Orange County Register he gives four examples. Unfortunately, Chemerinksy gives no mention whatsoever to the pain and suffering experienced by their victims. Here is what Chemerinksy didn’t tell the reader:
1 Clayton Lockett (not Lockhart). He and his accomplices kidnapped 19-year-old Stephanie Neiman, beat her and tied her up while they dug her grave before Warner shot her in cold blood with a shotgun.
2 Joseph Randolph Wood III shot and murdered his ex-girlfriend Debra Dietz in cold blood after first killing her father, Eugene Dietz.
3 Dennis McGuire- McGuire was executed for the rape and murder of Joy Stewart, who was 30 weeks pregnant. McGuire stabbed his victim and slashed her throat.
4 Charles Warner. Warner was convicted of beating to death 11 month old Arienna Waller after repeatedly sexually abusing her.
http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2014/04/life_of_inmate_who_raped_murde.html
As to some witnesses hearing Warner saying, “My body is on fire,” don’t you think all of the witnesses would have heard him SCREAMING, “My body is on fire”?
And Chemerinsky tells us that the drug sodium thiopental, used to render the inmate unconscious, is no longer made in the US and the Europeans will not export it to us. As if science has come to a screeching halt. There must be something out there that will induce unconsciousness.
Of course, this could all be avoided if we went back to other forms of execution that would not be “botched‘. But Chemerinsky wants all executions halted because after all, Europe and other advanced countries don’t do it. So what? Given what is going on today in their societies (like France), they might want to reconsider.
Which reminds me. Isn't the guillotine guaranteed to produce instant death?
"Hey Pierre. I think my head fell off, Old Chap. Do you see it?"
"You're killing me, Erwin."
(No pun intended.)

Saudi Imam's Lunacy
Hat tip MEMRI TV
President Obama and Michelle dropped in to Saudi Arabia on their way home from India to sign the guest book for King Abdullah, who died a few days ago. Too bad they didn't get there a few days earlier so they could have hopped over to Jedda and heard the sermon from Imam Issa Assiri. MEMRI TV has the video. In this stirring sermon, ISSA opines on the Paris attacks as the only language that Christians and Jews understand. He also "sheds light" on the discovery of America,
Here's a hint: America was discovered by Muslims.

I can't wait until our State Department gives this crackhead a visa to come here and preach this stuff in some US mosque.
You laugh.

Gee. Schultz wasn't nearly so mealy-mouthed when he reportedly screamed obscenities at then-CBS reporter Sharyl Attkisson when she had the "effrontery" to ask questions about Operation Fast and Furious.

UC Riverside Highlander Editorial
I tend to use caution when criticizing university campus newspaper articles because, after all, these are young students writing them, and sometimes it just isn't fair for older and more experienced folks like myself to pick them apart.
The below article by the University of California at Riverside Highlander has no individual names attached, and after reading it, I felt compelled to send in my own comment in the reader thread.

"You should not be lost for words. What happened in Paris were two atrocities carried out because someone was offended by cartoons and because someone hated Jews. (which you did not even mention). There is a worldwide movement to impose Islamic beliefs on everyone else, and it begins with criminalizing any speech critical of Islam. failing that, too many Muslims feel violence including murder is justified. Sorry, but in a free and democratic society, belief systems are going to be subject to examination, criticism, and sometimes ridicule. When a certain belief system engages in wholesale slaughter and persecution of religious minorities, there will be criticism, discussion, and even satire.
Do innocent Muslims suffer when their belief system is questioned? Yes, they do, but that is not sufficient reason to cut off and criminalize discussion of the horrors going on in the world especially when they are brought to bear on those of us in the West.

It is simple: When the intolerance, persecution, and violence ceases, the criticism will cease."

How in the world could they not ask what it felt like to be a Jew in France given the barrage of anti-Semitic insults, attacks, and violence that is driving thousands of them to leave the country-not to mention Jews in other European countries who are in a similar situation? And it is not the Europeans themselves who are committing these acts; it is the young male Muslim immigrants, while Europeans turn a blind eye so as not to offend the Muslims.
In fact, even though this editorial is dated January 20, it seems the attack on the Jewish store was not even counted since they only counted the 12 dead from the Charlie Hebdo attack.
As a Gentile, I wonder how a Jewish student at UC Riverside would feel reading the above editorial.
Al Jazeera English: "Nothing Less Than a Propaganda Machine For Those Who Hate America"
It is time we face facts when it comes to Qatar's Al Jazeera. Behind the mask of a professional news network, Al Jazeera is a propaganda machine. When you eliminate terms like "terrorist" or "Islamist" from your lexicon, there is not much left of the truth.

This is the outfit to whom that blowhard Al Gore sold his interest in Current TV. (Thanks, Al.) And don't think that all of AJ's commentators, reporters, writers, and columnists are citizens of that duplicitous Gulf state that pretends to fight terror on one hand and funds it with the other. AJ has a fair share of Westerners on their payroll helping to spread the propaganda to Western audiences. They should all hang their heads in shame.
What Can Save Europe?
This article first appeared in Eagle Rising
It is too soon to proclaim the Paris attacks as the event that reversed the course of Europe's downward plunge into Islamic darkness, but we can hope. It does seem that the Europeans, after decades of liberal blindness and sticking their heads in the sand, have awoken. They are fed up with the results of unbridled Islamic immigration that is tearing the fabric of their society apart. They are tired of the unassimilated masses, the no-go zones of their own cities, the riots, the crime, the rejection of their own traditions and culture, to say nothing of the terror. They are finally waking up to the inexcusable anti-Semitism that the immigrants have brought, the rekindling of the 1930s, if you will.
They are saying, "Enough is enough."
The trouble is that their own political leaders including the technocrats of the EU in Brussels are not listening. German Chancellor Angela Merkel has branded PEGIDA as some sort of racist organization, and she took to the airwaves to warn her citizens not to join PEGIDA's marches. France's Francois Hollande, who can shine one day and the next say something stupid ("This has nothing to do with Islam.") is anything but consistent when his country needs firm leadership. David Cameron, who is supposed to be a conservative, is a linguin in the UK's own pot of boiling water.
And of course, the last place Europe can look for inspiration and leadership is the United States of America led by Barack Obama and John Kerry.
But here is where hope might be on the way. The so-called "right-wing" parties and political leaders are in ascendancy in Europe. In France, it is Marine Le Pen and the Front National. In the Netherlands, it is Geert Wilders, probably the most courageous man in Europe, and his Party for Freedom. In the UK it is UKIP led by Nigel Farage, who is currently the "skunk at the garden party" in the European Parliament. In Sweden, it is Jimmie Ã…kesson and the Sweden Democrats. It is time that the people exercise their votes to put these leaders in office. If they don't, who knows what kind of parties and other leaders may come to the fore ten years from now. I believe that the above leaders and parties will act to stop the Islamic wave pouring across their borders and throw out the bad actors while protecting the rights of decent and law abiding Muslims and other immigrants. If the situation is allowed to fester and continue, the solution down the road can only be more drastic and less respectful of the rights of the innocent.
Let's hope that Paris really represents a sea change in saving Europe.
