Susquehanna College Ditches "Offensive" Nickname (Crusaders)

Chalk up another college that has decided to change its nickname because somebody out there is offended. In this case, its Susquehanna College in Pennsylvania. Apparently, somebody has complained that their nickname (Crusaders) is offensive, exclusionary, triggering, micro-aggressive, or something.

Full disclosure: When I was a kid, my favorite cartoon program on TV was Crusader Rabbit. I have worn that badge of shame ever since. Little did I know at the time that the term, "Crusader" was offensive to Muslims because of some war that happened hundreds of years ago as brave jihadis fought heroically to maintain their conquests against the dark forces of the Cross.

But that is no excuse.

How could it be in this modern era of John Kerry, Barack Obama, dhimmitude and pandering, that an obscene term like Cru  No, I cannot say it. Let's just call it the C-word, could still linger in our lexicon? I applaud Susquehanna and its courageous president for assigning the C-word to the dustbin of academic history.

Of course, Susquehanna is not the first college to change its nickname from the C-word. How about Maranatha Baptist College in Wisconsin, which caved to the demands of 9-11 last year, a move much applauded by CAIR.

"Death to Jews" Pro-Palestinian Demonstration in Malmo

On October 18, there was a disgusting anti-Israel demonstration in Malmo, Sweden-that country's third largest city and capital of anti-Jewish hate thanks to its large Muslim immigrant population.

In this protest, two members of the Swedish parliament actually spoke. There were also chants of ,"Death to Jews" and "Fedayeen-Continue the knife attacks". The below article from Jihad I Malmo is in Swedish and Danish. I am giving a summary translation.

The protest was organized by the Palestinian Cultural Association and several other southern Sweden Arab groups. The two parliament members speaking were Daniel Sestrajcic and Hillevi Larsson, both notorious anti-Israel activists.

I find it pretty hard to sympathize with Sweden. They have created the very monster they wanted-a multi-cultural society, in which they invited the wrong cultures in. No have they bo-go zones full of angry and restive immigrants, mostly Muslims, who are contributing nothing to society but crime and welfare costs.

And guess what: Tens of thousands more are on the way. Right now they are making their way from Eastern and Southern Europe with their principle destinations being Germany and Sweden. That's because those governments have their arms open wide with the most social benefits.

Meanwhile, Sweden's Jews, like French Jews- are leaving in droves.

So congratulations, Sweden. You wanted a multi-kulti society. You got it.

Oh, I almost forgot. In the past 24 hours, there was a school shooting in Gothenburg. It happened in an area heavily populated by immigrants, I understand. One 26-year-old man is dead and police are scouring the area looking for a man on a moped.

No further description, of course.

The CNBC Debate: The Media Protects Its Own

Full disclosure: I did not watch the Republican debate this week on CNBC in its entirety. I was watching the World Series and switched over during commercials. However, from what I did see and have seen since, I am appalled at the conduct of the moderators. They were not trying to run a debate on the issues; they were trying to rip each candidate. They even got into arguments with them over their responses. It was unprofessional and showed the nation the unquestioned bias of the mainstream media.

Yet, CNN and MSNBC predictably, came to the defense of the moderators and attacked the candidates for fighting back. Ditto the Washington Post, whose columnist, Philip Bump, wrote this attack on the GOP.

Arizona State University Bringing Back "Problem of Whiteness" Class

After several weeks of dithering, Joe Biden has decided that he had dithered too long to jump into the presidential race. Thus, he will not challenge Her Nibs, Hillary Clinton, for the Democratic nomination.

So what was it that led Biden to decide (an oxymoron, of sorts) not to get in?

Could it have been that "debate victory" for Hillary against four schmoes including her closest competitor, Bernie Sanders, who gave away his best weapon with his now-famous "damn emails" quote?

Could it have been what the press is calling Hillary's victorious performance at the Benghazi hearings, ignoring the revelations of the 600 requests for more security in Libya that never reached her attention and the three communications she had in the 24 hours following the attacks in which she declared it was  a terrorist attack that had nothing to do with a video?

Or could it have been Joe's recent statement that he had urged President Obama to go ahead with the raid that killed Usama bin Laden, which contradicted his earlier claim to have advised the president against it?

Given the contradictory statements Biden is prone to make, we may never know the answer.

Speaking of contradictory answers, just after he announced his "decision" not to run, Biden gave an interview to 60 Minutes, in which he contradicted the story put out by Maureen Dowd that his late son Beau had urged him to run just before he (Beau) died. Now Biden says that story is not true. So is Dowd a liar (which wouldn't surprise me)? Or given his decision not to run, is it better for his image to debunk the story? Either way, if the story is not true, why did he let it linger out there for so long? Why only now is he refuting it?

Biden has not done his legacy any good.

Stabbings in Sweden and Israel: Is There a Double Standard?

During the past month, Israel has experienced a rash of stabbings against its citizens by Palestinians, most of whom were shot dead by cops or soldiers. What has ensued from that is a wave of international indignation against Israel for the Palestinians who were killed. At best, Western politicians, diplomats, and media have treated the issue with a moral equivalency calling for calm on both sides. University campuses across the US have seen the Palestine lobby hold protests in support of the intifada (It is not yet officially declared an intifada) decrying the killings of the Palestinians.

Let's switch to Sweden. Last week, a man entered a school and attacked four people with a sword, killing two before the police arrived and shot him dead. It appears the man was acting out of racist motives, but no matter. I am not mourning his death, and I don't know who is, either in Sweden, the US or anywhere else.

But do you see the double standard here? What the man in Sweden did was despicable and evil. He deserved to die. Similarly, what these Palestinians did, whether by attacking innocent Jews with knives or ramming them with cars, was evil as well. They deserved to be killed just as much as the guy in Sweden.

MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry Coming to UC Irvine

Melissa Harris-Perry is one of MSNBC's lineup of uber-liberal talking heads whose main topic day after day is bashing Republicans. There is very little to no debate at MSNBC. Pravda has more balance than MSNBC. So now, UC Irvine is announcing that Harris-Perry will be appearing at our campus on November 9 to talk about why Black Lives Matter is important in politics.

Full disclosure. Melissa is a pretty lady in my book, but behind that charming smile, what comes out of her mouth is not so pretty.



Aside from her predictable rants against Republicans (which is a prerequisite for employment at MSNBC), Harris-Perry is also heavy into racial politics. Just this week, she made headlines for chastising a Republican guest for describing Paul  Ryan as a "hard worker". Apparently, that was a trigger or micro-aggression, as they say in academia, for Harris-Perry. According to her, hard work is working in the cotton fields-with its obvious racial connotation. Never mind that she has used the expression, "hard work" many times herself.

I am guessing that Harris-Perry will come to Irvine and do her best to divide her student audience by race. After all, that is de rigueur on college campuses today. She is certainly not going to criticize the Black Lives Matter movement, no matter how much violence against cops they have inspired, no matter how many lies they propagate. Case in point? On October 18, Harris-Perry hosted an unapologetic Monica Dennis, a BLM leader, on her TV show. After playing the infamous Minnesota State Fair BLM march where they chanted, "Pigs in a  blanket. Fry em like bacon", Harris-Perry switched to denouncing the GOP's "rabid rhetoric" as being worse. Her "example" of that was a very fair and factual statement by Ted Cruz.

And no, Melissa: It was not just one incident-a few seconds caught on videotape. She must have forgotten  the December 14, 2014 New York City march in which people were chanting, "What do we want? Dead cops. When do we want it? Now".

So will I go and listen to what she has to say? I am leaning against it. After all, I finish my day at UCI at 4 and she comes on at 7. What will I do for three hours? Besides, if I am correct, the q and a will be so structured that a select few sympathetic students will be chosen to lob up softball questions to the speaker. That is usually the case when a "VIP" comes to speak. I am reminded of when Obama religious adviser Eboo Patel came to speak at UC Irvine.

So I am guessing that hardball (no pun intended) questions will probably not be allowed. So what's the point? I do agree that priority should be given to students in these venues, but not to the total exclusion of someone else who might have a harder question.

Zero Hour Returns to Germany

Guess What! Another Israel Bashing Event Coming to UCLA

As I reported yesterday, I attended the UC Regents working group at UCLA devoted to figuring out a statement of principles on intolerance anti-Semitism. One of the most comical public speakers was UCLA professor Susan Slyomovics, who is interim director of the Center for Near Eastern Studies, an entity that is essentially devoted to tearing down Israel. While Slyomovics was bemoaning the awful treatment meted out to her center, as well as Arab and Muslims, she made a shameless plug for an event they are hosting at UCLA on November 6. You'll never guess what the topic is.

As always, this will be an all-star cast mostly made up of various University of California professors whose life's mission is to attack Israel. It's the usual Middle East/gender studies crowd. I have heard a couple of them speak, specifically Goldberg at UCI in 2009 and Lloyd at UC Riverside in January 2014 when he hosted the odious BDS activist Omar Barghouti. At that time, I asked the sponsors when they might expose their student audience to an alternative point of view, a question Lloyd dismissed as "preposterous".

Preposterous is indoctrinating your students, Dr Lloyd, at the expense of giving students all sides of an issue.

And Sondra Hale? I thought she was retired. Oh well. These people never retire, do they? They just fade away.

One would think that at some point, students would get tired of hearing this same tired old song and dance. One would think that they would eventually figure it out that these people are not even worth listening to, that they are merely indoctrinating instead of educating. Oh yeah. After four years, they graduate and every year, new students arrive to be indoctrinated. It's a boom industry.

And the University of California can't understand why it has a problem with anti-Semitism on its campuses.

Follow up to Galia Golan Appearance at UC Irvine

On October 9, I attended a speaking appearance by Galia Golan at UC Irvine. Golan is an Israeli peace activist who is sharply critical of Israel's action and policies vis-a-vis the Palestinians. Her talk was sponsored by the Dept. of Social Sciences, and the audience was overwhelmingly comprised of students from a particular class.

Subsequently, I reached out to the Social Sciences department (I am omitting the name of the individual) and inquired as to what opposing views, if any, had been presented to the student audience to counter balance Ms Golan. I was informed that several years previous, Joseph Olmert, the brother of former Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert, had spoken on behalf of Israel. That was it.

Therefore, I sent the person a few names as possible speakers who might be invited to provide an alternative viewpoint. Those names consisted of Israeli academic, Mordechai Kedar, who will making a US speaking tour in January and February of 2016 and any of the people associated with ASMEA-the Association for the Study of the Middle East and Africa, founded by Bernard Lewis.

To date, I have received no response.

Another Jew Attacked in France: Rabbi Stabbed in Marseilles

Yet another Muslim attack against Jews in France. A rabbi stabbed outside of his synagogue on a Saturday in Marseilles while onlookers do nothing. In addition, the French press (at least Le Figaro) neglects to mention that the assailant, who was merely described as a man in his 30s and drunk, was saying, "Allahu Akhbar".

No big deal, right, Le Figaro?

UC Regents Working Group on Intolerance at UCLA

Today, the University of California Regents held a working group to hear public testimony on the issue of intolerance on UC campuses. The event was held at UCLA. In reality, the issue of the day was anti-Semitism. It is the documented complaints of anti-Semitism over the years that have culminated in these hearings. I attended the morning session and spoke. Each speaker was allotted 3 and a half minutes. Ninety-seven people were signed up to speak, but many did not show-at least in the morning session though they were scheduled. I was not present for the afternoon session. All in all, the speakers represented a cross-section of interests. There were representatives from Jewish Voice for Peace and LA Jews for Peace (both pro-Palestinian organizations). James Lafferty of the (pinko) National Lawyers Guild and an activist opponent of Israel, was on the list but was not present for the morning session. Some Jewish students also came to speak. The pro-Palestinian speakers claimed that adopting the State Department definition of anti-Semitism would result in a denial of free speech, which was refuted by many of the speakers who complained about campus anti-Semitism. Also speaking out against the problem of anti-Semitism on campus were representatives of the the AMCHA Initiative, the Simon Wiesenthal Center, LA Jewish Federation, the Zionist Organization of America,  and UCLA Hillel.

Those regents participating were Linda Katehi (Chancellor of UC Davis), John Perez, Bruce Varner, Norm Pattiz, Student Regent Avi Oved, Dan Hare and Vice Provost Yvette Gullatt. In the middle of it all, while one person was speaking, Perez, a former Democratic state political bigwig (and I mean BIG) got up went out of the room and came back with a full plate of food, which he proceeded to devour.

Aside from Perez, There was one other moment of dark humor when UCLA Professor and interim head of the highly political Center for Near Eastern Studies at UCLA got up to speak. Her name is Susan Slyomovics. She started off by complaining about the what she maintained was disproportionate amount of power and influence wielded on campus by the Jewish, pro-Israel lobby at the expense of her poor center, Muslims and Arabs.

(I am paraphrasing. I think she stated she was Jewish.) To make matters worse, she went way over her allotted time as the moderator repeatedly tried to get her to cease.

Below are the points that I addressed. I began with a litany of anti-Semitic incidents and speech on University of California  campuses, with which I was familiar.

A 2001, Mohammed al Asi, an imam from Washington DC, said at a campus gathering 
against Israel: "There is a psychosis in the Jewish community that precludes it 
from living in peace and harmony with other human beings. You can take the Jew 
out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the Jew." 
 
B 2008. During Israel Apartheid week, I saw and photographed on the mock 
apartheid wall, a caricature of Ariel Sharon, drawn in the stereotypical image 
reminiscent of the Nazi anti-Semitic weekly, "Der Stuemer." 
 
C Amir Abdel Malik Ali, who speaks regularly on UC campuses, regularly refers to 
individuals as "Zionist Jews", spitting out the words as the Nazis used to spit 
out the word, Jew. In 2010, in my presence, he told Jewish members of the 
audience that they were the new Nazis." Finally after years of pleading, the the 
then chancellor (Michael Drake) issued a statement to the campus community 
condemning what was was said. However, he failed to identify the speaker, what 
was specifically said, what the event was, who the sponsoring organization was 
(Muslim Student Union) or the offended group. 
 
Other than UCI: 
 
D-  At UC Berkeley in 2010, Jewish students held a peaceful protest when 
swastikas began appearing on campus. They were heckled and given the finger by a 
UCB professor. (  I did not mention the professor's name.) 
 
 
E  At UCLA in the past year or so, a Jewish female student was questioned about  her Jewish 
background when she was trying to gain a seat on the student govt. People on the 
student govt questioned whether she could be objective on certain issues. 
 
F UC Davis  In the past year, swastikas appeared on a UC Davis Jewish frat house 
(following a BDS vote) and just a week or so ago, cars were defaced with 
swastikas and anti-Jewish slurs at UC Davis.

 I also told the regents that we are witnessing a worldwide resurgence in 
anti-Semitism. In Europe, Jews cannot walk the streets in Jewish garb lest they 
be insulted, assaulted, spat upon, or even murdered. 
 
In the US, the focal point for this resurgence is on our university campuses. 
Today, groups like Students for Justice in Palestine are supporting the 
beginnings of a new intifada in Israel. 
 
I concluded by urging the regents to include specific references to 
anti-Semitism in their statement of principles- that it represents the worst 
"ism" today on UC and US college campuses.

Anyway, that's the update. This process is expected to take several months as they try to come up 

with a statement of principles on intolerance that could have been drafter in a day.
 

Will Angela Merkel Complete What Hitler Started?

In 1933 Adolf Hitler came to power in Germany. Twelve short years later, the country lay in ruins. It's cities were destroyed by Allied bombing, their armies defeated, and the country occupied and eventually divided in two. What had been a beautiful, idyllic land was decimated by the actions of a genocidal madman.

Yet, the country was reborn and rebuilt. True, the eastern part was under Soviet control until the Berlin Wall came down, but the Germans managed to rebuild their country into a decent and thriving democracy. When Angela Merkel became chancellor, she appeared to be a responsible and respected leader even though she came out of the old DDR (East Germany).

But now, Merkel has lost the support of her countrymen as she has embarked on an insane policy of admitting literally hundreds of thousands of so-called refugees and migrants from Syria, Iraq, North Africa and who knows where else. What's more, she is taking the lead in pressuring other EU nations to admit more themselves. It matters not that a disturbing majority of these people appear to be able-bodied young men or that ISIS has already declared their intent to infiltrate their terrorists into the hordes of migrants. Merkel wants as many as possible. Already, the cities and towns are imploding under the influx. There is insufficient housing, and locales are pressuring their citizens to bring migrants into their homes. Pam Geller at Atlas Shrugs has posted a German news report that tells of sick and elderly Germans being evicted from their apartments in order to make room for these migrants-who complain that their lodgings are still inadequate. (I am reaching out to my German friends to check on this.) Civil disorder is rising and will ultimately explode. Rapes are on the rise. The migrants are demanding admittance into Germany and Sweden in preference to other countries because of the increased welfare benefits. It seems only the former East bloc countries and former Yugolav republics have enough common sense to try and resist the wave of invaders.

Why is Merkel pursuing this policy that threatens to take Germany back to the post-WW I period when civil war rages in the cities? Is it because the German birth rate cannot sustain itself and the generous welfare state? Is the remedy really bringing in people who refuse to assimilate, who have no respect for European customs, who will bring crime and increased welfare costs and generally contribute nothing to society?

What about the Jews still living in Germany? Why should they remain in the face of what is sure to come-assaults and murder as already seen in France, Belgium, Scandinavia, and other parts of Europe?

It seems that Europe is determined to commit suicide and surrender to a wave of Islamic immigration that will engulf and ultimately conquer the continent. And Angela Merkel is leading the way.

Somehow, Ger,many managed to survive Adolf Hitler. Will they survive Angela Merkel?

The Hypocrisy of Students for Justice in Palestine

Cravatts is correct. The SJP cries foul when opposing voices are heard on campus. Yet they routinely engage in bully-boy tactics to push their toxic agenda. As quoted in the Campus Reform article, Guillaume failed to list ideological bias. Right, Guillaume?

"The video did not alert me to that."

Women's Empowerment Initiative at UC Irvine

UC Irvine Vice Chancellor Thomas Parham has sent this missive out to the UC Irvine community this week. It concerns something called the Women's Empowerment Initiative. After reading it, I am not sure what it is all about. Maybe the reader will have better luck than me.

Dear UCI Faculty: 

We are pleased to announce this third annual special Call for Proposals as a collaboration between the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) and the UCI Women's Empowerment Initiative, emphasizing the importance of the discovery process to advance our knowledge and efforts to empower women, and provide mentorship and leadership opportunities through collaborative projects.

The UCI Women's Empowerment Initiative has a primary goal of serving and empowering the next generation of women leaders in a global society through educational programming, leadership opportunities, research and scholarship.

UCI undergraduates from all disciplines who are conducting research projects or creative activities under the guidance of UCI faculty are encouraged to apply. Topics of inquiry and investigation may include, but are not limited to: mentorship and leadership development; navigation of multiple roles; disparities in healthcare-women's health across the lifespan; gender and socialization of women; self-efficacy and self-esteem-psychological health of women; women and athletics; violence against women; queer/feminist theory; gender, culture and social change; sociology of law; women and sexuality; women's contribution to the economic marketplace; and women's career development. 

The research proposal should include background and objective of the research project, project design and feasibility, student's specific responsibility, project's timeline, and a detailed budget with justification. In addition, faculty mentors will be asked to upload one letter of recommendation per project, which would evaluate the student's performance to date and capacity to complete the proposed activities. If the research involves human subjects, the appropriate IRB protocol number is required. Please refer to http://www.research.uci.edu/ora/ for guidelines and appropriate forms.

Similar to UROP's regular Fall Call for Proposals, complete proposals must be submitted online at the UROP Web site (http://www.urop.uci.edu/grants.html), by Monday, November 2, 2015. 

The project title should start with "Special Call:" and the proposal should elaborate on relevance of the proposed project to the theme of this special Call for Proposals. Proposals will be reviewed by the UROP Faculty Advisory Board. Standards for evaluation of funding requests include:

-Intellectual merit in the student's proposed research activity
-Thoroughness and completeness of the proposal packet
-Level of commitment and support from the faculty
-Assessment of student's UCI transcript 
-Available Funds

This special call will fund a varied set of projects, with requests up to $1,000 for individual projects, and up to $2,500 for group projects that involve multiple students. Funds can be used to support such expenditures as the purchase of materials and supplies, research-related travel, and the costs incurred in the presentation of research or creative activities. These funds cannot support major hardware purchases, salaries or stipends, or travel expenditures only. Proposals requiring no funding, or receiving adequate funding from departmental or other sources, may be submitted for an Honorary Fellowship. Supported projects will be highlighted at the UCI Undergraduate Research Symposium, and recognized at a UCI Women's Empowerment Initiative reception, both scheduled for Saturday, May 14, 2016.

Call me sexist, but it seems to me to be a waste of the tax-payers' money as more research is devoted into making victims out of women.

Maybe I should respond to their CALL. I could suggest bringing in Rhonda Rousey as a guest lecturer. Now that's what I call an example of women's empowerment.

News Media Twisting the Clinton Hearing

Last night, I watched as both MSNBC and CNN spun the reporting on Hillary Clinton's testimony on Benghazi in a way favorable to Clinton. CNN's Dana Bash cheerfully reported that it was excruciatingly long but there was nothing new to report. The same was the verdict from CNN's graveyard shift (the one featuring the British anchors).  There was no mention (at least that I heard) of those three communications from Mrs Clinton within 24 hours that it was a terrorist attack.

MSNBC predictably was in full attack- the- Republicans mode as they trotted out one talking head after another to defend Clinton. They even brought out Thomas Pickering, the retired diplomat who led the ARB investigation into Benghazi, an "inquiry" that somehow neglected to interview Mrs Clinton, let alone ask for her communications.

Today's Orange County Register is running two articles in their print and online editions about the hearing, none of which mentions the above Clinton communications of September 11-12, 2012 that rebut the video claim. Nor do they mention the fact that the Libyan mission had sent 600 requests to the State Department asking for more security in the months leading up to the deadly attack of September 11.Below is what is running online.

This is what we are up against. Aside from Fox News and conservative talk radio, the smoking gun that came of of yesterday's hearing is not even being reported. It's like the proverbial tree that falls in the forest. Nobody hears it.

Oh well. Maybe Jimmy Kimmel will mention it in one of his monologues.

Smoking Guns: Hillary Lied About the Benghazi Attack and Video

The mainstream media and liberal pundits are crowing about how the Republicans couldn't lay a glove on Hillary Clinton and how masterful she was during her testimony today. Well, maybe she didn't break down in tears, and maybe there was no Perry Mason moment when she broke down and confessed.  Maybe she kept her composure. But there was a smoking gun.

When the bodies of the four murdered Americans were returned to Andrews Air Force Base on September 14 and met by President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton, the latter told surviving family members that they were going to arrest and prosecute the man who made that video.

The same date, Sept 14, then White House press spokesman Jay Carney said, "We have no information to suggest it was a pre-planned attack."

Four days after the attack, Susan Rice went on those talk shows and insisted it was not a planned attack, rather a protest over the infamous video.

Yet, newly-discovered Clinton communications have provided the smoking gun behind the lies. That evening (September 12,) Hillary e-mailed her daughter that the Benghazi mission was under attack by al Qaeda-affiliated terrorists. The same evening, she told the president of Libya by phone that the terror group Ansar al Sharia was claiming credit. The next day, she told the prime minister of Egypt by phone that they "knew" that the attack was pre-planned and not a protest over a video.

That, Ladies and Gentlemen is a smoking gun. Hillary Clinton lied to the American people. Susan Rice lied to the American people. Jay Carney lied to the American people.

Hillary Clinton lied to the American people-including personally and directly the families of the victims.

At the finale of the Watergate investigation, a tape recording that Richard Nixon had fought to keep secret revealed that he was sitting in the Oval Office telling his aides to have the CIA go to the FBI and call them off the investigation on the grounds that it was  a national security matter. That was the smoking gun that proved that Nixon was involved at the very least in the cover up. That led directly to his resignation.

There is still more to this story. Why lie? The obvious motive was that a terrorist attack at Benghazi went against the Obama/Clinton narrative that the American involvement in the overthrow of Moammar Qaddafi was a success story and that Libya was stabilized.  Not to mention that a presidential  election was looming. Not to mention the 600 requests for more security that had come from the Libyan mission-which were refused. Hillary knew those were going to come to light. Why do you think there was so much stonewalling from Clinton and the State Department to turn over the documents? Why did it take so long for it to be revealed that Clinton used a private email server to conduct diplomacy for four years leaving no paper trail in the DOS archives-as required by policy and law?

Hillary Clinton stands exposed as a liar. Does anybody care?

The NY Police Murder: I Answered My Own Question

Yesterday, I posted an article on the latest murder of a New York City police officer, Randolph Holder. I asked the rhetorical question of how the Black Lives Matter crowd would react.

Marine Le Pen on Trial in France

French politician Marine Le Pen of the Front National is on trial in Lyon, France charged with hate speech for a speech she made there criticizing Muslim street prayers.

Oh, I forgot to mention that there is no First Amendment in Europe.

As I have said many times before, if the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has its way, such laws would be extended to every nation. President Obama would love to oblige them.

He just can't figure out how to get around that sticky First Amendment.

Hillary Testifying

Just catching up on Hillary Clinton's testimony before the Benghazi select committee today. They are currently on the mid-day break. Two things of note: Mike Pompeo (R-KS) was questioning her on the hundreds of requests for more security coming from Ambassador Stevens and the Libyan mission. She maintains that those requests never reached her desk and were handled by career professionals (Patrick Kennedy and Charlene Lamb). In addition, Jim Jordan (R-OH) questioned her about newly discovered emails that she sent to her family on the night of the Benghazi attack and to the Egyptian prime minister the next day saying that the mission was attacked by terrorists. In her message to the Egyptian prime minister, Clinton refuted any claims that the attack was related to a video mocking the Prophet Mohammad.

Yet, the video story was pushed by Clinton, Susan Rice and the Obama administration for several days to the public and the victims' families.

* Update: Trey Gowdy (R-SC) just pointed out to Hillary that Huma Abedin had sent her an email in which she said the Libyan people needed medicine, gasoline, diesel and milk. Clinton responded to that within 4 minutes. Why could Ambassador Stevens not get a response for security?

"He did not ask for security from me. He corresponded with the professionals."

Gowdy is pointing out that certain people (like Sid Blumenthal) got direct access to her but not Stevens.

Clinton has also testified that Stevens did not have her personal email address.

The Democrats are simply running interference for Clinton and criticizing the Republicans' line of questioning. They and Hillary are stressing the line that Stevens knew Libya and Benghazi were dangerous and that he was a strong advocate for maintaining US presence in Libya.

So what? The point is that he was asking for increased security, which he never got. One thing that has come out is that they were having to buy barricades from a British consulate "fire sale" because the Brits were pulling out.

The Dems are accusing the Republicans of trying to prosecute Clinton. Yet they are making no mention of the FBI investigation into the emails. Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA) is making a speech rather than asking questions (12:05 PST) as Hillary smiles. Not one question.

Then Elijah Cummings (D-MD) used his time to give Clinton a chance to recount the heroic actions of the Americans who died in Benghazi. This was clearly planned.

When Democrats are speaking she is all warm and smiley. When Republicans are asking questions, she is sullen, arrogant and dismissive.

Another NY Cop Murdered

Randolph Holder became the 4th New York City police officer murdered in the last 11 months last night. The suspect, Tyrone Howard is a career criminal with numerous arrests in his record. Nonetheless, Judge Edward McLaughlin sent him to a drug diversion program instead of prison.

One really has to pity the NYPD having to work in such an atmosphere under mayor Bill de Blasio. You have Al Sharpton leading crowds in protesting the cops, you have marchers chanting for death to cops, and you have the Obama administration, which is eager to go after cops any chance they get as they send representatives to funerals of thugs killed by cops. Now we have another dead officer, apparently at the hands of a man who never should have been out on the street. 

I note that Officer Holder was black, and I do so for only one reason. I wonder if the Black Lives Matter crowd has any comment, any vigil, any message of sympathy.

I doubt it.
