The Ordeal of Michael Flynn Is Prolonged by the Judge

Yesterday, US District  Court Judge Emmet Sullivan, instead of dismissing the case against Michael Flynn after the Justice Department dropped prosecution, decided to prolong Flynn's ordeal-not to mention legal expenses- by calling for Amicus (Friend of the Court) briefs to be filed. So now the door is open for liberal groups like the ACLU and others to weigh in and demand that the prosecution and/or sentencing of Flynn go forth.

It should have been obvious by now-even to a Bill Clinton appointed judge- that Flynn has been the target of an unethical campaign by the FBI, the Obama Justice Department, and others. It was a prosecution that never should have been brought, and which involved unethical practices by high-ranking FBI officials, James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok and others. Flynn was pressured into pleading guilty twice by FBI threats to prosecute his son. The current Justice Department, in an effort to set things right, dropped the prosecution.

Judge Sullivan's action begs the question: How do you go forward with a case when the prosecutor has dropped out? How do you accept and enforce a guilty plea as being voluntary and relevant to the alleged offense in the face of all this malfeasance by the FBI? Remember this is the judge who initially asked the prosecutor why they were not charging Flynn with treason-a capital offense.

I can only conclude that Judge Sullivan knows he can't get away with this. He is committing reversible error. The new Justice Department is out of the case. Who takes their place in the courtroom, the ACLU, maybe the UN? I suspect the judge is merely trying to prolong the political discussion as it pertains to President Trump. Keep the circus going. Perhaps, he is trying to goad Trump into issuing a pardon, which may-or may not- hurt him politically in November.

But if that is what it comes down to, I feel the President should put an end to General Flynn's ordeal. The real people who should be standing in the dock are the FBI agents who concocted this scheme against Flynn in the first place. If Judge Sullivan refuses to dismiss this case-with prejudice, then he becomes an accessory to the wrongdoing on the part of the FBI supervisors who orchestrated this injustice in the first place.
