Hillary Clinton's Latest: Formal Deprogramming of Trump Supporters

"HILLARY: “I mean, we had very strong partisans in both parties in the past and we had very bitter battles over all kinds of things: gun control, and climate change, and the economy, and taxes. But there wasn’t this little tail of extremism wagging the dog of the Republican Party as it is today. And sadly, so many of those extremists, those MAGA extremists, take their marching orders from Donald Trump, who has no credibility left by any measure. He’s only in it for himself. He’s now defending himself in civil actions and criminal actions. And when do they break with him? You know, because at some point, you know, maybe there needs to be a formal deprogramming of the cult members. But something needs to happen.”

Hillary Clinton is baaaack, and not surprisingly, what she has to say is totally off the rails. In an interview with CNN's Christiane Amanpour, Clinton actually stated in all seriousness that Trump supporters need to be deprogrammed-formally reprogrammed.

Even the highly partisan Amanpour was taken aback by that comment.

First of all, as I have pointed out many times in the past, including in the reader thread of Legal Insurrection, Hillary Clinton reminds me of Gloria Swanson's portrayal of faded actress Norma Desmond in the old movie classic, "Sunset Boulevard". She is not only a power-hungry woman still determined to become president someday, but she is also disturbed. I suspect that her reported meltdown on election night 2016 probably pushed her over the edge, but this latest comment should give pause to whatever supporters she may have left. No, I am not suggesting they should be reprogrammed.

Gloria Swanson as Norma Desmond

This woman has no business criticizing anybody though I concede it is her constitutional right to make herself look silly. Deprogramming people because of their political choices is something that reminds us of the communist re-education camps of China, Vietnam, and North Korea. It has no place in America.

I suspect in the coming days, as this interview goes viral, she will come out with a statement that she was being sarcastic, but keep in mind, she said," ........maybe there needs to be a formal deprogramming.......". That suggests to me she is deadly serious.

And for her to say that Trump is "only in it for himself", which may or may not be true, is highly hypocritical. Her whole life story suggests someone who is in it only for herself. I strongly suspect that Clinton is sitting there ready to pounce into the 2024 presidential race should President Biden drop out of the race or, Heaven forbid, drop dead. The good news is that (in my opinion) there are very few Democrats, especially among the young, who are ready for Hillary Clinton. Maybe they have de-programmed themselves just by watching her in action over the years. In my view, just watching her for five minutes is enough to deprogram anybody.

* If you are too young to remember the movie, "Sunset Boulevard", I recommend you watch it. Then tell me Norma Desmond doesn't remind you of Hillary Clinton.
