How a Migrant Ship nearly rammed an Italian police boat at Lampedusa
A few days ago, a German NGO ship flying a Dutch flag attempted to land 42 migrants it had picked up in the Mediterranean at the Italian port of Lampedusa. The ship was ordered not to enter the harbor. After about three days, the German ship captain, an activist named Carola Rackete, proceeded against orders into the harbor and pulled up to dock right where a Guardia di Finanza patrol boat was parked-forcing the GdF to hurriedly move their boat to avoid being rammed by the much larger NGO ship. All this as the arrogant Ms. Rackete stood on the bridge with her arms crossed. She was promptly arrested. The below video (without sub-titles) shows exactly how it happened.

Yet, in spite of the facts, an Italian judge ordered the release of the boat captain, and it is believed she will be promptly returned to Germany. Italian interior minister Matteo Salvini has expressed his outrage, both at the captain's actions, which placed the lives of 5 GdF officers in peril, and the judge's decision.
