This month attacks against Jews in France-most significantly in the Paris area have multiplied. Jewish leaders are speaking out.

Here is the main problem: While France has Europe's largest Jewish population (many are leaving, however), It has Europe's largest Muslim population, thanks largely to its former colonies in North Africa. With the Israel-Palestinian conflict always an issue, most of the attacks against Jews are coming from Muslim quarters. That's pretty much the same everywhere nowadays in that people are turning a blind eye to Islamic anti-semitism. They are simply afraid to confront it.  Better to blame it on neo-Nazis or far right groups..

This is Western Europe's great shame especially having seen and lived through the Holocaust. The lesson was learned, but now it is on the road to being repeated simply with a new cast of villains. It is a historical fact that the French under German occupation participated in the round up and deportation of French Jews to the death camps. How can they tolerate their Jewish citizens being put at risk again? It is not enough for the police to respond to each attack and try to bring the perpetrators to justice. There is a much deeper problem facing all of Europe; they have a growing minority population who hold an age-old hatred against Jews. To be sure, not all Muslims feel that hatred or act out on it.However, the numbers of young, restive males who do is unacceptable.
