"One person's hate speech is another person's education."
"Shaoulian continued, “He says to us, ‘Look at their crowd, at their numbers, and their diversity. They are not all Muslim students. The protesters are black students, Hispanic students, Asian students — what does that tell you, Sharon?"
Sharon Shaoulian until last year was the president of Anteaters for Israel (now Students Supporting Israel). I have had the pleasure of making her acquaintance and seeing her stand up to the bullies of the Students for Justice in Palestine and Muslim Student Union on multiple occasions (not to mention the then-CEO of the Jewish Federation). In the below article from Algemeiner, she adds her own perspective to the overall problem facing Jewish students at UCI who are victimized by anti-Semitism. Indifference.

I'll tell you what it tells me: It tells me that number one, the MSU/SJP have cynically and successfully sold their mantra of "Palestinian suffering" to other ethnicity-based student groups as having a connection to their own grievances. It also tells me that this is part of that agenda of "students of color" against "privileged whites", and that Jewish students are perceived as belonging to the latter group.
It also brings to mind two statements attributed to high-ranking university officials in past years in response to Jewish complaints of anti-Semitic incidents on the UCI campus. (I choose not to name them because they came to me via hearsay though very reliable.) In the first, Jews were told that "One person's hate speech is another person's education." The second was a suggestion that a Jewish female student who was verbally accosted and complained to the administration seek counseling.
Anyone who tells you that the situation at UCI in terms of anti-Semitism is getting better is full of it.
