When I was in college, one had certain course requirements, like say, 2 years of a foreign language or a philosophy class (Ugh), or so many history classes, you knew the drill.
Things are different now. Now you have to take ethnic diversity classes. Here's what's happening at UCLA.

It's not enough that we have entire departmental chairs devoted to this stuff; now you have to take one of these chauvinistic classes.

There is something oxymoronic in requiring a course on diversity, or even teaching one. The faculty vote is obviously intended to award an honorary medal to a sacrosanct set of phraseology, rather than to enhance the content of a student's education.
