The burning question now after the military coup that removed Mohammed Morsi from power is whether the military will restore order to Egypt, or whether Egypt will descend into civil war, a la Syria. It seems that the majority of Egyptians support the coup. The Muslim Brotherhood is organizing protests and resistance, all the while of course, saying they oppose violence.
Meanwhile, like Syria, Egypt's Christians-already in desperate straits- are caught in the middle. The below report from Vlad Tepes and News VA describes a post-coup attack on a Christian church.

Of course, amid all the hand-wringing in Washington, our own leaders still ignore the plight of the Copts in Egypt. More and more, President Obama makes it clear he supports the Muslim Brotherhood as he and his feckless administration talk about the fleeting pipe dream of democracy in the Middle East.
Here's hoping the military will crush the Muslim Brotherhood and set an example for other nations in the region.

What do you want our leaders to do? Send in the marines?
If things deteriorate, it will probably be more like Algeria than Syria... Islamists win an election, the military intervenes, ten years of vicious civil war ensues.
The Brotherhood isn't going to be crushed. If that were feasible, Mubarak and Sadat and Nasser would have done it. It has too much popular support. That's like saying "I hope the Tea Party will be crushed." Regardless of what you think of the Tea Party, or the Brotherhood, support for each is real, and not likely to diminish to zero any time soon.
