California State University Has a Question to Answer

"Is it permissible under Cal. Gov. Code 8314 and CSU policy for Prof. Klein to use the CSUN web server to advance his personal and political goals?"

Below is a letter sent by my friends at the AMCHA Initiative to the general counsel of the California State University system asking a direct question: Given previous rulings they have issued on other matters, what is their position on a Cal State Northridge professor using his math class to further his personal political agenda? The professor in question is David Klein, of whom we have written previously.

My own position on this is clear; Students and their families are not paying tuition to sit in a classroom and be bombarded with their professor's personal views on the world. It is unprofessional. My students at UC Irvine never get my personal views on anything. They are there to learn English.

Maybe Professor Klein should realize that his students are there to learn math.
