In preparation for Monday night's "Meltdown" with Keith Olbermann, I thought I would check out some of the liberal blogs for their take on yesterday's "Restore the Honor" event at the Lincoln Memorial. It's not pretty. Not very classy either.

Restore the Honor: Glenn Beck honors Glenn Beck.
Of course, we know that these folks don't like Glenn Beck, but could they not one time give credit where credit is due? I watched the event late last night on C-Span. There was no ugliness; there was no politics; there were no posters insulting Obama or Reid or Pelosi; there were no posters at all, at least that I could see. It was a positive event honoring America, our soldiers and God.
What's wrong with that?
Over 5 million dollars was raised for the children of troops killed in combat.
What's wrong with that? How much mention of that will you hear from the liberal press, Keith Olbermann and his band of regular nightly horse-holders?
Instead, they will talk up that negative-themed event held by Al Sharpton, who has more baggage than Beck ever will (Tawana Brawley, "white interlopers", etc.), in which Sharpton's main theme was "them vs. us". Yet, when it was all said and done, the only thing Sharpton had left to complain about was that Beck didn't deliver on his promise to give the crowd that "red meat" they surely had come to hear. Would it not have beautiful had Reverend Al marched his followers over to the mall to join in the celebration of America, God and our troops? They would have been welcomed. What a moving site that would have been. Instead, Al acted like a petulent child whose sandbox had been misappropriated, as if the Lincoln Memorial didn't belong to everybody.
Of course, we will hear the the crowd (at least according to the camera shots recorded by the media) was overwhelmingly white-as if that makes it equivalent to a Nuremberg Party Rally. Forget the fact that the African-Americans who appeared on stage to speak or sing received standing ovations. In the words of one California attendee who was interviewed on local radio in Los Angeles, it was because the crowd was "so grateful that they chose to come and participate with them". Martin Luther King's niece, Yet, Alveda King, who spoke at the event, is already being blasted by the liberal media- witness the Daily Kos remarks above.
So go ahead, liberal media. Rip yesterday's event all you like. I have a feeling it will only further turn off average Americans who, though not present, have watched at least some of it on TV and concluded,
"What was wrong with that?"

The Leftist rhetoric and talking points are getting very old. It does not surprize me, that the "Daily Kos" called the Beck event a "Hatefest", or the Huffpo calling the event a "hyman"repair, and of course, Media Matters suggesting that Beck is a narcissist.
Interesting that Charles Krauthhammer considers Obama a narcissist, as he is a psychiatrist, as well as a lawyer and columnist. Obama is, by inspection, a Marxist. He is also an ex-Muslim (check his upbringing).
Obama's buddy, Jeromiah Wright is an ex-Muslim and a Marxist, by inspection. Do your research and find the facts.
Does the MSM check these facts? Do they check out Obama's "redistribution of wealth" in the light of his early training by his mentor Frank Marshal? Or, "hanging around the Marxists" as Obama cited when he went to Occidental college? And. most recently, having Hillary give the UN-Human Rights Commission a document on our human rights transgressions. Now we will have Omar K. and Fidel C. judge our actions, along with the sharia loving 57 state OIC. This report cited Arizona as a violator of civil rights. Kiss good-bye to State, and Local rights and the U.S. Constitution, via "International Law"
Does the MSM, Media Matters, Huffington Post or the Dialy Kos get concerned? No, because that is what they want.
So, Leftist reporters, we have developed a strong carapace and will not give your brand of news any validity.

Alveda King is a unique individual, entitled to express any opinions she wants, anywhere she wants. The only reason anyone would be entitled to question her speech is if she claimed to be speaking ON BEHALF OF her late uncle.
So tell me Siarlys, how did you like Sharpton's event and his speech?

Three stooges and Marx Bros? That tag goes to the sour grapes crowd on the left like Sharpton.
They are really struggling to formulate their criticism because it was an upbeat event that accentuated the positive in America. There was no anger on exhibit. No ugliness.
The undeniable fact is that Beck and the people who came hit a grand slam.
What I like about Siarlys is that he exists completely outside the manufactured war between "conservatives" and "liberals". He seems to have completely divorced him from this stupid game of "choose your pundit" that I unfortunately find myself falling prey to as well sometimes.
And Beck hit a grand slam? What does that even mean? You're the Captain of Vagueness sometimes, Gary.
I have no idea what Sharpton said, how many people attended, or what part of town they were in. I said before either even came off, he's out of his mind to waste his time holding such an event. I wasn't paying any attention to either one of them. By next week, 99% of American voters won't be either.

I watched the whole event last night on C-span (I think). Sharpton's speech was disgraceful. Many of the other lead up speeches were also bad. There were probably 2-3000 present.
So, I have the same question for you:
Why did you waste your time watching Sharpton's little mutual admiration society on C-Span? Who cares?
Although I am often a stickler for asking people to cite sources and substantiate allegations, I cannot read every book or watch every talk show that someone might want to throw into a conversation. There are only so many hours in the day, and there are more books in print than I could read in 200 lifetimes, not to mention the number of web sites clamoring for my attention.
Fousesquawk is an interesting read and a worthy challenge. Watching Sharpton, or Beck on their own show or making a public spectacle of themselves, is not on my priority list.
I watched it so I could inform you of what he actually said.
After I told you it doesn't matter to me WHAT he said? That's like spending a whole day slaving away in a kitchen making a complex luxury pastry that I find disgusting, just so I can serve it to you, when you already told me you never eat that stuff.
Besides, you haven't told me what he said. You've told me that you watched it, and you found it disgraceful. I haven't even expressed doubt on that assessment.
