Sweden: Fewer Shootings in 2025 but...............

The Swedish daily, Expressen, has posted a report on the number of shootings in Sweden from 2017 to the present. A major portion involves gang wars between rival immigrant gangs. An interesting aspect this year has been the fact that while the number of shootings has declined in 2025, the proportion of deaths to shootings has increased. One police source, queried by Expressen, suspects this may be due to the gangs hiring more professional killers.

The article below by Expressen is translated by Fousesquawk.

Shootings are deadlier than ever: "Execution"

Posted September 5, 2025 at 19:05

Not since police began keeping statistics have shootings been as deadly as now.

A new pattern is seen thus far this year- and in just one week, 4 young men have been shot to death in cars.

"This can only be interpreted as one thing: execution. This is a classic mafia method," says Jale Poljarevius, police regional intelligence chief.

Caption: The car in which the victims were sitting was still running when police arrived at the scene.

* Gothenburg, April 14. Two young men shot to death outside in Biskopsgården late at night. According to information provided to Expressen, they have connections to the North Biskop network, which has long had a conflict with South Biskop.

*Uppsala, April 29. In the afternoon on the day before Walpurgis, a young man and two teenagers were shot to death at a hair salon.

*Järfälla, August 25. After a report of a shooting just after midnight, two men were found shot to death in a car in a parking lot in Kallhäll.

*Gothenburg, September 2. Two young men were found dead in a car in a parking garage in Lunden. They were reportedly shot to death from the back seat. Once again, it is believed that the conflict between the Biskopsgården criminal gangs lies behind the crime.

Increased deadliness in shootings

These cases from the last few months can show a change in the gun violence of the gangs. Shootings have certainly become fewer-but also more deadly.

The number of shootings without deaths is higher than those with deaths.

Thus far this year, there have been 4.9 shootings for each dead victim, not counting the mass Risbergska murder in Örebro. That can be compared with 7.6 shootings for each dead victim during the period 2017-2024.

This shows police numbers from last year and so far in 2025. Expressen has also figured in the shootings of the past few days, which are not yet recorded in police statistics.

Jale Poljarevius, the intelligence chief in the Central Police Region, says that there have been many shootings with more than one fatal victim during the year. A conceivable explanation can be that criminals have started to hire more capable perpetrators than before, he thinks.

"A professional goes in and does a surgical operation. He gets a target and takes out the target."

"Classic mafia method"

At the same time, Jale Poljarevius points out that it is not always obvious whether the murdered person was the target or if they were shot for more random reasons.

"Is it intentional to take these human lives, or is it rather that you intend to kill one but shoot and two others die?"

As for the two current double murders in cars in Gothenburg and Stockholm, Poljarevius says:

"There is only one way to interpret it: Execution. This is a classic mafia method, as old as cars. It's built on misleading and false trust to get a person to sit in a car and make themselves so vulnerable."

Increased mortality in shootings

Number of shootings, number of fatalities, and number of shootings compared to fatalities. All of 2017-2024. Through September 4, 2025.

2025: 117 shootings, 44 deaths, 4.9 shootings per fatality

2024: 296 shootings 44 deaths, 6.7 shootings per fatality.

2023: 368 shootings, 54 deaths, 6.8 shootings per fatality

2022: 391 shootings, 62 deaths  6.3 shootings per fatality.

2021: 344 shootings, 45 deaths, 7.6 shootings per fatality.

2020: 379 shootings, 47 deaths, 8.1 shootings per fatality.

2019: 360 shootings, 45 deaths  8.0 shootings per fatality.

2018: 325 shootings, 43 deaths, 7.6 shootings per fatality.

2017: 281 shootings, 36 deaths, 7.8 shootings per fatality.

We have used police statistics on shootings up to and including August 2025

We have excluded the mass murder at the Risbergska School since it was a unique incident that can give a misleading picture of the development of gang violence.

We have also excluded one of the two death cases in the shooting in Alvesta in July, since it is considered to have been a suicide.

For the period, September 1-4, 2025, we have used police incident reports and media reports on shootings.

France: Afghans vs. Malians: One Dead

On August 29, on the outskirts of Paris, a street brawl broke out between two groups of street vendors (apparently selling cigarettes). One group was reportedly made up of Afghans, and the other group was reportedly made up of Malians. When it was over, one person remained lying on the street. He was taken to a hospital, but later pronounced dead. Police have now arrested one person, not further identified, as the principal suspect.

The article below from Paris Match (which does not give the cause of death) is translated by Fousesquawk.

A suspect surrendered the day after the incident on August 29 near the RER B (Paris local train) station, before being charged and locked up.
A simple dispute led to the death of a man. According to Paris Match's information, a man, suspected of intentional violence resulting in unintentional death, was charged on Wednesday, September 3, before being placed in pre-trial detention.
The information was confirmed by the Prosecutor's Office of Bobigny to Paris Match.
The incident occurred during the evening of August 29 near the RER B station La Courneuve-Aubervilliers (Seine-Saint-Denis).
Once the melee broke up, a man remained lying on the ground
During the evening, several street vendors, mostly of cigarettes, were doing their business on the streets adjacent to the train station. For a reason still not known, two of them began to insult each other before coming to blows. A fight ensued between the two men, of Afghan and Malian nationalities. Several other beligerents came to join in the fight before they all separated after a few exchanges of blows. Once the melee dispersed, a man remained lying on the ground, not moving. Cared for by his friends, he was taken to the hospital. His death was pronounced a few hours later.
Informed of the facts, the prosecutor's office of Bobigny opened an investigation before giving the reins to the Judicial Police of Seine-Saint-Denis.
The (Judicial Police) quickly identified the principal suspect, who turned himself in the day after the incident. "The reason why this fight broke out remains unclear, an investigator confided. Further investigation should allow us to know more."

Stand With Us Calls on UC Berkeley to Investigate Prof. Hatem Bazian

Hatem Bazian and friends

Over the years, I have often written about UC Berkeley professor Hatem Bazian, including just in the past few days. Now Stand With Us, an organization founded to fight anti-Semitism, has called on UC Berkeley to investigate Bazian's long history of contributing to campus anti-Semitism with his words and his writings, which are well documented. The press release from Stand With Us can be read here.

Needless to say, I agree with everything in that press release.

Germany: Teacher Stabbed- 17-Year-Old Kosovar Suspect Shot by Police

Suspect being placed in ambulance
-WELT

Today in Essen, Germany, a female teacher at a vocational college was stabbed and injured, allegedly by a 17-year-old Kosovar male. The suspect fled from the school but was tracked down by police in a park near the Central Train Station. He was then shot after he allegedly charged at police with a knife. He was taken to a hospital, and his condition is not known. Though she was stabbed multiple times, the teacher's condition is not life-threatening.

In the interest of time, we have partially translated the article below from WELT.

A (female) teacher in Essen was attacked with a knife and injured. The police have now caught the 17-year-old attacker, and shots were fired. Essen's lord mayor declares war on knife violence.

After the knife attack on a teacher in a vocational college, Essen's Lord Mayor, Thomas Kufen (CDU) has called for stronger weapons controls in schools. "We must declare war on knives. Whoever has a knife will use it-and that leads precisely to such acts, which we must avoid," said Kufen during a visit to the vocational college.

"We have to search the school bags, search the backpacks," he demanded. "It is primarily the parents who must do this themselves, but in addition, the schools and the we in the city will help," Kufen said. Over the weekend, they will discuss specifically, "what additional security measures we must take at this school and possibly in other schools."

"That is what we owe to the impacted students and teachers. Naturally, we are all worried about what will happen on Monday," said the lord mayor.

Police had to use firearms during arrest

On Friday morning, a 45-year-old teacher at the establishment was attacked with a knife and injured. The perpetrator then fled, but the police were able to catch and apprehend him in a park near the Central Train Station.

The attacker was shot because he allegedly ran at the police officers with a knife. The suspect is a 17-year-old Kosovar, the police reported. According to BILD and WAZ (Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung), it is not yet clear if he himself is a student at the vocational college.

The suspect was wounded and taken to a hospital. Nothing more has been reported as to the seriousness of his wounds.

Italy: Police Foil Terrorist Attack on Christian Festival- Two Turks in Custody

Hat tip Gates of Vienna and Vlad Tepes

Viterbo (Lazio) Italy

Italian police say they have foiled a planned terrorist attack on a Christian festival in the town of Viterbo (Lazio). Two Turks have been arrested and several weapons seized as preparations were underway in Viterbo for the Santa Rosa Feast Day celebration. The two suspects had reportedly rented an apartment overlooking the square in which the event was to occur. Some 40,000 people were expected to attend.

Viterbo
-Corriere della Sera

We are in the process of adding English subtitles to an Italian news video.

*Update (September 5, 2025): Since the arrests of the two Turks in Viterbo, 5 other Turks were arrested in the same general area, but have since been released. In addition, police are actively searching for two other Turks.

At this point (according to the article below), police now suspect this may simply be a case of arms traffic by the Turkish mafia as opposed to a planned terrorist attack on the Santa Rosa procession. The investigation continues.

The Macchina of Santa Rosa

The article below from TG Lazio 7 is translated from Fousesquawk.

Viterbo, Foiled attack at the Festival of Santa Rosa: Two other Turks being sought. The prosecutor opens a case on arms traffic

Reportedly connected to the Turkish Mafia

-Digital editing

September 5, 2025 at 07:38

It looked like there were 7 people feared to be members of a commando ready to open fire on the crowd at the Macchina di Santa Rosa festival, but 5 are reportedly not related. In the evening of Thursday, September 4, 2025, 5 other people were arrested by the Mobile Squad (police) and Digos from the Viterbo Police Hqs. All of them are of Turkish origin and were staying in a bed and breakfast in Montefiascone (Viterbo). Police searched the room(s) of these last 5 persons. To date, no connection has reportedly emerged with the "previous facts". The 5 were therefore released, and there are no charges against them.

On the other hand, the investigators are searching throughout Lazio for two other Turks with road blocks and airport checks.

Previous arrests

Leading the officers to the accommodation, the document used by the arrestees to register, which was the same used by two Turks arrested the day before in another bed and breakfast in Viterbo, because they were found in possession of a semi-automatic pistol, an assault rifle, loaded and ready to use. A circumstance that led the investigators to fear that there was a possible planned terrorist act during the Macchina procession of Santa Rosa.

Connections with the Turkish Mafia

The first 2 arrestees could be connected to a Turkish mob boss, Boris Boyun, a fugitive in his country and arrested last August 26 in Viterbo because he was suspected to be the head of a gang involved in money laundering and other crimes of a violent nature. The man, for whom there was an international arrest warrant, was hiding in a lodging in Viterbo. On that occasion, the police detained 3 other Turkish citizens who were staying in the same guesthouse.

The investigation

Subsequent to the arrests of the past hours, the State Prosecutor of Viterbo opened a case for arms traffic (links to terrorism excluded). The possibility of an attack was being investigated, but is as yet unconfirmed.

The Muslim Brotherhood in France (14)

The article below from yesterday's Le Figaro is the latest in our series of translations from original European articles on the activities of the Muslim Brotherhood in Europe and the 14th such translation from France. It specifically concerns the French government's dissolution of the European Institute of Human Sciences, a training school for imams in France, which has been tied to the Muslim Brotherhood and is accused of promoting armed jihad, which the institute denies.

The translation is by Fousesquawk.

The European Institute of Human Sciences, suspected of legitimizing "armed jihad", dissolved by the Council of Ministers

By Le Figaro with Agence France Presse

One day ago

"The fight against entryism (infiltration) by the Muslim Brotherhood movement continues. Today, the European Institute of Human Sciences has been dissolved at my request in the Council of Ministers," the Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, wrote on X.

The European Institute of Human Sciences (IESH), a school for imams, suspected of advocating "a radical Islam" and legitimizing "armed jihad", was dissolved in the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, September 3, Bruno Retailleau announced on X. "The fight against entryism by the Muslim Brotherhood movement continues. Today, the European Institute of Human Sciences has been dissolved at my request in the Council of Ministers, the Minister of Interior writes, adding his thanks to "the State services who, every day, lead this vital fight to not allow the Muslim Brotherhood to carry out their Islamist agenda."

A report, requested by Emmanuel Macron, and published in the spring, noted the "threat to national cohesion," with the development of Islamism "from below" on the part of the Muslim Brotherhood. Founded in 1992 on the initiative of the Union of Islamic Organizations in France (UOIF, later the Muslims of France), which gravitates within the orbit of the Islamist brotherhood of the Muslim Brotherhood, IESH is regularly the target of accusations of collusion with radical organizations.

The premises, located in the Nievre (department), were searched at the end of 2024, notably by the Central Office for Repression of Serious Financial Crimes (OCRGDF) within the framework of an investigation on suspicions of non-declaration of foreign financing, specifically, Qatari. The investigation, opened by the Public Prosecutor of Nevers, focuses primarily on acts of money laundering, abuse of trust, as well as failure to comply with the obligation to declare foreign financing, primarily coming from Qatar, as inscribed in the law against separatism, adopted in 2021, a source close to the case indicated at the time.

"We train the imams in the French way"

"There are no grounds for this. Since the 2021 law, we have not received any donations from abroad. The last was, from Qatar, in 2018, and it was declared," the dean of the institute, Larabi Becheri, claimed to Agence France Presse, disputing the accusations. "We train the imams in the French way to avoid radicalism," M. Becheri defended himself, insisting on the independence of the institute.

The school, installed in the tiny hamlet of Saint-Leger-de-Fougeret (Nievre) in the dense forest of Morvan, was the first of its kind to open in France, not far from Chateau-Chinon, the electoral home of Francois Mitterand. The former president wanted to promote the training of imams in France, an idea later revived by Emmanuel Macron.

Sweden: "Where Are the Peaceful Muslims?"

I am cross-posting an article appearing in the Swedish website, Samtiden. The article is posted by Jakob Sjölander, but he is posting an op-ed by Birgitta Sparf, a Swedish sociologist and influencer. Sparf asks the question: Where are the peaceful Muslims in Sweden? It is a rhetorical question.

Her article is translated by Fousesquawk.

Caption: "Not all!" No, certainly not-but where are the protesters?

Birgitta Sparf: Where are the Muslim opponents of Muslim violence?

By Jakob Sjölander
30 August 2025

Islam is sometimes called, "the religion of peace", and not always with irony. But is it, perhaps, only a few Muslims who commit acts of violence? Birgitta Sparf wonders where all the Muslims who protest against this are.

The majority of Muslims in Sweden are peaceful! That is the message that is often heard when it comes to the spread of Islam in the country. I have always been very skeptical of this claim.

A gang of fanatical, anti-Semitic, Hamas supporters occupy the street area at the entrance to the Parliament building and attack passersby and parliament members who dare venture out on the grounds they (the protesters) have occupied and claimed as theirs with screams, yelling, megaphones, flags, and wild drums.

It's OK if these aggressive Muslims don't represent the majority of all Muslims who move here, mostly from the Middle East.

But what was the peaceful Muslim majority in Stockholm and the rest of Sweden doing while this was going on? Did they gather in a similar screaming and loud demonstration at Mynt Square in support of Swedish freedom, equality, and democracy?

No, they didn't do it, of course, for obvious reasons. This is because they also live according to the message of the Koran. All believing Muslims do. A peaceful Muslim is an ex-Muslim and nothing else. If he succeeds in surviving despite the death ban on leaving the "religion".

The Koran's theses as to us Christians and unbelieving Westerners, are not exactly benevolent and peaceful, if you will. On the contrary, we must be fought to the last drop of blood until we all submit ourselves to Allah and recognize the only true teaching. Allahu Akhbar!

But the Bible-many object. It also contains violent and warlike messages. Absolutely. It is just that there are no Christians, as far as I know, who live by those rules and start bloody wars of conquest today. You may correct me if I am mistaken.

Camila Hamid is often on TV4  baking in her tight hijab. The female program hosts chirp enthusiastically about how exciting it is, and the taste panels happily taste (her dishes).

What nobody in the TV studio understands is that the tight-fitting hijab is clear evidence that the wearer lives strictly according to Sharia laws. Laws within the Koran that have as their steadfast goal of castigating and enslaving all women who are free, happy, and sparkling. For example, the program hosts on TV4.

The well-meaning, the naive, and the insidious are persistently honking at us that "Islamism has nothing at all to do with Islam". Certainly, absolutely. I can counter with, "The few neo-Nazis in Ludvika and Grängesberg have nothing at all to do with Hitler Nazis!"

Camila Hamid continues to bake happily on TV4, and the Swedish people continue to doze sweetly and peacefully. Secure in the assurance that, fortunately, it was only the peaceful and democratic Muslims who chose to move to Sweden.

And when the people finally wake up, it will be shown that they woke up too late.

George Mason University Reinstates Students for Justice in Palestine Chapter

The College Fix
Is this what we want on our college campuses?

George Mason University (GMU), in Fairfax, Virginia, has reinstated the campus chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP).  The College Fix has the details here.

And why was SJP suspended in the first place? Last year, police found weapons and "death to America" and  "death to Jews" signs in the home of two of SJP's GMU leaders, sisters Jena Chanaa and Noor Chanaa. While I applaud the growing number of universities that are suspending their SJP chapters, I have argued many times that this disruptive organization should be permanently banned from every campus. They are, indeed, anti-Jewish, even though they have a few oddball Jews as members. Their tactics are straight out of the playbook of the Nazi Storm Troopers. They disrupt, bully, and intimidate rather than engage in meaningful, respectful, and civilized debate, which is supposed to be a hallmark of our universities. Alas, but that is a distant memory.

So now GMU will await the next disruption caused by SJP on their campus. How many times must a university suspend SJP before it wakes up and realizes that this organization has no place on any campus?

France: Knife-Wielding Tunisian Shot and Killed by Police in Marseille

Hat tip Gates of Vienna, Vlad Tepes, and Francois de Souche

The suspect
-Francois deSouche

Today in Marseille, police shot and killed a 35-year-old Tunisian man, identified only as Abdelkader D., after he stormed a hotel, armed with a knife and stabbed approximately five people. When police responded, he refused orders to drop his knife and began to charge the officers, yelling, "Allahu Akbar". Police responded by shooting and killing him.

The man was reportedly in the country legally, but was known to police. He was reportedly being kicked out of the hotel for non-payment of rent.

The French blog, Francois de Souche  (via Le Figaro) has a video of the shooting. (viewer discretion advised.) We are in the process of translating French reports on the incident.

*Update (9-2-2025): From Paris Match. Translation by Fousesquawk.

Victims in critical condition, Tunisian suspect dead.... What we know about the knife attack in Marseille

By Martin Regley and Florian Tardif

September 2, 2025 at 16:54, Updated  September 2, 2025 at 19:54

Italy: Anti-Israel Hypocrisy on the Left

NY Times

The Venice Film Festival is in full swing, the pro-Hamas crazies are out in force, and Roberto Arditti of Il Tempo has taken the occasion to write an excellent op-ed today, which we are translating here. He points out the sheer hypocrisy of those on the left in Italy, including those who walk the red carpet in Venice, for their support for Hamas vs Israel while ignoring the outrages going on in their own country at the hands of the migrants and asylum-seekers, who continue to attack innocent people.

Where is the outrage?

The left in Italy and the rest of the West may be too thick to see it, but there is a definite link between the criminal migrants wreaking havoc in Europe and Hamas, a terrorist organization dedicated to the destruction of Israel and the Jewish people.

Thankfully, there are many sensible people in Italy, like Mr Arditti, who do see it.

The anti-Israel left is silent on migrant violence

By Roberto Arditti

September 1, 2025

The streets of the Lido are teeming with demonstrators: Social centers, progressive Catholics, and starlets in search of visibility, ranting against Israel, accused of every atrocity. "Stop genocide", they shout, ignoring logic: Hamas, whom they defend so much, doesn't want peace, but rather the destruction of the West, our world. Indignation is cheap, so much per kilo, and only serves to reinforce those who hate us. Meanwhile, in Italy, very serious things are happening, silenced by those who prefer the politically correct to the courage of the truth.

In Catania, a 37-year-old Ethiopian, Habtom Hailu, stabbed Alessandro Indurre, a 40-year-old Italian, to death, like him, an illegal parking valet. An argument over a parking space, and the knife did the rest. Indurre leaves a little girl orphaned. It's August 30, who talks about it? Better to march for Gaza. In Florence, a quadraplegic man in a wheelchair, Michele Vannini, 42, was robbed on via Toselli. Two young North Africans yanked a gold chain from his neck.  Helpless, he felt like "prey". It was August 26, in broad daylight. San Jacopino is a no-man's land, but the indignation is reserved for the "poor migrants".

In Milan, two Bosnian Roma (Gypsies) were arrested for serial robberies. On July 15, in Piazza (Square) Missori, they attacked Alessandro Briguglio, a 25-year-old financial analyst. A hammer blow to the head to rob him of a 4,000 euro Tudor. A fractured skull, a split eyebrow. "One more blow and I was dead," he said. Arrested two months later, but how many other victims in the meantime? And what is the cost to taxpayers of arresting these people, one, two, three, and countless times?

And then in Padua, August 19: Three North Africans, armed with knives and clubs, break into an isolated farmhouse. A couple had secluded themselves. They robbed them, held down the boy, and one of them sexually abused the girl. The rapist was arrested thanks to the report, but the trauma remains. Another episode that cries for vengeance, ignored by the champions of do-goodism.

These are not isolated cases: They are the result of uncontrolled immigration, which imports violence and disregard for our rules. Integration is a pipe dream when respect is lacking. And while they wave Palestinian flags in Venice, Hamas is laughing: Every parade strengthens them against a West that is committing suicide with its own do-goodism. Enough hypocrisy. Italy cannot be a Wild West for foreign criminals. Harder laws are needed, immediate expulsions, and less chatter.

Security is non-negotiable, not in Catania, not in Florence, not in Milan, not in Padua. Wake up, Italy. Those in Venice will never understand; they are too busy on the red carpet. But the others can do it.

Netherlands: Dutch Police Have No Idea Who Murder Suspect Is

Tribute to Lisa
-NOS

Recently, we reported on yet another murder in Europe, in which the suspect is a migrant or asylum-seeker, this time in the Netherlands. In this case, a 17-year-old girl named Lisa was murdered while bicycling home. The suspect in this case is also charged with a sexual attack on another woman in the Amsterdam area.

Now the Dutch authorities have announced at a press conference that they still don't know the suspect's name, age, or what country he comes from. Nigeria and other nations have been asked for help in identifying him, according to Dutch police.

Once again, this points to the insanity of countries in Europe and the United States in admitting migrants and so-called asylum-seekers without knowing who they are, where they come from, or how old they are. How many innocent victims like Lisa have to die before we all wake up?

The article below from NOS is translated by Fousesquawk.

NOS News Today, 15:57

Identity of suspect in death of Lisa still not certain- Nigeria asked for assistance

It is still not possible to establish with 100% certainty the identity of the man who is suspected of the murder of 17-year-old Lisa and the grievous sexual offense in the Weesperzijde in Amsterdam. That is reported by the Public Ministry.

Finding out the personal information is difficult because the man has no identity papers. He was staying in a Central Reception Agency for Asylum-seekers facility (COA) in Amsterdam.

The Public Ministry says that he himself declared that he came from Nigeria. That matches the information that he gave during the asylum procedure. Earlier the Public Ministry reported that he was probably a 22-year-old man.

A number of countries have been asked "for further information". Nigeria has been specifically mentioned.

DNA not in databases

The DNA and fingerprints of the suspect have also been checked in Dutch and European databases. The suspect is not found in these databases, the Public Ministry writes.

Since the August 22 press conference, there have been 300 (tips) that have come in. The Public Ministry states that it cannot disclose the nature of the tips in the interest of the investigation.

The man is also suspected of a third incident, on August 10 in Amsterdam, also in the Weesperzijde.  It initially appeared to be a street robbery, but the police now consider it a possible sex offense. Therefore, the police asked during the press conference if any other people had experienced similar incidents.

The suspect will remain in custody for at least another 90 days.

Italy: Migrant Cuts Throat of Stray Dog and Tries to Eat it

A few days ago, a migrant man from Mali (27) was arrested in the Sicilian town of Naro (Agrigento) for slitting the throat of a stray dog on the street in order to eat it. Shortly before, he had burned another stray dog with boiling oil, trying to kill it for food. He had been arrested for that, but immediately turned loose by a magistrate. He also reportedly attacked the police who arrested him for the first crime. The suspect, according to news sources, is already the subject of a deportation order.

The dead dog (above), a stray, was known to the local residents.

Horror in Naro in the province of Agrigento, where a non-EU citizen cut the throat of a dog in the street, apparently in an attempt to eat it. A horrifying scene in which some citizens were present, who immediately sounded the alarm. The Carabinieri intervened at the scene, arresting the 27-year-old Malian, who was already known to law enforcement. He is now charged with the killing of an animal. The foreigner was arrested and taken to the Carabinieri post of Caltanissetta.

"Seven days ago, this person had already burned a poor stray dog with boiling oil, and the responding Carabinieri were also attacked by the non-EU citizen," said Enrico Rizzi, an animal rights activist. "The man had already been arrested and immediately released by the magistrate. Returning to the street, he took another stray and cut its throat. He must be sent back home."

"What happened in Naro is an act of inadmissible violence, repugnant. Italy is not a no-man's land and never will be. Since July 1st, the Brambilla Law is in force and it must be applied," says Michela Vittoria Brambilla, president of Leidaa and the Parliamentary Intergroup for the Rights of Animals and Protection of the Environment.

"The killing of an animal with cruelty not only offends our civility and our conscience, but carries a sentence of up to four years in prison and a 60 thousand euro fine. This is the law of a country that protects the weakest, starting with the animals," Brambilla concludes.

"As an administration, we reiterate that we have done everything possible and we will continue to monitor the matter with maximum attention, so that all necessary measures are taken, including the deportation procedure against the person in question. We trust in the justice (system) and the work of law enforcement, renewing our constant commitment to the security and the dignity of our community." This is what the mayor of Naro, Milco Dalacchi, said.
