December 3: Put it on Your Calendar

Nidal Hasan
Coming to a screen near you?

Secretary of Defense War Pete Hegseth has announced that Nidal Hasan, the man who murdered 13 fellow soldiers and injured 32 others at Ft. Hood in 2009, and has been sentenced to death, will be executed by firing squad at Ft. Hood on December 3rd. He has also announced that the execution will be live-streamed! Hasan is currently incarcerated at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. He has exhausted all his appeals.

The choice of a firing squad is interesting to me. I recall that when the major German war criminals were sentenced to hang at Nuremberg in October 1946, Hermann Göring, who had been a fighter pilot in World War 1, requested a firing squad since he felt it was more fitting for a military man to die by firing squad. His request was denied. (He eventually died by suicide, taking a cyanide capsule he had concealed.) General Wilhelm Keitel, also condemned, also requested a firing squad, was refused and was hanged.

I predict that the plan to live-stream the execution will be rescinded due to the public reaction both domestically and abroad. I have no sympathy for Hasan, and I welcome the execution, but all things considered, I don't think it is advisable.

I'd be fine with this guy rotting in jail or being executed.

But public executions? Do we really want to be more like Iran, the Taliban, North Korea, etc?

Hesgeth is a maniac and a complete moron. He needs to go ASAP.

Yeah, I would prefer someone with a few more grey hairs if you get my drift.

As for a televised execution, I don't think that's the image we want to send out to the rest of the world. All that said, for this bastard, I would be tempted to invite the neighbors over for a Super Bowl party.
