Walz, of course, already showed the world in 2024 that he was a jerk when he became Kamala Harris' running mate for vice president. She couldn't have picked a worse running mate. The guy became a national joke as he repeatedly came out bouncing around the stage like a jack-in-the-box.
This year, Walz has denounced the ICE raids in his state, calling them "public theatrics".
Now, it has been revealed that under his watch as Minnesota governor, one of the biggest frauds in US history was going on right under his nose within the Somali community, largely in Minneapolis, the largest Somali community in the US. Whether Walz has any active involvement in all this remains to be seen, but, regardless, Tim Walz is the winner. He is the 2025 Fousesquawk "Jerk of the Year".

Gary, is this all based on what that Youtube grifter did? Because that story is falling apart.
There was a white woman who was convicted of a daycare fraud scandal there a few years ago.
But it's almost like there's some other really big story that the right wing is trying to distract us from.
Who is the Youtube grifter? If you think there is nothing to the Somali fraud scandal, you need to get up to date.
This current situation began with a right-wing YouTube guy who's trying to make a name for himself. His video has been shared by several prominent Republicans and it's gotten a lot of attention on right wing media.
Why don't you give me specifics like a name or a link to the video? Are you suggesting this scandal is all because of a video some right-wing guy made and there is nothing to it?
The Youtuber is one Nick Shirley, and his video was shared by JD Vance (among other prominent Republicans). In the video, he claims to have uncovered "widespread fraud" even though he provides no actual evidence. (He showed up to some daycare centers and thought that them not letting in some random guy with a camera proves that there is fraud.)
As a result of this, Trump has shut down money for daycare centers throughout the entire country (not just Minnesota). Also, Somali-run daycare centers are now facing threats of violence and vandalism.

As I mentioned before, there was a real incident that happened a few years ago where somebody was tried and convicted.
Right now? I only know of allegations. If you have some real proof, I'd like to see it. Because all I can find is stuff coming from Nick Shirley and people who are uncritically sharing his video.
"More than 90 people — most from Minnesota's large Somali community — have been charged since 2022 in what has been described as the nation's largest COVID-era scheme. How much money has been stolen through alleged money laundering operations involving fraudulent meal and housing programs, daycare centers, and Medicaid services is still being tabulated. But the U.S. attorney in Minnesota said the scope of the fraud could exceed $1 billion and rise to as high as $9 billion."

Looks like the investigations began when Biden was president.
And now Walz has dropped out of the governor's race.
This is clearly not just because of Nick Shirley's video. You want evidence? So do I. That's what the investigative and judicial evidence is designed to provide. I guess we both need to stand by, but I think you are standing on thin ice.
