Kavanaugh as I See it

I previously wrote on this site that Brett Kavanaugh's accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, should have the opportunity to come and testify before the Senate Judiical Committee that is running the hearings. Now it seems that in spite of receiving an invitation, Ms Ford is demanding a full FBI investigation of her claims before she will appear. That is right in line with Democrat demands that the hearings be suspended until the FBI can investigate a 36-year-old, "he said, she said" sexual assault allegation that allegedly occurred when both were in high school. As President Trump pointed out, that is hardly within the FBI's jurisdiction or expertise.

Predictably, the dowager empress, Hillary Clinton has weighed in.

Other than her husband, I can think of no one who should keep her mouth shut on such an issue as Hillary Clinton. Do I need to recite the litany of sexual allegations against Bill Clinton and bring up how Hillary, as first lady, sent out her own goon squad to squash the "bimbo eruptions"? Her stupidity in jumping into this shows how lacking in common sense she is and how unqualified she was to be president.

I hate to jump to conclusions on the Kavanaugh-Ford question, but the more I see the more it stinks. If Ms. Ford fails to show up this week and state her case in the Senate, then let the votes go forward. Given the past history with the Thomas hearings, we cannot establish a template when all you have to do is bring up a sexual misconduct allegation-at the last minute as Senator Dianne Feinstein did.. She received that allegation in July. She interviewed Kavanaugh personally after that. Why did she sit on the allegation until now?

At this point, the ball is Ms Ford's court. She needs to state her case and provide corroboration for her charges. If not, the Republicans need to stand firm in the face of this questionable tactic.

Cole Cash,

I deleted your comment by accident. Your points are well taken. We don't know if the allegations are true or not. Like you, I believe in due process. It's too late fro any criminal proceedings, but the committee (the Republicans) have invited Ford to come and testify. That is fair. Now Ford wants an FBI investigation before she appears. That will not fly. If you believe in due process, you must believe in innocent until proven guilty. If no corroboration can be found for her claim, Kavanaugh must be given the benefit of the doubt.
