The problem is with this administration and this Secretary of State, who knows what will happen? What is Egypt going to do if we don't release this bum-break the treaty with Israel? Will they turn Egypt into a radical Islamist state? Will they mistreat their Christian minority if we don't release the guy? They are going to do all those things anyway.
Our State Department should deliver a diplomatic note to Morsi that his statements are insulting to the US, and if he persists, we will cut off all aid. Of course, that will never happen.
This is what we should really say to Morsi.

Yes, I do. In my view, Pollard betrayed his country, is unrepentent, and should stay where he is.

How come we never see any posts on FOUSESQUAWK in regards to the countless times Bibi Netanyaha, Ehud Barak, and Shimon Peres has asked American presidents to pardon Pollard?
In some cases Israeli leaders have tied Pollard's release to negotiations with Palestinians.
Talk about blackmail from our "Greatest Ally in the Middle East and Whole Wide World".
That's because Pollard is small potatoes compared to Rahman. They ask us to release Pollard, we say no.
I also don't care much if Israelis negotiate with Palestinians.
