House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) told Fox News Sunday the following whopper:
"Democrats have absolutely pledged and will make sure before the end of this year, the Republican increase on middle-income taxes will not go into efect."

He's got that right. If Republicans obstruct extension of the Bush tax cuts for those with incomes under $250,000, everyone will be paying MORE taxes. Democrats are TRYING not to let that happen! But will the Republicans ALLOW them to keep the tax reductions in effect?
Siarlys,
Spoken like a true Steny Hoyer staffer.
I wouldn't know about that, but to all of us real people in the Midwest, this flak flying between the coasts is pretty bizarre.
How do you feel about Dems adjourning Congress without a vote on it? Boehner is announcing he had the votes to extend all the tax cuts.
All the tax cuts are not going to be extended. If we're going to pay down the deficit and/or pay off the national debt, the money has to come from somewhere. How about, we extend the tax cuts to people who are struggling to pay basic living expenses, and those making massive bonuses on businesses that had to be bailed out by the taxpayers start paying a little more?
Boehner wasn't going to throw any votes to extend tax cuts for those who really need them. He was going to hold his breath until America turned blue if he didn't get his way on everything.
