This month, a Syrian representative to the UN Human Rights Councilinvoked the old Jewish blood libel against Israel. (above). Only the NGO UN Watch spoke out.
This is the type of discourse that goes on regularly in the UN Human Rights Council, which is dominated by the members of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).

Syrian president Bashir Assad, who is reputed to have been a competent opthalmologist in London (someone check if he performed competently on Jewish patients...) used the blood libel to try to find common ground during John Paul II's visit a few years ago. The Bishop of Rome neither welcomed nor condemned the reference, then or later.
But this is rather old news. Its also a little like Frank Collin running around Skokie Illinois in his little Nazi Halloween costume. Yeah, it provokes anger, but as Karl Marx said, second time as farce. The tragedy was the first time. Syria's not even a very good Wannabe. Its a good thing they are not. Now, is there any real news?

Yes, there is. This story does not concern a bunch a Hitler wanna-bes running around Skokie in Halloween costumes. This is actual discourse going on at the United Nations.
